The Rose and Crown, Isleworth

Closed forever
Like most of the pubs in the area it’s a block of flats

29 Feb 2024 20:22

The Albert, Bow

Exactly as I expected it to be on a Monday afternoon, ten or so old time Eastenders drinking in one’s and twos and putting the world to rights
Friendly young barmaid who was totally at ease with the clientele who doubtless all knew Ron n Reg and my pint of Smiths was under £4 so I’ll be using The Albert again

6 Feb 2024 19:10

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

Another unspoiled historic boozer in the city.Slow service and for some reason they only served in the very small bar with the smoky coal fire.A warm feel about the place and a decent pint of real ale albeit at £6
A must if you’re sight seeing in the smoke.

9 Dec 2023 14:48

The Nell Gwynne, Covent Garden

As traditional as Pie and Mash,Tower Bridge and the Artful Dodger. An absolute gem of a pub, untouched and unspoiled and an amazing experience with very nice staff. When people wonder why pub’s struggle they should visit this place and see how pubs should be and how staff should treat customers

9 Dec 2023 14:44

The Crown Inn, Uploders

Very small inside and ditto with the beer garden and car park
A locals place by the looks of it as although it’s situated just off the A35 it’s not advertised
Only a few people were in,none whom we’re eating but there was a delightful lingering scent so clearly people had been earlier
Lots of ales on hand pumps but I forgot to check the cider selection
There were also plenty of vintage military and police hats and helmets by the toilets so you can take a few selfies of yourself wearing them

6 Jul 2023 22:50

The Acorn Inn, Dorchester

A very cozy pub in a beautiful village, excellent food and a superb choice of ales you can enjoy in the peaceful garden.
They have yard of ale competitions and the huge blackboard on the wall shows the times taken or who failed the task.Barstaff we’re decent young locals making it another reason why Dorset is still the place to be for now

4 Jul 2023 19:48

The Crown Inn, Bridport

Enjoyed my simple meal of a bowl of chips washed down with a pint of real ale the name of which escapes me
On a very busy road so sitting outside isn’t ideal but inside is comfortable and the pub has a traditional look which make you want to stay

22 Jun 2023 23:03

Bull Inn, Dorchester

Now closed forever

22 Jun 2023 22:57

White Horse Inn, Litton Cheney

A pub seemingly in the middle of nowhere with a very large garden but small inside
The owners were very friendly as were the locals
I only had a coke and forgot to check the real ale selection and what else they had on tap but I’m sure the selection is plentiful
Another winner in my book

22 Jun 2023 22:56

The Stokeford Inn, East Stoke

Now known as The Black Dog and is much smarter than in the picture. The bar area is very small, there doesn’t appear to be another bar and the four customers sitting around a table pretty much packed the place out. They had the usual Amstel and Thatchers cider on tap although the real ale pumps were covered over so either it’s not worth selling or it had run out,I think the first option is the correct one.
Situated right by a main road and as with other pubs I’ve commented on there is little local trade to rely on.A nice pub and worth a couple of ciders in the massive beer garden overlooking the beautiful Dorset countryside

17 Jun 2023 18:19

The Seven Stars Inn, East Burton

Has a huge beer garden and is a pleasant place to visit on a summer’s evening.About 50 scooterist were quickly served by the efficient bar maids, had run out of Amstel but had lots of other ales and lagers on tap.Was very busy which shows what a decent establishment it is.They used to have three large Dobermans wandering around,I only saw one tonight barking from the top of a fire escape staircase, perhaps they’ve been barred now for bad behaviour.

