Rogues Wine Bar, Guildford

Aleman - quick note on the 'ageist' comment. The reason for the over 25's rule is to give the slightly older Guildford clentel somewhere to go with out the hassle of being surrounded by kids and the younger generation. There is plenty in town for the young folks; Bridge Street for one(make that several), so one pub out of several being 'Over 25s' is really not a crime. If it bothers you that much then go to Bridge Street - you'll feel right at home an you might even get a fight.

Can I be blatantly bias? This pub rocks - you know it, I know it, and your friends know it. Get down here now and enjoy Guildford's best beer garden and best beer. Live music nights, ranging from jazz, rock to contemporary pop. Hugely entertaing quiz night (returning in the Autumn!)and much more on the cards for the second half of '08. No food granted; but you can always order a pizza (as long as the barstaff get a slice.....)!! So what are you waiting for?!?!

The White House, Guildford

Well went here today for a birthday lunch; and my genral impression was the staf adhere to the old adage 'You don't have to be slow to work here, but it helps!!' Service was absolutely awful; with no apology from staff or management. Had to point out on two occasions that I had been waiting for ten minutes to get served, whilst the satff faffed around serving other customers that had only just arrived at the bar. Food was awful; ten quid for some under cooked prawns with soggy tomatoes and dry rice. The chef must be an amatuer or just doesn't care, after having waited forty minutes for the food I thought it would have at least been tasty; no such luck. The people behind this bar need to take a good look at it and either give up and give someone else a go or sack the current staff, take the bull by the horns and make make some (earned) money and satisfy some customers. In future I'll be taking my and my friends custom to the far superior Britania.

Soon I'll be leaving this place after 4 and a half years of management- i'm off to Australia for some much needed 'me' time! Have enjoyed myself so much in my time here, and i hope the place continues to be popular in my absence. Big thanks to all the customers who have helped make this place what it is . You know who you are!

The Guildford Tup, Guildford

Used to have some legendary lock-ins down here - back in the day!

The Guildford Arms, Guildford

Runoured to be opening in a few weeks time with a view to becoming something of a 'gastropub' style place. Will be interesting to see what happens.

To back up my earlier comment on this pub; i have yet another criticism. Went in recently to savour a saturday afternoon beverage, when i ordered a latte the barman had no clue what i was talking about, He proceeded to ask what i assume was the bar manager to make it for him. When she fianlly decided to get up and make it, i patiently stood at the bar as she went through the motions only to hear her say "Is it for somebody important?!" This pretty much brought home to me that this place is not worth sticking around in; i duly walked out and will not be returning again.

The Five and Lime, Guildford

In here recently for a few pre-night out drinks, very impressed apart from the arrogant barstaff, nice atmosphere but music toooooo loud!! Came for a conversation not a shouting match!! Great deals midweek, bargain prices.

The Star Inn, Guildford

Last time i was in there was threatened with violence if i didn't leave my seat for some drug dealers's fat wife. Who then procceeded to offer me some 'skunk'.When i made the barman aware of the incident, he simply shrugged and laughed. Er, poor..............

The Keystone, Guildford

Really like this bar, as below; top food, nice beer and fast service - maybe cos there's noone in there, but i guess still one of Guildford's undiscovered gems!! Reccomended

The White House, Guildford

Rediculous place. Was told to remove my hat upon entry(don't get me wrong, i respect house policy), but reason for request for removal? ''In case i start a fight''- well i wasn't going too......?!?!?!?

The Britannia, Guildford

Due to recent makeover place has benifited so muich; finally shaken off the 'moshpit' atmosphere that the had held since the mid nineties. Great beer, friendly service(including table), and top food. Will definitely come back.

The Keep, Guildford

Popped in here recently, surprising quiet for a thursday, but all the essentials; cold beer, quick service, clean surroundings. Cool music too! Suspect the 'over 21s' policy is to weed out the skint students who seem to treat the place like a youth club with beer! Top bar.

The Three Pigeons, Guildford

Bizzare place where the bar staff seem to favour the coffin dodging locals over the man in the street, so much so that when i was half way through my order, the barman was interupted by a craggy local, whom he then proceded to serve leaving me standing!!! Not impressed.

Auberge, Guildford

Nice place, could do with a few more barstaff to deal with early evening rush, but all in all a reliable place to go and chill with some great food and an ice cold beer. Reccomended.

Bar 36, Guildford

The Kings Head, Guildford

Really enjoy this pub, probably one of the last 'real' pubs in central Guildford. Lovely terraced garden , great in the summer, and as far as i'm aware is being revamped for this years sunny days....! Always worth a visit, one of my favourites.

Rogues Wine Bar, Guildford

Have to agree with the comment below, pub was absolutely crammed on New Years eve, but, er, isn't that a good thing?! Atmosphere rocked with no reports of any 'boredom' on the evening, bargain prices too. Guess you could have gone to Auberge for 30 and bagged yourself ONE free drink.......

All Bar One, Guildford

Have to agree with the (bad) comments below, worst bar in Guildford bar none, crap barstaff, rank food and delussional DJ's who think they 'rock'. Avoid!!!
