9 Feb 2010 19:59

The White Horse, Shere

This place still has crap beer and awful service.

4 Feb 2009 14:33

The Abinger Arms, Abinger Hammer

G/K IPA 99p a pint by any chance ??????? Well it will clear their drains if they have a problem.

4 Feb 2009 14:31

The George Abbot, Guildford

This is a well kept town pub,the beer is always good.
You would never know that half this place used to be a "sports shop" run by and called Harry Hughes i think.

4 Feb 2009 14:02

Scrumptious, Guildford

Went passed the once good town pub,now it looks a rather cheap/tacky hangout.
AVOID

4 Feb 2009 13:59

Crown Inn, Westcott

The only genuine comments on this pub have been far from complimentary and having been in in the last 2 weeks that is certainly the case. Its about time in my view this pub was taken off this site for a few months that might get the landlord to stop this farce of the one hit tossers. 0/10

28 Jan 2009 12:27

The Abinger Arms, Abinger Hammer

This is in my view a drinkers pub that`s where they seem to pitch themselves,i have always found it fine for a beer but never tempted to eat here.
It`s also in a position if you blink you`ve driven straight by.
I really hope they get someone in soon and it`s not another one to bite the dust.

25 Jan 2009 19:31

The Red Lion, Godalming

I walked past yesterday lunch time the dog policy must be working "not" the place was empty.
Again i ask would people go into a pub that has carpet covered in dogs hair and order food ?????
Once the best in Godalming amen. 2/10

22 Jan 2009 12:37

Crown Inn, Westcott

Speleo1 you really wonder why people question comments like yours (welcome to the site by the way) if you start commenting on more than just this pub you will get some cred.Thats the problem with "The Crown"most if not all of the good comments come from one off newbies, which does the pub no good at all.
I popped in last week and again i will say its a below average village pub, very tatty from the outside and the carpark looks like a dumping site.

16 Jan 2009 16:30

Scrumptious, Guildford

Times change as has been said many times before but maybe a change too far on this occasion,i do hope someone else takes this pub on but a warning it is a "Punch Taverns" outlet.

16 Jan 2009 16:19

White Hart, Old Woking

This has always been very much a locals pub,i have used it a number of times and always found the beer/lagers good decor. dated, not a place we would think of going to eat.

9 Jan 2009 20:29

The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton

Dai a question for you, it`s not a to harder one so you won`t have to think about it for too long, are you slerpys twin brother??

4 Jan 2009 20:54

The Sun Inn, Dunsfold

4 Jan 2009 19:38

The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton

Dai have noted the times you`ve made your last couple of comments i would suggest you get a nice strong black coffee and take a dip in it!!

4 Jan 2009 10:27

The Rambler Country House, Edale

Is that goat? sheep? nope spencer1963 it`s bulls``t we smell, your comment is like and advert a PR company would write. So all the people that know this site will totaly disreguard your cheap stunt.

3 Jan 2009 10:02

The Crown and Sceptre, South Croydon

I had heard that Greenpeace had got the slerp and done us all a favour and chaged him for his own good in Sourf Croydon. If seen please do not feed.

2 Jan 2009 15:27

The Crown and Cushion, Blackwater

evie and FrankFr both joined on the same day i don`t subscribe to coincidence, maybe they cohabit or more likely they are one person.
On our last visit to this pub we found it below average,so no reason to go back.

2 Jan 2009 15:20

Crown Inn, Westcott

Keep it up you one comment no hopers,at least the last member of the Prat lodge got some thing right. This pub is very very popular with passing tourists thats why they just keep passing not stopping just keep on passing.
I`m sure that jimiboi left a L off the end of his name coz these reincarnations are as annoying as one.

1 Jan 2009 20:06

The Robin Hood, Guildford

I still think this is better that The Oak it`s spit and sawdust yes but more down to earth people. (except the landlord he`s in outer space )

1 Jan 2009 17:33

The Royal Oak, Guildford

Good pub just needs to get shoot of the TV and get a guest ale in,there is life after Fullers ale you know.

1 Jan 2009 17:28

The Keep, Guildford

This pub has not been the same since it changed its name from The Two Brewers a few years ago now and used by students,it was a good old Guildford drinking den then.

1 Jan 2009 17:26

The Britannia, Guildford

Slugbreff (great name)i totally agree with your comment on kids.I was in one of my fav pubs the other day and these bloody rug rats were running all over the place yelling spilling drink on new carpets as well as food, and what were the so called parents doing sweet FA,thank goodness the bar guy came up and told the them that other people were in the pub not only them and the children had to be quiet and seated,as he walked off all they did was bitch about the pub not being child friendly.Child friendly be boll`xed adults go into a pub to get away from all the noise and relax not put up with some elses screaming brats.
Rant over.
I have always found the beer good here and staff on the ball and thank goodness it`s back to being called The Bitannia.

1 Jan 2009 17:21

The Green Man (Harvester), Burpham

Now as flat as a pancake.Supermarket on the way.

31 Dec 2008 19:09

The Font and Firkin, Brighton

This pub a couple of years ago was great always buzzing good friendly staff, whats changed??

31 Dec 2008 16:52

The White Horse Inn, Priors Dean

If you enjoy stepping way back in time then this is a gem.Two bars plus a restaurant area, fire roaring lovely relaxing atmosphere, large choice of real ales,(not so good on the lagers tho) food good.
You will need a map i`m sure sat.nav would get you lost.
Great trip out for the summer months.
Only neg.point the staff could be more friendly.

31 Dec 2008 16:46

The Kings Arms Royal Hotel, Godalming

With the money spent on this lovely old building over the last couple of years it should be so much more than it is,had a pint which was alright would not think of eatting here, does not feel relaxing.

31 Dec 2008 16:38

The Royal Oak, Pirbright

A couple of years since my last comment on this pub, only popped in for a pint which was ok,as the food and service was so bad last time we would not risk it again, still a nice place but could be alot better if it was`nt part of a chain.

31 Dec 2008 16:31

The Weavers Arms, Guildford

Graham78 it`s all gone quiet after the landlady shouted at us,i do hope the dart & pool teams are up and running now and theres not too much swinging going on (in the trees i mean) !!
Happy new year.