2 Jun 2023 21:38

The Brewery Tap, Brentford

Nicely situated by the river where most of the customers sit on the summer days. The road the pub is on has been painted blue for some reason and despite the regeneration going on around the area many old buildings still stand in this road
Has the usual local real ales.It doesn’t open Monday or Tuesday but as they’re charging £6.50 for a pint I suppose they can afford to open less frequently

31 May 2023 19:59

The Plumbers Arms, Victoria

Nice little pub hidden away behind the busy Victoria bus station
A fair selection of real ales and the usual Peroni and Amstel lagers but they served Guinness which is my tipple so that suited me
Bar staff were friendly but it seems cruel to have portraits on the wall and a real ale and a suite named after a “man” who beat an innocent young woman to death and half succeeded in doing the same to his wife
Perhaps the Sandra Rivett suite would be more appropriate in this great little establishment

31 May 2023 13:55

Ye Olde Swiss Cottage, Swiss Cottage

Ye Olde is an understatement
The pub is so old some of it is made of wood although I don’t know if this is superficial or not
A few people were sat outside but hardly anyone was inside although it was so dimly lit I couldn’t tell,I literally had to feel my way to the bar only to find out they had no Guinness and Amstel and peroni aren’t my choice of drink so I had a quick coke and headed off the North Star
Bar staff were pleasant enough and I’m sure tourists will enjoy entering such an Olde Worlde pub but that’ll be my last visit owing to the drinks selection

31 May 2023 13:35

The William Dampier, Yeovil

I don’t normally go in pubs filled with youngsters in the evenings especially ones with doormen but most of the other pubs were closed on a bank holiday Sunday
I’ve eaten in here many times and the food is standard Wetherspoons and they have the usual range of cheap real ales
The atmosphere was ok despite the young crowd and the doormen were friendly
This is a typical what you see is what you get Wetherspoons, never seems to have clean tables and a sticky carpet

27 May 2023 19:00

27 May 2023 19:00

The Rest and Welcome Inn, Dorchester

Had a name change a few years ago to The Sheaf of Arrows and appeared to have a lot of renovation work judging by the amount of skips and rubble outside
Sadly now it’s boarded up and doubtless for sale after another failed attempt to make the place work
Probably will stay shut now or be taken over by another couple who are going to make it the finest pub in Dorset but are unsuccessful largely because despite it being on a very busy road it has to solely rely on passing trade due to the fact there are only about four houses within a mile radius of it

25 May 2023 21:19

25 May 2023 21:19

The Thimble Inn, Piddlehinton

A very large and beautiful beer garden and a very big car park as the place was heaving. Delicious food and a fine selection of ales and ciders
There was a massive queue at the bar because the scooterists paid their annual visit but the queue was quickly dealt with by the two barmen whilst the waitresses efficiently served the food
Another gem in Dorset proving properly run establishments survive

25 May 2023 21:09

Coach and Horses, Dorchester

Has definitely reopened as The Coach House Inn
Situated by the very busy A35 between Bridport and Dorchester but you’ll be pleasantly surprised how quiet it is wether sitting in the garden or inside having a drink or meal
Another pub run by people who respect customers and know what they are doing

19 May 2023 12:52

Ship Inn, Redbridge

Always busy as the food is cooked to perfection and any decent people who live local would avoid the hole across the road
A very good pub/restaurant

14 May 2023 21:52

The Anchor Inn, Totton

Dirty and unkempt, that’s the landlord I’m talking about and his wife was only marginally better although she was pleasant whilst serving me
Full of locals who thrive on bad language in this dirty place
I couldn’t wait to get out and am not going back in.

14 May 2023 21:49

The New Inn, Hounsdown

A case of use it or lose it for this place
They provide entertainment, have a lovely beer garden and treat customers with respect
But it’s always empty for some reason

14 May 2023 21:43

The Pall Tavern, Yeovil

Still going strong despite what the last post 10 years ago said.Very busy on a Sunday evening albeit a bank holiday weekend.Mixture of young and old with several young ones in suits
I did my usual trick of entering the pub just as everyone else wanted to reorder but the pretty and efficient barmaid who despite being on her own multi tasked and cleared the bar quickly
I’m not a local to Yeovil so perhaps my first visit will be my last for at least a year but given the chance I’ll return

