A Beefeater / Premier Inn and does what it says on the tin perfectly well. Beer was more than acceptable. I had the St Austell Trelawny - very enjoyable, and they had two other cask beers on as well. Burgers were fine too.

It's part of a chain so don't expect quirky individuality or surprises, but it does what it is supposed to do. Nice garden too overlooking a lake.

Apparently the change to a Beefeater has now taken place. It's a shame to see it's back to a big chain, but if it means an end to the shoddy service, low-quality food and ridiculous seating policies then it's a step forward. At least the garden will finally be able to see some use again...

Since my last review, I see that this pub has received loads of bad reviews. I wanted or know if our visit was a one time deal or what. I was happy to see some of the same staff as before, the older waitress and the american girl. They were actually the only two staff I saw there. I can see how slow it was as i was one of only three tables there on a weekday lunch. I think the menu has really expanded, including potato shells, wings, sandwiches, but also having a full dining menu available throughout the whole pub. I still can't see what everyone is moaning about. I think both the staff was very friendly, and the food was good. I can say that dining menu was quite expensive.

Well I was told they were turning into a Beefeater in Nov. So back to fast, cheap, average food. I think it's a shame, but I can see them getting really busy.

We called in here on the off chance as we where passing and feeling a bit peckish, decor average much the same as many referb`s we found it not very warm and inviting, must say garden is a lovely setting as already said.We all found the menu typical of a chain restaurant nothing to write home about also on the expensive side.Larger was resonable beer average soft drinks poor range, service slow in fact poor. Not being able to eat out on the lawn is plain daft but health and safty and all that rubbish.
I think Guildforddrinker is possibly spot on about some of the comments comming from the staff as it seams this is the only place they write about..mmmmm
