The Plough, Leatherhead

The thai food is excellent, top quality. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and very clean. Don't understand what people don't like about it...

Yates's, Woking

Awful, awful, awful. Frozen food, raw food, rude staff, chemical beer. AVOID!

The Bear, Oxshott

Nice place - good for food although it felt like they were trying a little too hard. Biggest steak in the world!

The Gate, Chorleywood

Lovely food in a nice setting, although the place does get extremely busy!

Sands, Woking

Excellent restaurant food - reserve a table though and ask for it in the enclosed area on the right though the main entrance. Drinks are OK, not sure about the beer, I've only had one pint of Amstel but it was fine. We go there to eat - there is an excellent choice of wines and the food, although limited, is of top quality. Less choice means your dish is better prepared. Not the cheapest place but well worth the money - well done!

The Stag on the River, Eashing

Absolutely stunning! The setting accentuates the excellent service and range of drinks. Plenty of parking, lovely terracing along the river and a warm & cosy feeling inside without being too smokey.

Definately one to visit - only 5 minutes from the A3 at Eashing, pull off for food - you won't be disappointed!

Worplesdon Place Hotel, Worplesdon

Chain pub yes, but a really nice one. Lot's of room and a good range of drinks, both bottled and draught. Atmosphere is very chilled and in summer the large grounds mean that you can always find some space at a table somewhere. Bar food is good quality at a reasonable price but there is a restaurant too serving high quality food at a higher price.

Big favourite.

All Bar One, Guildford

Food is nice and the range of drinks is good but the price is high. having said that - the food is definately worth it. Split over three levels but don't sit at the back by the kitchen, there's a funny smell there. Sit near the front.

Excellent for Sunday lunch...

Bridge Barn, Woking

Lovely place, as with all 'outsidey' pubs, better in Summer. Think the restaurant is still upstairs, food there is top quality but you pay for it. Bar food is excellent though - never had a bad meal here, perhaps chris has had a bad experience? Would recommend to families. Would also recommend to those who want a quiet evening in the pub without the troublesome element.

The Herbert Wells, Woking

Single floor with a limited terrace (plastic glasses and a view of Chertsey road. Nice). Very large and airy inside and supposedly themed around H.G. Wells who lived in Woking and wrote War of the Worlds there, something the town is particularly proud of.

Good selection of drinks and the standard extensive and cheap Wetherspoons menu, consequently great for food and drink, as is every Wetherspoons. However, bs3jdb is right, as night falls get on a train to Guildford. Spend the evening in a much more friendly atmosphere among nubile young students with an intellect greater than all those in Sheerwater combined.

Don't get me wrong, I love Woking, I've lived here all my life, but the pikey percentage is rising exponentially now and any night out is always spoiled by some oik with too much attitude and a penchant for Lynx Java.

O'Neills, Woking

Nice atmosphere, plenty of TV screens and good food reasonably priced.

The Keystone, Guildford

Can't believe that it's taken me the best part of 8 years to find this place! (Granted - it hasn't been the Keystone for that long). A little gem, the location seems to keep numbers down, it's straddled between a little side road and the Godalming road out of town. Really friendly, food is excellent and they serve San Miguel. Couldn't see a non-smoking area bit that doesn't mean there isn't one...

The George Abbot, Guildford

ps. The quiz starts at 9pm on a Wednesday almost every week and costs 1 per person - get there about 8.30 to get a seat.

The George Abbot, Guildford

Lots of room, plenty of corners to get lost in. Food is indeed always late and the quality varies but it is always value for money. Eat early, the last serving time tends to change between 8 and 9 depending on how busy it is.

The quiz is excellent, prizes are good (the entry fee from the contestants for first and a bucket load of chocolate for second) but there are only 4 rounds and it takes two hours. Can seem to take a long time but as 6 times previous winners we can't complain! Viva Team Bob!

The White House, Guildford

Before the refurb it was looking abit tired but they've worked wonders with it now. Still a tad pricey but the food is excellent and the vibe has been re-injected. A nice place.

Casino, Guildford

If you like to pay over the odds for poor quality drinks, if you like to pay 3 for lemonade, if you like your music so loud it's distorted and if you like ridiculously small dancefloors then this place is for you!

Must earn the most money per unit area of any licensed premises in the UK...

The Five and Lime, Guildford

Seems pretty cool but it is always too busy on an evening. Enjoy, but don't plan on sitting down!

Flares, Guildford

Food is nice here, only been once in the evening and it seems like a fairly funky place. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side but if you don't like vodka or bottled stuff then there isn't much choice...

Bar Med, Guildford

*Euch*, Bar is the operative word here! Reasonable stop during a long night but don't entrench yourself here and certainly don't order the food. EVER!

Yates's, Guildford

Hmm... seems more and more like a bar than a pub! Good late night atmosphere though...

Rodboro Buildings, Guildford

Much more chilled now than when it was Wetherspoons. Food is now cheaper if you "buy one get one free" of which there is a decent selection. Unfortunately, the third person, or the person who wants burger, has to pay the full whack. Drinks are still reasonable though. TV screens are nice but there was something good about the old way with no music. Yet to visit on a Friday/Saturday night but I guess it's still heaving. Agree with Russ, I think it was better as Wetherspoons.

The Astolat, Guildford

Always seems a bit dark and dingy and smokey to me, not the best pub in Guildford IMO.