31 Dec 2008 16:25

The Market Hotel, Reigate

A bloody mary with no vodka, more like bloody awfull.
Poss no rum for that do either Biker.
New name suggestion "The Doo Doo`s Inn" ?

31 Dec 2008 16:18

Crown Inn, Westcott

Yes Barry Barnes welcome, but i do like Biker and others yet to see this comment smell a rat,one hit (comment) wonders are like a fart they are around for a couple of seconds then gone, shame as this pub is getting to be a bit of a joke and no one believes a word said in these comments.
But nice try raphaella oops Barry.

31 Dec 2008 16:12

The Little Park Hatch, Cranleigh

I must say i do like this pub but it could do with a damm good clean.Beers are well kept no comment on food did not have any its more of a drinkers pub.

21 Dec 2008 10:29

The Richard Onslow, Cranleigh

This pub`s rating is far higher than it should be at 2.2/10, so make of that what you will. 0/10 here

21 Dec 2008 10:24

The Barley Mow, West Horsley

Reading Bikers comment below takes me back a little as this pub prides it`s self on the food/restaurant side of the business,so what hope for the place. We have had a meal here in the past but after reading the SOTD we won`t be back. Gone from 7/10 to 2/10.

20 Dec 2008 13:20

The Goldsworth Arms, Woking

I`d rather sit on a park bench than pay that, come to think of it i live on a park bench Hic.

17 Dec 2008 15:02

Tickeld Ivory, Guildford

I have to say i do like this bar, but as already stated this is the place to go at the moment and as in lots of cases one minute your up the next your on the way down so the attitude by certain people in here needs changing or it could come back and bite ones arse.
The rating must mean something at 3/10 its not much higher than chavs corner next door.

17 Dec 2008 14:58

The Black Horse, Gomshall

I have met both in Gomshall, that is a bit of sport and a few runts, mind you the latter wern`t very good runners.

13 Dec 2008 14:08

The Black Horse, Gomshall

younglads comment is not going to happen.
Sad to say i think this pub is a goner for good.

12 Dec 2008 17:56

The Squirrel at Hurtmore, Hurtmore

I hear the landlords gone missing and the pubs shut, anyone know more??

12 Dec 2008 16:39

Crown Inn, Westcott

Another newbie (o yes) welcome to the site brianlove, hope you get out and about to lots of the pubs in the area and not just join in with this scam.

11 Dec 2008 21:25

Alfold Barn, Alfold

Had a lovely meal here and beer is well kept.I agree this is far more a restaurant than a pub but all the same good service and we will be back.

8 Dec 2008 10:53

O'Neills, Bournemouth

Sorry guv have i missed something here, what exactly are You saying about your pub ?? I think your cheap advertising stunt is backfiring, and no i dont think i`m the only clever one on this great site but as there are so so many newbies on this pubs page thort i`d just mention it.
About O`Neills personally i think its got about as much Irish charm as an old wellie and on my next visit to Bournmouth i will make a point of not calling in.

8 Dec 2008 10:38

The Cricketers, Croydon

Mrpalmer just buy the bloody place.

7 Dec 2008 09:23

O'Neills, Bournemouth

Another newbie who only writes up this one pub, Get a life.
0/10 for stupidity.

7 Dec 2008 09:14

O'Neills, Bournemouth

MPD warning and another cheap advertising stunt going on here me thinks it can only be staff/management doing this.Last 3 comments from people or person who joined this site on 6th Dec.and 50 mins of each other.(What a muppet)
1/10 for cheek.

6 Dec 2008 15:24

The Cricketers, Croydon

Another one pub user i see.

5 Dec 2008 14:44

The Orange Tree, Havering Atte Bower

Well done guys for sussing pedro007 out.Now pedro007 if you get caught out take it on the chin like a real man and stop crying. When in the area will miss this pub out i think.

5 Dec 2008 14:41

The Cricketers, Croydon

Jealous of what MrPalmer i think its the other way around as most people have more than one pub to comment on (except the six people on this pubs site),you can throw the odd one liner in about another pub ho hum i would suggest you get out more!

29 Nov 2008 14:42

The Market Hotel, Reigate

markethotel2 you are probably not a bad bloke but you come across on here as a bit of a pratt.Instead of fighting your cause on here get the cleaning gear out and get to work.
Looking at comments on here from people who know pubs i would not go near here, not even to use the loo`s.

27 Nov 2008 20:51

Crown Inn, Westcott

Well one muppets back i see (raphaella)Was there was one called ralph ??Just asking!!

27 Nov 2008 17:14

The Cricketers, Croydon

Another Cheap advertising stunt going on here me thinks or is it the last SIX people to make glowing comments on this pub only use one place ??(click on user name to see were else they have been) Dog ?cat? nope its Bulls```t .1/10 fo the cheek.

27 Nov 2008 17:00

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

Question AnthonyRH how can a pub change so so much in 3 days from when ADavies was in, i would say you need to get out more. Can`t wait to see what it`s really like (as i said before it WAS a very good pub)

25 Nov 2008 16:47

The Stag on the River, Eashing

This is another pub that just can`t get it right ,don`t know why but they just don`t seem to be able to cope .

25 Nov 2008 16:39

The Village House Hotel, Findon

Biker i think your on the money here mate,MPD person on the loose.

25 Nov 2008 16:36

The Plough, Coldharbour

Fullbelly (with a name like that you ate somewhere else no dought) that is an out dated law a pub does not have to supply free water and to be fair with the rent and rates landlords/ladies have to pay i can quiet understand that. What sometimes happens are walkers and bikers come into a pub mob handed and tend to take the place over (not always, agreed) which can get not only the people who run the places backs up but also other customers as well so its not all oneway.
Got to say on our visit the staff were friendly beer ok no comment on food as we didn`t eat, place is a bit scruffy.

20 Nov 2008 19:14

The Dover Arms, Ash

Passed by a few months ago and noticed the plastic flowers had gone and the place was being cleaned up (i do love the old Friary sign). Now however i here the pub is closed due to some oiks pinching all the tiles from the roof i know this ain`t the best of areas but how low can you go.

