went in one Sunday afternoon whilst the wife was shopping. In fact, I would expect a lot of this pub's trade coming in this way. I've been in the Railway numerous times and can never quite make up my mind as to whether it's brilliant or a bit average. One one hand, you've got 14 real ales on hand pump and very good value (£2.40ish a pint). However, on the other hand, too many times I've had a pretty average pint in there. Instead of going for quantity, I think they should concentrate on quality. Why not reduce the ales to something more manageable like 6 or 7? On my last visit, the first pint was cloudy and average. However, the second (Blonde Witch) was superb. The best pint I've drank in many months. Will the real Railway please stand up?! juninhocrunch - 20 Nov 2011 23:05

Another pub thats off the beaton track but well worth it. I believe its getting knocked down due to the new sainsburys which is a real shame. But ive heard they have another place in mind which is good news. A great range of real ales and bottle beers. A place that has loads of rail memoribilia due to the name of the pub and the landlord being a train driver. Its the only place ive seen a billiard table apart from a pub ive been to in Hebden Bridge. Lets make a save The Railway campaign. Caskales - 19 May 2011 16:28
Dirty pub poorly kept beer. Saw a landlord of a local pub order a pint it was given to him cloudy and no it wasnt a wheat beer the landlady seeing the landlord of the nearby pub sat and talked to him and didnt even offer to change the bad pint. I did notice it wasnt drank apart from one mouthful mancunianlass - 3 May 2011 20:13
