A brilliant new ly re-opened pub. The beer selection is superb and the pub is spotless being recently redecorated.
The landlady is called Lesley and she is most friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended.

In the Wethers car park on the RHS I got a 95 parking ticket recently from a scam firm 'Valid Parking', which is now 150 from another debt collecting scam firm 'Roxburghe' as I refuse to pay it. The signs are not illuminated and I was there for 10 mins on a Friday night at 10 pm and it was dark.
This is a dirty scruffy pub and the toilets stink. It needs shutting down for a total make-over.
Wetherspoons, you can do better than this.
The staff are OK though.
THE PARKING SCAM MUST BE STOPPED.

An excellent pub with a great landlord Ian and very friendly and helpful staff.
Always a good selection of real ales are always available.
Tasty meals served until mid-evening, particularly excellent value for Diamond Club card holders.
Every two months the Heaton Moor Historical Society meet here for free local talks on Thursdays at 7 pm [see signs for details].
Probably the only pub for miles around which hosts a knitting group.

The Moon Under Water, Deansgate
Pretty crap pub.
At weekends it takes ages to get served
Wanting some real ale on a Friday night, almost everything was 'off' - they don't even turn round the pump clips.
JW Lees off, Three Rivers off, - why don't the staff just change the barrels - typical Wethers crap service.
Music lousy & volume blasting at weekends
Definately not up to Lloyds No1 standards.

Great busy corner pub

Real ale - Joseph Holts bitter particularly recommended

Over one weekend, almost no real ale, keg only

Well worth a visit.
A really splendid pub, most pleasantlandlord, fascinating interior, great heritage, formally the George and Dragon from about 1824, rebuilt in 1841 to enable the enlargement of the market.
Live music frequently, fantastic local groups play here.
Pity about the beer - only Robinsons real ale on offer - you either love it or hate it [bad hang-over fare in my book, sadly!].
A guest ale would be 'magic'.

Great pub for adult drinkers, no kids!
Best pub on Heaton Moor Road
Good beer, reasonably priced, good service.

Georgian pub, formally The Queen Anne - interesting layout
Has the smallest toilet in Europe - also claimed to have been a hangman's drop!
Also there is a haunted windowless room upstairs
Sam Smiths cosy pub
Daily newspapers available

Mid day service is good, very quiet generally
Food and service very good - 12 different meals served simultaneously after <20 mins
Good choice of real ales, usually all available [none of the Wethers 'line cleaning nonsense' when I've been in]
Fantastic toilets
Never smokey

The Crown and Anchor, Manchester
Holts best bitter excellent - heads a tad too large
Quite good bar service
Tables outside - plastic pots used outside [police edict]
A strange mix of 'interesting' clientele
27 May 2005 01:08
The Manchester and County, Manchester
Usually lousy service even in their current summer beer festival, and most beers are 'off'.
Staff can't be bothered to change barrels
7 real ales were 'off' tonight; left with a 3.3% mild or a 5% type-lager only on draft, apart from the crap keg stuff; no real ale bitter
Wethers now do not turn round the clips when their beers are gone, too embarrassing presumably as they have next to nothing apart from keg on offer
27 May 2005 00:59
Typical Wethers pub, a bit dingy inside
Service can be very very slow, depending on which Duty Manager is on
Tacky beer 'garden' at rear
They regularly pull the 'line-cleaning' stint on Mondays when it's busy, on the beers on so-called offer
Very regularly run of of most popular beers 'cos nobody can be bothered to put on a new barrel
On Fridays & Sat nights, it's full of half dressed female chavs
Never smokey

FREE JUKE BOX

Dave & Gill licencees - nice people
You don't get thrown out too early
Good value food until 2.30 p.m.
Can be quite smokey
18 May 2005 00:51
a Sam Smiths pub
probably the best value ale in the area [Queens Head nearby same brewery]
very good pub meals, and a very busy pub
Bar closes at 11 p.m. on the dot whereas all the surrounding pubs stay open later
pleasant surroundings
very smokey generally, no 'non-smoking' room sadly
15 May 2005 01:27
Beerwise, this has to be the best pub in Stockport
A very well run pub, with usually >14 real ales available
Most pleasant landlord & landlady
Beer garden at rear
Great live music regularly
[I must agree, the grotty gents stop this pub getting 10/10]
15 May 2005 01:13
Marvellous Joseph Holt's beer ALWAYS in excellent condition
Meals are prepared on premises, great quality and value
Fantastic landlady, called Beryl
Bar staff are very friendly
Historically this was the 'Clock House' owned by Jacob Winter, [magistrate and councillor]who was a clock and watchmaker, silversmith, optician and jeweller in 1859]
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Griffin Hotel, Heaton Mersey
Great beer
Wonderful old Josheph Holt's pub with an amazing bar
After closing time, you don't get thrown out.
A very attractive beer garden
Sadly, a miserable landlady runs the place, otherwise I'd rate it 10/10!
PS it is not a hotel!

The Magnet, Stockport
Shorty states "it is missing a very vital ingredient" .
What precisely it the missing ingredient then Shorty?
This is a great pub in my opinion.