20 Nov 2008 17:46

Scrumptious, Guildford

Just been closed for a month as their appeal failed.Shame this was a hard down to earth drinkers pub in its hay day.

19 Nov 2008 19:03

The Red Lion, Godalming

There is no excuses for smelly dogs (should only be allowed in public or separate bars anyway) or dirty bars especially where food is served.
But remember this was a very good pub when privately owned,Then in walk Punch pub co.with their cheque book, kiss goodbye to said good pub.And they have the cheek to say thats the only way most landlords will get to run their own pubs, well kiss my butt Punch (not an open offer i might add) an individual person has not got a flying figs chance of buying a freehouse in this area due to these greedy pub co`s.
Rant of the day over. 2/10

19 Nov 2008 14:51

The Wishing Well, Peckham

Yes simon i will have half wat ever bertrands on.
Respect

18 Nov 2008 20:22

Farriers, Guildford

No leave it as it is lol

18 Nov 2008 20:17

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

I hear the Dog is being taken over by people that have 2 pubs in Guildford both of which they have changed the names of also turning them into bars and away from the trad.pub. As a pub person i hope they don`t ruin this lovely place like the other s.I don`t know why this pub keeps changing hands as i`m sure a competent landlord could make a go of it here.(not the get rich quick brigade tho.}.
We can but hope. Will leave my rating at 9/10 and will call in at a later date.

18 Nov 2008 20:14

The Anchor, Wisley

carussell i note the times you have placed your advert on here and have to ask what does meths taste like? if its not meths it must be something else just as bad to make you imagine that this pub is anything other than a below average place. On our visits the food was Brake Bros value pack range at best, "done" in poss.a very good microwave.
The only reason this place gets people in is its location no other reason.2/10

17 Nov 2008 13:22

The Kings Head, Guildford

I`m with the Nun on this one !! This is one of the best(if not the best) pubs in Guildford, very good range of lagers which i was on the other night, the cider could be better ie Thatchers and yes BBB there are very good ciders to be had.

ps BBB you can keep your toothbrush thankyou.

14 Nov 2008 19:30

The Star, Godalming

I called in the other day to give it another try, beer was fine but again the smell of burnt food got the better of me and i left PDQ,so this place is not my cup of tea or glass of strange tasting cider.

14 Nov 2008 18:40

The Red Lion, Shamley Green

You get a warm welcome here if your eating but NOT if you only want a drink so bewarned.

9 Nov 2008 16:18

The Stoke, Guildford

Fills a gap, but personally i would rather sweep the A3 with a toothbrush than drink in here.

9 Nov 2008 16:11

The Drummond, Guildford

Surreydinks what village setting ? its on a main road on the outskirts of Guildford !!!

9 Nov 2008 16:07

The Hare and Hounds, Guildford

Indian restaurant on its way.

9 Nov 2008 15:59

The Cricketers, Guildford

3.40 a pint indeed and not a full one at that,i don`t mind a head on a beer but nearly an inch of it no thank you very very much.
Will we be going back Mmmm let me think.

9 Nov 2008 15:58

The Royal Oak, Bookham

Got to agree Biker, whats that smell dog ?cat? nope it`s bull```t.On our visit we found the pub ok nothing special beer alright, did not eat so no comment there, but top 40 no no no.5/10

9 Nov 2008 15:51

Crown Inn, Westcott

Food was Average so there no returns.
Know what i mean,i go with simwilliams`s view 100 percent.
2/10 for being there.

29 Oct 2008 13:56

The Bulls Head, West Clandon

This pub used to be a lively friendly pub a few years ago, shame it has changed they seem to only want the eaters in and not the evening drinkers.
Management a bit up themselves in my opinion.5/10

19 Oct 2008 19:41

The Rowbarge, Guildford

Beerseller i wish you all the very best in your new venture, this has the prospect of being a resonable pub, just a shame about the location.
We will call in when your up and running.

19 Oct 2008 19:36

The Refectory, Godalming

Groinhammer sorry must disagree Bluebeckers/Edwins is anything but a family run business it`s a London Restaurant company with over a 100 outlets to it`s name.Food is still below average for a restaurant chain.

19 Oct 2008 19:26

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

I hear this pub has been closed for a few weeks now,i do hope it`s not closed for good !!!!

19 Oct 2008 12:50

The Gribble Inn, Oving

Is it just me or is there suspicion cast over the last 6 comments ( all full of praise ) for this pub and everyone joined on or around the same day and some with only minutes between comments(whats the saying about self praise?), come on mangment/staff of The Gribble don`t take users of this site for mugs, the pub if its good enough will get good/bad comments from genuine customers not the Bull crap just printed.
Will call in when next in area.

8 Oct 2008 16:24

The Black Horse, Gomshall

GGG Enterprise and Punch own about 20,000 pubs and they`re one of the main reasons so many are closing down ( very high rents, totally unreasonable beer prices and no back up or just plain greedy barstewards ).
Younglad i take it you work for the group thats taken on this pub, wish you all the luck.A sports bar in a village pub is different to say the least, by the way whats a restrunt some kind of small pig maybe ??

23 Sep 2008 09:55

The Weavers Arms, Guildford

It`s funny how when you catch someone out on this site they get all shirty and holier-than-thou ( won`t be writing again i`m above all this )B`lloks.Take it on the chin like a man.
So graham78 i note theres not a team there at the Moment ( popular pub is it ?)
And as giveusabeer comments only people from Park Barn estate would ever use this pub.
Also please note i wish the new guys all the best and certainly do not wish to see any pub close.
Hope to see the ratings go up if its inproved that much.

18 Sep 2008 21:09

The Merry Harriers, Hambledon

MrsAlehouse (or is it the landlady herself) i have been to your pub on a number of occasions and always found the beer fine, the food however was not,the best i`ve ever had was a toastie.
So to find and come on this site within an hour of "ol" Bikers comment raises suspicion from us regulars.
ps Biker they certainly don`t sound like the magic ones ! Changed me rating 3/10

11 Sep 2008 18:27

Scarlett Arms, Walliswood

Were out with friends and passing so stopped off for a bite to eat,it`s all been referb`ed since our last visit and it looks fab, clean and tidy.Small bar so not a bar flies pub,it`s a Hall and Woodhouse outlet so if you like their beers your sound here (no Tangle foot),but alas if your a lager drinker your limited to one (Hoff Brew yuck).Food was above average (dont have the fish and chips tho.all batter no fish),garden has been laid out well.
Worth a drive out.