30 Apr 2023 22:39

The Red House Inn, Yeovil

A pub which would probably have to rely on passing trade as it’s quite isolated barring the big posh houses between them and the Quicksilver Mail
The sort of place you would go for a quiet drink with friends or with a partner unless you fancy eating in the sizeable restaurant area
Landylady and female chef were lovely and friendly but the landlord had no manners,no saying please or thankyou when asking for money only shouting “twenny pand ten” at my mate then turning away once the card machine had accepted the payment
We all agreed that was the last “twenny pand” us three would spend in there

29 Apr 2023 21:00

The Quicksilver Mail, Yeovil

It’s another pub where you can only go to eat, nowhere really to sit and drink except for outside unless perhaps if their not busy during the week
It was packed on a Friday though when I visited and everyone seemed happy and the bar staff were polite and attentive

29 Apr 2023 20:51

Railway Hotel, Yeovil

Boarded up and for sale
My money is on it staying that way as it was a scruffy old dive and will have to become something special to compete with the Coopers Mill

29 Apr 2023 20:39

Coopers Mill, Yeovil

Looks like it’s the place to be on a weekend for the younger generation
One half is a restaurant which was full of people happily dining the other a bar packed with mostly youngsters torturing songs on the karaoke machine
The large garden was also full, there was no trouble and no doormen either which made entering the place without being abused or threatened was a nice experience too
If I was local it would definitely be somewhere I’d go regularly

29 Apr 2023 20:37

The Black Dog Inn, Broadmayne

Beautiful outside area and friendly welcoming staff in a delightful village
Perfectly situated on a main road a few miles outside of Dorchester
I didn’t eat but the food smelt delicious

20 Apr 2023 21:19

The Brewers Arms, Martinstown

A stunning garden and plenty of outside private covered seating areas
It’s the only pub in the village which itself is a beauty to behold
Well worth stopping for food or a refreshing drink on a summers day

13 Apr 2023 21:35

Smugglers Inn, Osmington Mills

A very welcoming pub with staff who have impeccable manners
Not really a pub where you can pop in for a few beers,it’s largely a restaurant but on a summers evening you can climb down the steep steps after a long walk and sit outside and enjoy a refreshing drink outside whilst enjoying the scenery
Trust me this pub is worth a visit but if your eating book a table as it’s always busy as soon as the clocks go forward

6 Apr 2023 22:58

The Blue Eyed Maid, Borough

Was unkempt and empty on my visit one Saturday afternoon
Now unsurprisingly shut
Another lost London pub albeit largely I believe due to poor management and over zealous doormen

26 Mar 2023 16:12

The Gate Lodge, Golders Green

So sad to hear this is another lost London pub

22 Mar 2023 18:57

The Walnut Tree, Yeading

Long demolished
I’m sure many people won’t be sorry

19 Mar 2023 14:46

The Botany Bay Inn, Winterborne Zelston

Now sadly abandoned and up For Sale

19 Feb 2023 09:39

The Northumberland Arms, Brentford

Reopened and is now very posh but the clients seem to be the older born and bred Brentford characters as opposed to the New upper crust toffs moving in to the area
Doubt I’ll make a habit of drinking in here and I’d love to know who’s idea it was to have the men’s toilet the way it now is.

16 Jan 2023 21:29

The Turks Head Hotel, Chickerell

Had a lovely Sunday carvery which couldn’t be faulted. My first visit so unsure what the place was like before the refurbishment but seeing as the place was packed I assume the locals approve
The waitresses could be a bit quicker off the mark when taking orders and none of them asked us if everything was okay
The only other gripe was the customary kid who was allowed to run about and lie on the floor nearly tripping people carrying plates of hot food over.Apparently this was acceptable because according to his wimpy parents he had ADHD whereas in reality he needed a kick up the jacksy and told to sit down
Kids weren’t like that in my day I’ll have thee know

