This place has had its ups and downs but has now become quite a decent pub.

When it first opened after the Holts refurbishment I didn't like it; there were large screen TVs in every room showing football at a very high volume, and there was nowhere in the pub you could go to escape from it.

This has now been toned down and in the week the pub is a pleasant place for a quiet drink. The draught Holts is always on good form and value for money, and on top of this there are often special offers on various beers. Nice barmaids too.

At weekends there is usually some live entertainment, last night this was in the shape of a George Michael impersonator - not my cup of tea but very popular. On these nights the pub is usually packed. I'll stick to weekdays!

Now re-opened as a Holts pub.

Dear Friends, I have read your review of this pub, and I agree with everything that has been said, except for one thing, it is about 2 years out of date. I used to go in the Grey Horse, which is a historic listed building going back as far as 1909, the original having been demolished to allow for road widening. Yes, there were problems when the lunatics were running the asylum, but now Holts have it, and it is being run properly. It has had a major refit, and the idiots who used to cause problems are no longer a problem. I suggest if you can be bothered, to come down and review it once more, and meet with the new landlord, and check out what there is on offer. Then I hope you will revise your negative profile on this web site. This has been restored to a proper community pub for the people of Reddish and the surrounding area. If you want to see a closed pub, go to the Houldsworth Arms just up the road in Houldsworth Square, then you will see what can happen to a good pub, when it is not run properly. Regards - Mike

This pub has recently reopened having been taken over by Holts and undergone a major refit. I've yet to visit but will do soon and will report back.