10 Sep 2008 20:22

The Cyder House Inn, Shackleford

Pubcrawler (of short distances)tell me do we have to book or is it as dead as a dodo, oooor packed with doodoo`s ??

10 Sep 2008 20:04

The Weavers Arms, Guildford

I don`t know how long you`ve known this pub graham78 but i have been going on and off for 30 odd years playing darts and pool for different pubs so get your facts right before spouting off.
Good if it has recently changed, but the best sunday roast thats a boast but then i read it again and you say "IN" Guildford not much competition there.

8 Sep 2008 13:53

The Keep, Guildford

Got to say the outside decor is well done same as the sign, well thought out.
Top marks for that.

5 Sep 2008 16:16

The Star Inn, Guildford

SurreyPubMan i think it helps if your an Emu or is that emo.
Happy days !!!

5 Sep 2008 16:14

The Royal Hotel, Guildford

I can see a block of flats here in the not too distant future.

5 Sep 2008 16:03

The Hare and Hounds, Guildford

The pub has gone downhill and its a shame,i know times change but this was a very busy pub with a dart and pool team, sunday lunch`s were top notch, sadly not now.
Warning locals get behind the pub or lose it.

5 Sep 2008 15:59

The Weavers Arms, Guildford

The only thing amazing about this pub is its still open.
Still it keeps the locals happy.

5 Sep 2008 15:54

The White Horse, Hascombe

The last comment sounds like a bit of old sales speal to me or do you only walk to this one pub patrick123 ?
The place is still lacking in every aspect except the prices.
Far better pubs and quite near by.

28 Aug 2008 21:27

The Richmond Arms, Godalming

Have to say i do like this pub one of the better ones in Godalming.

28 Aug 2008 21:20

Yates's, Reading

I have a suggestion for a new name for this place "Toxic Sausage" any others ??

27 Aug 2008 20:12

Crown Inn, Westcott

Ps can i just ask is it Miss Piggy and Kermit or the 2 old gits?????

22 Aug 2008 10:00

I would rather raid a waste bin in the street for food than eat here -50/10

21 Aug 2008 21:21

Crown Inn, Westcott

The Muppets are here to stay i see.
And how if your not staff/management do you know so much of the goings on.
I think your doing the pub a disservice !!!!!

21 Aug 2008 21:17

The Refectory, Godalming

Got to say honey1979 you are easily pleased if you like the food here,i have had better Birds Eye food than this in fact is it the same? And as a comment below asks why a restaurant is on this site coz a pub this ain`t.
Great interior and building. 1/10

20 Aug 2008 12:01

The Yacht, Bexleyheath

Come on guys i wouldn`t wait 20 mins to collect a lottery win let alone a pint and as for an hour for food sod that(let your feet do the talking and walk away),i travel this area and taken note of all the comments below so next time i`m in Bexleyheath i`m sure i`ll make straight for this gaff to eat and drink!!!!! YER RIGHT.

18 Aug 2008 10:58

The Boatman, Guildford

Well blow me down with a feather Biker ol buddy for a place that promotes it`s self as a gastro pub that report (scores on the doors)makes an interesting read especially as its owned by the biggest "Pub Co"in the country guess who ,yep Punch, so there is no reason for it not to have a brand new kitchen which is kept spotless. Will not be using this pub again shame as its such a great location.

14 Aug 2008 20:38

The Cyder House Inn, Shackleford

Spot on Stroller young feller

8 Aug 2008 19:27

The Harrow Inn, Compton

Went passed here end of last week and the place is closed for "referb" Mmmmm it was done not that long ago.Notice said open this week i passed by Monday still looked shut to me.Strange goings on me thinks.

7 Aug 2008 19:32

The Cyder House Inn, Shackleford

I take it August is the month the management/staff decided to have an advertising boost (all be it a cheap one) for this pub, click on to theyummymummy and above (Biker excluded)to see why regular people to this site will see through this sham.
Tell me gaudyjohn where is the cyder inn anyway???
We have used this place on and off for 12 years it`s a Hall and Woodhouse tied pub,so if you like their beers you`ll be ok,it`s had lots of management changes in the time we`ve been using it, so lots of ups and downs, our last visit was the latter.
If its changed again recently we wish the new guys all the best, but would suggest they get on and bring the standards up rather than get on here and talk about it.

7 Aug 2008 19:24

The Rowbarge, Guildford

Was traveling on the Woking road and saw something out the corner of my eye so turned around at the roundabout and headed for this pub and guess what, its gone, all boarded up.Got to say it was not the best in the world due to the location on this estate, but its still another pub gone.
Got to say a big thank you to the pub co`s and govenment for all the help they give to the pub trade.
THANK YOU, YOU HAND CRANKING IDIOTS !!!!
Rant over for today.

4 Aug 2008 09:52

The Duke of Cumberland, Henley

Fantastic little pub, i was told it was once 3 cottages, also been advised to book if you want to eat.Its been years since i first came across this place compleatly by chance, just passed it again and will be calling (booking)in the next few weeks can`t wait.

2 Aug 2008 12:56

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

Always remember staff/management a cheap advertising campaign can come back and bite your bum!!!
Going by my learned friend the Blue Peter will be my first port of call, but will visit you as i want to see what the advert is all about.

2 Aug 2008 12:48

Crown Inn, Westcott

Has the landlord employed a cheap PR company to promote himself ? he gets as many compliments as the pub its self and alot of them from one off posters mmmm i wonder !Is this an advertising stunt which is backfiring???
On my one visit here i found it a very average pub on a busy road, and have passed by on a number of occasions and found no reason to go back.