27 Nov 2022 17:42

Lulworth Cove Inn, West Lulworth

Had a perfect roast in here today,as previously mentioned the place is technically a restaurant but cannot fault it in anyway
Everyone else seemed happy and saw no one complaining
A must if your in Lulworth trust me

20 Nov 2022 23:44

The Spice Ship, Preston

Plenty of nautical memorabilia, really wanted to know what the Stop black smoke instruction meant on a vintage ships control thingy
A bit dim inside and not many customers drinking or eating on a Thursday night but I’m assured it gets busy at weekends
I liked the place,a bit of a walk to be my local and no direct bus access but reckon it would be if I lived a mile nearer

20 Oct 2022 21:34

The Elm Tree, Langton Herring

Very smartly revamped since my last visit a few years ago
A typical upper class villagers pub,no riff raff only hoity toity locals dining out
Not really a place to go for a few pints alone or with mates it’s mostly a restaurant and quite pricey

6 Oct 2022 22:09

The Blue Vinny, Puddletown

Friendly staff and customers
Only had a non alcoholic drink and no food but the diners I saw had no complaints and all seemed happy in their world

27 Sep 2022 20:54

The Botany Bay Inn, Winterborne Zelston

Been taken over recently and the staff were very welcoming and pleased to see the 20 plus scooterists who turned up recently
We didn’t eat but such a place deserves a chance especially with such welcoming hosts
Located right on a busy main road and realistically the last pub you will pass until Winterborne Abbas 15 miles away unless you pull off the A35 so if your heading for deepest Dorset or Devon and your hungry or simply looking for somewhere to enjoy a meal pull in and help a local pub
Covid hit these pubs with very little local trade hard and the nearby Coventry Arms was lost so good luck to the Botany Bay

14 Aug 2022 10:40

The Anchor Inn, Swanage

Clearly now has better management.Same price for two roasts and two drinks as the White Swan but 100% better food and service
Very presentable pub in decor and cleanliness and the two bar staff despite being very busy were polite and attentive
Other pubs in the area could follow this pubs example

14 Aug 2022 10:24

The White Swan, Swanage

Long long wait for food which quite frankly wasn’t worth either the wait or the money.Very gristly beef and hard potatoes
We were told by the barmaid it would be a long wait but the landlady abruptly interrupted her and told her (not us) there wouldn’t be a wait and as I’ve said there was a wait, over an hour in fact.
Not once did a member of staff acknowledge us during our wait or apologise nor were we asked during our meal if everything was ok
My girlfriend lived in the area for many years and said they only really care for their local customers who keep them going during the non tourist months, fair enough but a customer is a customer and should be treated as one!

14 Aug 2022 10:19

The New Inn, Brentford

A lively and busy pub even if Brentford aren’t playing at home with a mainly Irish crowd
Had a singer in here after the Brentford Leeds game who was far too loud and with that and the Police sirens due to the fighting in the streets we couldn’t hear ourselves think so we went elsewhere

23 May 2022 21:17

The Northumberland Arms, Brentford

At the moment it’s closed and unsure if it will reopen

23 May 2022 21:11

The Magpie and Crown, Brentford

A bit grubby inside but the management are ok
Alright for a pint before and after the match but it’s still a fair walk to the ground
Worth a try but nothing more than a working class locals pub

23 May 2022 21:09

The George and Dragon, Brentford

Now Demolished!!!

23 May 2022 21:05

The Six Bells, Brentford

The barmaid was the friendliest girl in the world but they had no Guinness or Fosters and Carling so although it’s a nice pub it’s not one for me

23 May 2022 21:04

The Beehive, Brentford

I’m not sure Prince Charles has ever been in here or if Jesus would eat here but the new landlord and landlady sure know how to run a pub
It is now clean and hygienic and service is with a smile and they serve you in the order you arrived at the bar,not on how matey they are with you
With the improvements and regeneration of the Brentford area this pub should now do very well

