We only popped in for a quick drink last Saturday evening but the new (South African?) licensee persuaded us to eat there too (fish and chips). I tried a pint of Triple FFF Alton's Pride which was good while we watched the swans on Old Alresford Pond from our table. Another busy reasonably smart pub in Alresford, the locals clearly like to go out. paul_d102 - 9 Jun 2026 17:42
Popped in here after a walk round the watercress meadows of Alresford. Three real ales on tap. Otter, Goodens Gold and Good Old Boy (can't remember the brewer). Had the Good Old Boy and Otter, and sat in the sun trap of a garden out the back by the small lake. The food people were eating looked good, but the prices were a little on the high side for me. Altogether a pleasant experience. Would come again. hampshirehog - 10 Jul 2014 15:45
New management ( from late June 2013 ) has recruited great staff and improved service as a result. The food has a simpler menu with daily specials in addition and I can recommend the massive fish and chips! The new owner believes in putting in the effort to ensure success and has created a pleasant happy atmosphere for customers and staff. Alresfordian - 18 Jul 2013 14:29
Efficient and friendly service, good beer with well prepared and affordable food in a great atmosphere with a garden overlooking the lake and associated wildfowl - can't be too many places with all these facilities! Feed - 18 Oct 2012 20:02
First visit to the Globe for several years. Huge improvement, and more upmarket now. Service: Very helpful and friendly. Lots of attention to detail - even get proper napkins with the food ! Beer: Just had the Doombar - excellent Food: very good; beautifully presented. Roast lamb followed by Bread & butter Pudding. Top quality and delicious. Varied menu. Ambience: Lovely. Sunday newspapers provided Would defintitely reccommend for both Beer and Food, and the staff make a real effort. COVENTRYBRIAN - 23 Jan 2012 16:10