The Star, Godalming

I must have called on a bad day (lunch time) walked in there was a haze (not a purple one)and a burnt BBQ smell, no body behind the jump waited what seemed like ages ( to be fair a few mins)and left.Possibly the hot weather made me tetchy. Will give it another try one evening.

31 Jul 2008 15:19

30 Jul 2008 20:39

The Merry Harriers, Hambledon

At last its changed hands, sometimes it`s good to change landlords sometimes not,as this pub has been in the same family for so long i feel the latter.
On the positive side at least a bloody pub co`s not got it, so i wish the new owners all the best, but ask please don`t turn it into a gastro pub please please please.

29 Jul 2008 09:42

Auberge, Guildford

This used to be a car showroom years ago.It still feels that way now.

20 Jul 2008 13:53

The Jovial Sailor, Ripley

Hi hermiek just a note chap i think you will find that the rip off pub co. (Punch)own Spirit Group its their managed side of the company. You say i don`t like Punch Pub Co.you are right they are one of the main reasons so many pubs are closing down its the Very High Rents as well as the Rip OFF prices they charge a tied landlord for beers lose the beer tie and drinks could be 60p pint cheaper.
Rant well and truely over.

19 Jul 2008 10:09

The Albany, Guildford

Called in with a mate the other day had a relaxing few pints. It`s much more of a bar type place than a pub but it`s good as there arn`t lots of oik`s about.

13 Jul 2008 20:46

The Legion, Guildford

Last 4 reviews not kosher me thinks, dont belive me click on their names and see where else they have been !!!!

13 Jul 2008 20:35

The Star and Eagle Hotel, Goudhurst

I used to stay at this place regularly always found it quiet which was great after a long working day, staff always friendly lager good same as the food. They always gave me a large room which was great but i sometimes forgot the low beam in the middle of the room which is the same height as the middle of my forehead.

12 Jul 2008 14:34

The Five and Lime, Guildford

Staff and management at it again Shame on you!!!!

9 Jul 2008 18:06

Casino, Guildford

This place is the pits you just have to look at the place and see its Chav city.Who ever designed this was either drunk, stoned(should have been)or just has no class.
That to me sums up this whole corner of the town and includes Bar Med (what a toilet).

9 Jul 2008 17:53

Another Punch Pub Co. disaster it did have a good relaxed atmosphere a while ago not now. It`s the same as The White Horse Shere the Pub Co`s are killing good pubs by greed.Get real you morons.

5 Jul 2008 11:32

The Crown and Anchor, Old Woking

Is it me or is there a trend running through some of the reviewers on this pub.ie signing up making a couple of comments all great about The Crown and Anchor and not commenting ever again, just a question?

5 Jul 2008 11:26

The Kingfield Arms, Old Woking

This place has had more landlords over the last few years than MPs have had pay rises, going back a few years it was a good bozzer lets hope it can get back to those times.
But if its a Punch Co. Pub it will be a up hill battle.

5 Jul 2008 11:19

Scrumptious, Guildford

No Mr.R.what you`ll find the place closed for a few months due to magic mushrooms found in the curry (or something in that vain)i thought i got a bit of a kick out of the burger i had.Hummm

Any how we found the pub ok as giveusabeer says it`s not cheap but it`s good not many in the lunchtime we were there, service was good, portions just enough not large, beer is expensive but once again its not down to the landlord its those bloody Punch pub co. rip off merchants (dont we just hate them).Refurb has been done to a good standard possibly reflected in the prices.

16 Jun 2008 17:51

Wellesley, Waterloo

I quite often pop in here for a pint while waiting on good old Southwest Trains, have always found it ok staff are normally on the ball and lager cold and wet.Seeing alemans comment would buy my bloody crisps before entering station (not that i`m a tight git or anything).
I remember the good old Casey Jones burger joint just up from here where you used to eat the packaging and chuck the burger o for the Good Old Days !!

16 Jun 2008 17:45

The Woodman, Woodmansterne

I will chuck my 2 pence worth in on lipstick on a glass,it does not matter how good a glass washer you have it will not rid the glass of waterproof lipstick if its got to last on some womans lips alnight it will certainly last through a glass washer,no excuses it should be whiped first,we`ve been to some really snooty places were this has also happened.

14 Jun 2008 18:43

The White Horse, Shere

Last time we came in i commented the thought this place was on the up and had a good pint of lager,on this visit i was with some mates who all said their ales did not taste good,to which a local said the ales are never very good in here.Make of that what you will.

11 Jun 2008 17:24

The Royal Oak, Wood Street

This is a great pub for real ales same as the old Spread Eagle was years ago when Tony ran that, dont know about the food but ales you can`t beat this place.

5 Jun 2008 20:42

The Richard Onslow, Cranleigh

Seconds out round 3 possibly the only sort of round in this joint.

4 Jun 2008 20:34

The Inn on The Hill, Haslemere

I see the staff and management have come to life again.Sorry did not realize you were a member of staff 1eslie now i see why you get so so annoyed if some criticize`s this Restaurant or the other one (Percy arms Chilworth)keep on sticking up for your employer, not to much though a brown nose might appear !!!!!

4 Jun 2008 16:33

29 May 2008 11:16

The Duke Of Wellington, Portobello Road

Have not been in here for age`s it used to be a good bozzer shame to here its changed, the problem is the location (tourist trap) who ever owns it thinks they can get away with these prices, guys talk with your feet and walk on by.

14 May 2008 10:15

Waxy O'Connors, Piccadilly

This pub has about as much in common with a true Irish pub as Fosters has with a good lager, sweet fanny adams.Lets get back to the good old pub of yester year, just keep then cleaner than they were then.
Two hopes to that suggestion!!!!

30 Apr 2008 15:43

Founders Arms, Bankside

Was it a mirror you where talking to thedoc ???

23 Apr 2008 20:10

The White House, Guildford

They`ve not done a bad job on this building considering it`s not a true old Guildfordian pub and was a solicitors office for years, good location by the Wey not my cup of tea tho.

20 Apr 2008 15:17

The Drummond, Guildford

20 Apr 2008 14:38

The Drummond, Guildford

As i have said before i do like this pub but the picture above does it alot of credit as it looks nothing like that now, not that i want to diss.goths but the outside decor.makes you feel the place could be full of out of work ones. Its a chocolate brown col.that is peeling and looks very tired the curtains (dirty red)are falling down all in all puts people off going in.
Shame as the inside is good you can have a very chilled out time here.