23 May 2022 21:00

The Triple Crown Inn, Richmond

Sadly another pub bites the dust. Some say it is permanently closed, others say there’s a chance it may reopen as there is renovation work being carried out but then again people are disagreeing wether it is being converted into offices or flats but I’ll let you know the outcome.
Not that anyone reads this site anymore.
Was my favourite pub in Richmond even though Mick was a miserable goat but Preeya,Claire and Ally were beautiful friendly barmaids who made my evenings in here over twenty years ago very pleasant
I miss you girls xx

8 May 2022 13:53

The Admiral Nelson, Whitton

Only been in a few times on a Saturday lunch time and a couple of times on a Sunday evening where they tend to call time early if it’s quiet but it’s better than the Duke or the White Hart for clientele so definitely my favourite pub in Whitton

15 Apr 2022 14:10

The Duke of Cambridge, Twickenham

Bar maids were lovely but literally 8 chavs all around 18 years old were sat in a row at the bar trying to be intimidating
Should be a good pub in such an affluent area but too many idiots appear from somewhere and spoil the place

15 Apr 2022 14:06

The White Hart, Whitton

Nice traditional pub which is very well run but spoilt by riff raff and kids running about everywhere even late in the evenings

15 Apr 2022 14:03

The Chapelhay Tavern, Weymouth

If you can find it and love proper pubs and decent human beings the enter The Chapelhay
Only had two different owners since the 50's,the current owner since 1998 which shows what a brilliant place this is.

4 Apr 2022 15:26

The Duke of Albany, Weymouth

I was the only one in here the other evening. But as with the Dolphin the people who run it are trying their best to rid the place of the dealers and users who used the place as a second home.Always worth giving the place a chance.I'll revisit again soon and update to see wether a busier night see's better or the same customers.

4 Apr 2022 15:22

The Prince of Wales, Weymouth

Gone!!!Never to reopen as it's now someones home

4 Apr 2022 15:19

The Dolphin, Weymouth

As per the previous comment albeit 5 years ago this pub has done well in a shady area. Not sure if anyone reads these comment anymore, they certainly don't post much by the look of it but pop in and meet the hard working people who own The Dolphin

4 Apr 2022 15:18

The Shipwrights Arms, Shaldon

Has reopened but it appeared the smaller bar with the dart board is no longer used
Technically now a restaurant with a spacious garden which is enclosed so no great views of the estuary

3 Apr 2022 13:35

Ferry Boat Inn, Shaldon

Was packed when I entered but most of the customers were passing cyclists but Shaldon is a small tourist town so I expect the place gets packed in the summer especially as the beer garden sits next to the estuary
Friendly locals and staff, revisited Saturday night and the place was empty but the perfect place in Shaldon to enjoy a pint or two

3 Apr 2022 13:30

The Ship Inn, Teignmouth

Seems to have been done up and lost it’s traditional appearance but it’s still a great place and has lovely views of the water
Friendly and patient bar staff who had to pour endless supplies of baby Guinness to the scooterists staying nearby

3 Apr 2022 13:24

Ye Old Jolly Sailor, Teignmouth

Oldest pub in town but very modern inside
Most people were eating so probably more of a restaurant than a pub but compared to the pub next door anywhere would seem a nice place

3 Apr 2022 13:20

The Devon Arms, Teignmouth

How on earth the barmaid would want to work here is anyone’s guess
The main bar had around 6 people in it who were totally lifeless compared to the liveliest barmaid I encountered all day and the smaller bar was full of chavs
I felt like I had wasted half an hour of my life in here, never again!!

