Currently being renovated. Outside brickwork painted white with grey around doors. Totally rebuilding the inside. New name will be "The Station". Forth name for this pub. Was The Byfleet hotel up until late eighties, then The Claremont (nickname the chavmount) until about 2010 when changed to The Catherine of Aragon. I suspect this is going to be an expensive gastro pub which will then die within 5 years and then become flats. A wetherspoons model is what is needed for this pub. Where computers can pop in and have a quick pint and snack after getting off the train. Sadly, I suspect it will just be an ego trip for someone who wants to cook fancy expensive food. before becoming unviable in a few years time. So lets see...

I could have written Beer Monster's post, strangely enough that's what we did -
1st corkers and then this pub. Could be a lovely pub, could be..no effort made at all. Typical of these types of pubs, almost as if the owners(?), simply can't be bothered, if the pub is empty..fine.
Why not make the effort here with this pub, improve the ambience! It's like a waiting room. A bit like M&S catering for all and yet pleasing few.
We are a country in recession yet we have pubs, shops etc that simply can't be bothered to make an effort, it's astonishing.
I will not be returing to Corkers or this pub, live locally but would rather stay at home!

Visited last night after disappointment at Corkers! Huge interior of fairly recently done out station pub. It looks and feels a bit stark and souless. Having said that, service was friendly and London Pride and Doom Bar were both in pretty good nick. Sky TV to watch football on a massive screen available. Food ok but nothing special.

Came in on Saturday afternoon while i had 15 mins for a train back to London.
Large pub with 3 real ales on tap, i had a pint of Doom Bar which was excellent, priced at 3.30 which i did think was a little steep, it's only 3.10 in my local in London.

Fairly empty when i visited, sky sports on the tele and maybe 7 people in total.
No compliants about this place, but i'll probably never visit again unless i really have a need to be in West Byfleet.