20 Apr 2008 10:18

31 Mar 2008 19:19

The Vintners Parrot, Worthing

31 Mar 2008 18:56

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

Stopped of for a quick pint on our way to lunch with friends very pleasant will call again.

31 Mar 2008 11:02

Pub, Chilworth

I do always suspect that the staff have something to do with the very good comments on this site about one pub and one pub only do as Biker says click onto the user name and see where people have been before if its only one comment then beware( ie.Winebank and Ette).
This place is a very very expensive Havester type restaurant the service is poor beer not best kept and they want you in and out as quickly as possible not a place to have a chill out time.

28 Mar 2008 14:41

Farriers, Guildford

I have to totally agree with aleman this pub has always just not made it don`t know why the outside to me looks great but inside theres no spark.

9 Mar 2008 15:50

The Globe on the Lake, Alresford

We called in today and found the place quiet(Thursday lunch),the beer was fine and the menu had a good selection on it shame that most of it was not availible, what we did have though was very good the service was the same and friendly.
I can see what grubbytech ment about the awful marguee (if you can call it that)it looks cheap and very nasty i would not sit under the thing eating just in case something dropped in my food.
But would call again poss. not if it was busy.7/10

7 Feb 2008 17:57

The Wotton Hatch, Wotton

This is as far away from being a trad.English pub as you can get well done M&Butler another nail in the coffin of pub`s i hope this makes you proud. The place inside is alright as a restaurant but a pub it aint the prices reflect this as well 10 for a burger be blowed. The staff are a mixed bunch some friendly most not.I would sujest keep on driving find some where else to eat and drink.

29 Jan 2008 10:55

The Queens Head, East Clandon

Sorry folks to come back on here so soon but i have just noticed something very strange about entries for this pub all the people who have made comments (good ones)have only ever done so about this pub no others, makes you think that a cheap advertising stunt is going on here by the managment.
Isuppose it`s a coincidence that Lenka and Janep use the same 3 pubs all of which are in the same chain.
Don`t take us all for idiots.
Wonder how long this comment lasts!!!!

25 Jan 2008 19:36

The Wey Inn, Godalming

I have been told it has now changed hands that could be the problem. 2/10

23 Dec 2007 20:11

The Kings Arms Royal Hotel, Godalming

Went in the other day and it`s refurb has turned out very well. It`s now worth giving it a try.

The Merry Harriers, Hambledon

Called in the other day for a lunch time pint and it hasn`t changed since the last time i was here 20 odd years ago when Rick Parfit was a local. It`s great to find a pub like this and long may it last.
Take note Pub Co`s ( or should i say robbing gits) this is how a trad.English pub should be!!!!!!!!!!!!!

29 Nov 2007 17:47

The Ten Bells, Shoreditch

This is the worst and i do mean the worst pub i have ever had the misfortune to enter the place smelt like a gents lav.after a busy saturday night.I did not wish to be rude so i ordered a orange juice and got out as quick as i could.

16 Nov 2007 15:54

The Villagers Inn, Blackheath

Ooops i seemed to have rattled a few cage`s here.

Yes we did find this pub good a year ago but not on this visit and this place now is certainly not a GOOD example of British pubs.
My comment was not ment to be personal it was an observation.

P.s What is belgan beer and small porchens???

16 Nov 2007 15:48

The Keystone, Guildford

How this place rates as a 7/10 heaven only knows 60`s built pub no imagination at all should be on a council estate.
Saying that the beer was good did not eat so no comment on that, but still only worth a 5/10 at the very most.

15 Nov 2007 12:21

Tiger Tiger, Piccadilly Circus

Went to this place a little while ago unfortunately it was open and full of chav`sand chav`ets the place is rubbish over priced and the service well you can`t call it service.Got to say the doorman were good bit possey but hay ho. 2/10

The Donkey, Tilford

We called in here for a meal the other day can`t belive its over a year since we last came to this lovely little pub.Food and wine just as good as ever.
But do take heed of Bikers warning the car park is a bugger to get out of.

14 Nov 2007 20:27

The Villagers Inn, Blackheath

Its been nearly 18 mounths since we`ve been to this pub and i have to say we take absolutely no notice of comments by the landlords cronies (tenori,Rabbitfoole or LikelyLad)they have to be linked to the pub as its the only one they have written about strange that oops sorry Rabbitfoole has knocked a pub near by mmmmm.
We found the pub very mediocre in all ways food beers etc.but not in the prices they are anything but.
The only and i do stress only redeeming feature is the location.

14 Nov 2007 20:16

The Three Pigeons, Guildford

I have to agree it`s a GREAT shame that another of Guildfords oldest has gone. Sod all the eating house`s that were once pubs.I know it won`t happen but it would be fantastic if someone took over one of these place`s and turned it back into a real pub.Fantasy i know but hay ho.

28 Oct 2007 10:28

The Royal Oak, Guildford

Aleman i like this pub but its not run at all well.

28 Aug 2007 13:04

The Royal Oak, Guildford

Aleman i visited this pub ( which was one of me fav`s) again the other day and it needs a real good shake up its not that homely any more in need of a good clean & really needs a good landlord in to sort it out,or you could send the management on a management course if that would do any good!!

17 Jul 2007 08:52

The King Alfred, Godalming

The pub is not closed its got a couple of boarded up windows (every picture tells a story).Looked far from inviting so did not stop.

The Drummond Arms, Albury

Have not been in here for 2 years & how it has changed & what a shame. It used to have a lovely homely feel to it not anymore. The food has gone down hill, the lager was alright but hay ho.Where have all the locals vanished to, their end of the bar was empty.

The Mill at Elstead, Elstead

We tried to get into the Donkey Inn but that was packed so we called in here.Last time we where here the food and drink were very average, got to say this time both have improved greatly. Its a great setting, service was very good and friendly well worth recommending.