3 Apr 2022 13:18

The Blue Anchor Inn, Teignmouth

Much smarter than the pub next door and much more expensive
Very large outdoor area including a covered section where most people sat
Barmaid was polite and if you come across this pub on the edge of the town I’d recommend it

3 Apr 2022 13:14

3 Apr 2022 13:14

The Teign Brewery Inn, Teignmouth

Looks tired and dated from the outside and inside is slightly better but it’s how I like pubs to be,traditional and welcoming as this place is.
Three very friendly barmaids and some characters drinking their lives away but they bothered no one and I will pop in here again on my next visit to this lovely town

3 Apr 2022 13:09

The Milford Arms, Isleworth

A bit too trendy for me being a fan of traditional boozers but it was full on a Saturday afternoon and they have musical entertainment in the evenings
Couldn’t stay long enough to hear the singer but this pub is a goodun

31 Mar 2022 18:38

The Coach and Horses, Hounslow

A curry house now,not a pub anymore

31 Mar 2022 18:35

The Moon Under Water, Hounslow

Typical Wetherspoon pub in a dump of a town, bar staff were ok but locals drinking there dole money and lives away won’t entice me back

31 Mar 2022 18:33

The Windmill, Hounslow

Now a curry house, sums up Hounslow to a tee

31 Mar 2022 18:30

The Windmill, Hounslow

Now a curry house, sums up Hounslow to a tee

31 Mar 2022 18:30

The Cross Lances, Hounslow

Very traditional interior and staff seem friendly enough
Sadly it has been virtually empty on the two occasions I have visited recently and one of those visits was at 9 on a Saturday night
Sadly a likely soon to be another lost pub thanks to Britain’s left wing politics

31 Mar 2022 18:29

The Boot, Weymouth

A very well run locals pub which is always a pleasure to drink in
The barmaids assured us the place is genuinely haunted and have a few tales to tell about their experiences

31 Mar 2022 18:00

The New Inn, Upwey

Demolished unfortunately

31 Mar 2022 17:56

The Riverhouse Inn, Upwey

Closed and will not reopen

31 Mar 2022 17:54

The Charlotte Despard, Archway

Looks a bit scruffy from the outside and opens at 5pm weekday but a bit earlier on a Saturday but inside it’s a lovely boozer with a variety of clientele of all ages but we’ll behaved and polite with no intentions of doing nowt else but enjoy themselves
Definitely on my London pub list
Friendly staff too

20 Mar 2022 13:54

The North Star, Finchley Road

I was the only person in here on a Sunday at exactly mid day although the landlady was telling the barmaid to make sure the Sunday lunch menus were on the table so I assume they were expecting a few more customers
I always feel sorry for people trying to run a pub in London as it can’t be easy for a variety of reasons, extreme violence and many residents who don’t drink for religious reasons but judging by the attitudes of the staff and management I doubt this place will survive for a great deal longer

20 Mar 2022 13:47

The Jolly Sisters, Islington

I feel privileged to have drunk a pint in this pub
Completely out of place in a council estate you’ll find this black and white old school boozer proudly standing out
I visited once on a Sunday afternoon and had a pint with the genuine old school Londoners and again after an Arsenal home match which was still an equally friendly evening
Please visit this pub and keep it alive,it deserves it

20 Mar 2022 10:43

The Hare and Hounds, Sunbury on Thames

Lovely friendly bar maid who’s charm enticed me to stay longer than I had planned.Had the usual appearance and crowd of a typical local pub which is what I like so a definite return for me

20 Mar 2022 10:34

The Grey Horse, Sunbury on Thames

Very friendly welcome when I entered and one of the two other drinkers was friendly enough, the other customer was a miserable arrogant old snob
My overall impression was both the barman and pub could do with a brush up but is a nice local which deserves to be used more by the locals, most of the pubs in Sunbury have gone and it would be a shame to lose this one.
A smarter dress code instead of a just got out of bed one from the staff and a bit of elbow grease on the walls and this will be a gem

20 Mar 2022 10:30

The Globe Inn, Weymouth

Very friendly back street locals pub with a few smart vintage scooters parked outside on a wednesday. Also Vicky the barmaid is gorgeous.

11 Aug 2016 13:46

The Red Lion, Weymouth

i would rate the pub higher if the bar staff seemed a bit more interested and the barman with the beard didn't have a "come and have a go if you think your hard enough" attitude to all the male customers who ordered drinks.Go and work in a pub in South London if you think your so tough mate.