15 Mar 2007 18:31

The Three Horseshoes, Thursley

Sorry but i must have got the wrong pub going by the two comments below.
We found this place far from excellent it was very poor in fact. The food portions were as ajo said very very small.
I had the shepherds pie well were do i start it looked and tasted like Smash potato,i had to get my magnifying glass out to see the meat it was no more than 3/4inch thick and cost 9.00.(if i had got this from a supermarket frozen and paid more than 45p i would have been robbed).EAT ELSEWHERE

15 Mar 2007 18:23

Pub, Chilworth

Nice car park.( well its big anyway)
But the pub or should i say restaurant is very over priced, food was ok nothing to rave about ( the price far to expensive had to pay extra for every thing, even possibly the plates.) ( joke)
The beer was ok and only "ok" stick to the guinness to be safe.
Knowing the area i would carry on driving to Bramley or Wonersh far better place`s to eat. 4/10

8 Mar 2007 12:36

Pizza i had was very good, others in our party had different dish`s which were quote "ok",menu quite limited, but again if you like pizza you will love it here. The lager (fosters)was awful but the bitters were good.

24 Feb 2007 15:22

The Drummond, Guildford

Re my comment on 24hJAN. It was not The Boiler Room i was on about as being up themselves it was another pub that had just reopened up the other end of town used to be The Rats Castle i will say no more.

13 Feb 2007 18:55

The House of Blues, Godalming

Well blow me down with a feather, i have compleatly changed my mind about this bar.Went in the other night with friends and had a great time.Beer was fine (bottled i will add)music cool,a real chilled out night,it still reminds me of a scout hut but who cares if your having fun.

9 Feb 2007 19:02

The Albany, Guildford

We were up this end of town the other night so popped in to see what was going on,i have used this pub on and off for 20yrs so i will not be put off by snide remarks from a member of the management that gets on this site.It had a few people in not really buzzing.i will say the beer was ok so too was the wine,we did not eat so no comment there.I will say i do find it all a little plastic & not much atmosphere, maybe i got the wrong night.I wonder how long this comment last`s !!!!!!!

7 Feb 2007 14:30

The Royal Oak, Guildford

Went in yesterday for lunch the service was great but hold up the food, well it was only scampi & chips but it was yuck the scampi was rock hard.Come on people this place should not have a bad report on this site but you are getting very close to one.Plus point beer was pretty good.

26 Jan 2007 18:38

The Kings Head, Guildford

I have used this pub for a while and must say it dont change that much ,always a good atmosphere beers and lager kept well.Nice and re.laxing

24 Jan 2007 18:57

The Drummond, Guildford

I called in to see the revamp and must say it is impressive. The beer and lager range stocked is good. What i also liked alot was the staff are friendly and not up themselves like another establishment (which will remain nameless)which has just opened nearby. This is a well chilled out pub.

24 Jan 2007 18:42

The Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common

We have just been back after 6 months and had a very good meal, service & food was far better than on our last visit.Thank you guys for a lovley evening.

The Kings Head, Guildford

Great pub reasonable for food good if you like Fuller`s ales which are kept very well.

3 Jan 2007 20:41

The Robin Hood, Guildford

Well Chinless i do rate this & The Royal Oak as my 2 fav.pubs in Guildford.A negative comment last time i agree on the Oak as the staff let it down on my last visit.Guildford town centre is full of some crap pubs the surrounding areas are not.But it still should not scare you off putting a name to one`s comments.

3 Jan 2007 20:27

The Sun Inn, Dunsfold

Beeronaut The Hawk and Harrier is now a house ,had to be closed down due to the dregs of the earth using it.

30 Dec 2006 16:04

Worplesdon Place Hotel, Worplesdon

They have just spent alot of money on this place & from the look of the new menu and prices want it back sooner rather than later.Menu not to my taste, but we did order as we were here.I would rather have good home cooked food than a picture on a plate, this is our last visit till they change back again for the better.

29 Dec 2006 16:19

The Royal Hotel, Guildford

Builders/Drinkers pub no more no less.

28 Dec 2006 19:44

28 Dec 2006 14:23

The Prince Albert, Guildford

Good drinkers pub no more no less.

28 Dec 2006 14:18

The Star Inn, Guildford

One of the oldest pubs in Guildford and don`t it look it,went past in day light yesterday it looks a right dump.Put me off now.

21 Dec 2006 19:52

The Albany, Guildford

Went to go in for a drink but the place is not inviting enough,so went down to The Robinhood much more so .

21 Dec 2006 19:47

The Elsted Inn, Elsted

Have a look at the map see if you know where its pointing to,buggered if i know.

21 Dec 2006 19:33

The Withies Inn, Compton

Tried this pub twice now i found the people a bit up themselves, saying that the food was good the beer and wine was a bit pricey. But i found i did not relax here,so not for me.

21 Dec 2006 19:31

The House of Blues, Godalming

To me this place is like an old scout hut.Not my cup of tea give me The Sun next door anyday

21 Dec 2006 19:21

Hush, Godalming

It`s so bloody hush no one go`s to it what ever name they call it.

21 Dec 2006 19:16

The Royal Oak, Guildford

As i said before this is one of only my two fav. pubs in the town, but i must agree with other reviews the bar staff do let this place down .Every thing else comes first other than serving the customer.I do hope this changes as i dont want to be put off comming herE.

16 Dec 2006 13:28

The Keep, Guildford

Very cold looking place.Still had a look inside not sure if its a bar or a pub.Menu below average, drink range average.

16 Dec 2006 13:12

The Leathern Bottle, Godalming

Drinkers pub.Good trad.food & good beer what more could you ask for.

9 Dec 2006 17:10

The Manor Inn, Godalming

Well they have spent money on the place, but alas nothing changes still got dirty tables & food all over the floor. This is my last visit to this pub, restaurant, hotel which ever you want to call it,its still poor.
Turn the lignts off on your way out.

9 Dec 2006 17:08

The Red Lion, Godalming

Now i`m afraid this place can only go downhill. Why i hear you ask well its now owned by the "rip off pub co." in other words Punch Pub co.How this lot can call them selves a pub co.god only knows, with the rents & the price`s of beer they charge there tennants there will be no "pubs" as we know them today left in a few years time, they will be closed or have to change to eating house`s.
People be warned

9 Dec 2006 17:03

The Guildford Arms, Guildford

When it opens AGAIN its changing its name to The Alburny.Fingers crossed because its not been much since Keith & Barbs had it, The Rats was a great place then.

25 Oct 2006 19:43

The Barley Mow, Tilford

This is another pub we should all rave about but cant.Plus points location fantastic, village green, cricket& river, what more could you ask for.Down points "up them selves bar people" & someone tell the bloke that thinks he`s the landlord its not cool to walk about allday with a bottle of becks in his hand. You guys are here to seve not to look down your nose`s at us because we want another drink. So points out of 10 1 for being there. This was the 1st.pub i ever went into, i was one of the lucky people who went to the great Sheephatch School, but i will not be going again till the attitude changes

7 Oct 2006 16:16

The Red Lion, Milford

On second thoughts 3

7 Oct 2006 15:32

The Red Lion, Milford

Got to agree with anonymous 1st oct. after finding The White Lion shut called in here, it`s not a pub but again a restaurant, food not bad,but as a local go`s you can`t call it one. On that basis i mark it 5

7 Oct 2006 15:31

The White Lion, Milford

Called in for a spot of lunch Thur`s 5th Oct.lunch time 1.15pm to find it closed, doors locked.Whats going on ??

21 Sep 2006 20:42

The Royal Oak, Pirbright

Plus point no smoking, every other point you could think of negative sorry this is an awful place.

8 Sep 2006 16:17

The William IV, Albury

Stopped off on my own, this place is quaint & welcomming,One downside is the bar flies don`t move for you, but dont let that put you off.Good range of local beers & food good.

6 Sep 2006 17:22

Flares, Guildford

I really don`t think this place should be called "FLARES" should be "PANTS" cos thats what it is.

30 Aug 2006 10:45

The Rowbarge, Guildford

If this pub was located any where else on the river other than on this estate it would be good, alas it is where it is and its awful.

18 Aug 2006 12:00

The Guildford Arms, Guildford

Closed for about 3wks now.

16 Aug 2006 12:10

All Bar One, Guildford

This place rates along side Mambo`s and Voodoo loung the worst 3 bars in Guildford.I will not slate this place as all the bad comments below have summed it up perfectly.
Don`t waste your money in here!!!!!!!!!!

16 Aug 2006 12:07

The Thai Terrace, Guildford

Realy good food, reasonable choice of drinks, sevice was very good. This is a Restaraunt not a pub.Still a great place to go.

16 Aug 2006 11:58

The Seahorse, Shalford

I have always rated this pub very highly till now.Called in a couple of times now mid afternoon, gone to the bar staff just sitting around no one makes a move to serve, they look up and then just carry on talking,we asked if they were doing food(they advertise allday menu) to be told no.No sorry or reason given,we had traveled from over the other side of town on a wasted journey will never be caught again.

16 Aug 2006 11:52

The Anchor and Horseshoes, Burpham

Locals are in deep crap now that this is the only pub in the area,im sure people could have more fun playing on a mined beach than being in here.Sevice very poor but i don`t think its the staffs fault they do their best but with no help from the managers.Iwill score it one for being there.

13 Aug 2006 10:12

The Green Man (Harvester), Burpham

Now closed down.(2 wks ago) Other pubs will close too if the Pub Co`s are not pulled up & cut the price`s they charge their tennants. This pub when it was "A PUB" was a great place, Brian the then landlord was old school but knew how to run the place,it is such a shame to see a Guildford landmark go.

13 Aug 2006 10:07

Bar Med, Guildford

Got to ask were the last two reviews by the manager of this place being that they are only 3 min`s apart and give a totally false image of this dump.Agree with the review on the 17thFeb.

10 Aug 2006 12:22

The White Horse, Shere

This could be one of the best pubs in the south of England (no joke) but it isn`t.Punch Pub Co have got it wrong again, put someone in here who cares not any Tom,Dick Harry(or Sally, people who have been in here will know what i mean)This place`s location is fantastic, but the food & sevice lets it down compleatly. Not forgetting the awful beer.

9 Aug 2006 13:34

The Robin Hood, Guildford

Lovely pub small i agree but you have here what i would expect a real pud to be like.Good beer & good old pub grub.Well done guys.

9 Aug 2006 12:59

The Royal Oak, Guildford

One of only 2 good pubs in Guildford, needs to get back on its toes though,i here it might be changing hands will watch with interest.

9 Aug 2006 12:54

The Boatman, Guildford

What a waste of a good pub,get a real landlord in to run it as a pub not just a retail outlet, totally agree with the last 3 reviews. But being a Punch outlet don`t expect this to change it will only get worse.

9 Aug 2006 12:48

The Keystone, Guildford

This is a typical 60`s built pub.To someone of my age it is still known as The Cannon,it`s an ok pub nothing special, but saying that there isn`t any really good pubs in Guildford now except for 2 (The Royal Oak & The Robin Hood & they don`t have to keep changing their names)

9 Aug 2006 12:33

The Boatman, Guildford

This pub has the best location in Guildford and don`t they know it(price wise well over the top ).Spirit group owned (now PUNCH) DON`T EXPECT PRICES TO GO DOWN ONLY UP WITH THIS LOT.

20 Jun 2006 19:42

The Queen Victoria, Shalford

This is a good drinkers pub, reasonably priced food too

20 Jun 2006 19:39

The Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common

Aww "anonymous" my friend didn`t mean to upset anyone only said on this visit the food & sevice was not up to the standard of our other visits to this pub.We are not knocking this place out of hand. But only saying what we felt.

20 Jun 2006 19:29

The Donkey, Tilford

1 Jun 2006 18:48

The Volunteer, Sutton Abinger

Not been here for a while the best i can say about this place is it looks good from the outside. On entering the interior looks very dated i did wrong i ordered a pint of lager great choice as they only have one sort, yes i know this is a Hall & Woodhouse pub but one lager & not a well known one at that come on.Sorry can not recommend this place (would to some one i didn`t like)

1 Jun 2006 18:22

The Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common
