The Chancery Bar & Kitchen, Fulham

Good stuff to hear its reopening I used to love this place (even with the biggest mouse infestaion I have ever seen)!

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

Yeah its getting a lot better. Can get very busy on Saturday afternoons for the football and if the rugby is on get in early!

If a Premiership game is being shown somewhere in the world it will be on in here!

Abacus, Bank

Went in there last night for a leaving do and the place is totally rubbish. No beer on tap on a Friday night apart from Guinness. The first time I went to the bar I ordered amongst other drinks a large house wine. My friend stated later that he thought the glass was to small for a large so I went to the bar to be told that they didnt actually have any large glasses even though they offer them on the menu and also charged me for one! This place is overpriced enough without me getting skanked at the bar. I will never darken its doors again.

The Seven Stars, West Kensington

Its people with attitudes like yours that make me avoid these kind of places anyway. Dont worry I will never set foot in there.

O'Neills, Earls Court

I used to live next door to this pub a few years ago. I spent many a happy evening in there it is certainly the nicest one I have been in.

The Horniman at Hays, Southwark

Having worked in Hays galleria in one of the offices for 3 years I used to have to use this at lunch just because of its location. The only pub I could get to without getting wet if it was raining! It is poor and as stated before the service is the main problem. Its not cheap either! best left for the tourists who no doubt think it is a traditonal english pub.

The Alehouse, Reading

Went in there yesterday on the recommendations from here and I was suitably impressed. An island of real beer and a good pub in a sea of bland chain pubs in Reading.

The King William IV, Hailey

This pub is in the middle of nowhere but well worht the find. Get up there on a nice summers evening I cannot think of a better place to be. Beer well kept as well.

TC's, Tignes

Good little bar. I dare anyone to drink more than 5 pints of Mutzig!

24 Jun 2006 14:48

The Crosse Keys, Bank

I was in here last night watching the France game. It is massive to say the least I think its an old trading floor. Service was fine, beer was fine (and cheap for the city). Not really somewhere I would go out of my way to but if I am in the area and fancy a cheap pint it will be my destination.

Fiesta Havana, Fulham

Was voted best place to pull in London last year by the Evening Standard.

God knows where they got that idea from its a sweaty hell hole of a place!

Goose, Fulham

It is a rubbish pub but where else round here can you get a pint of IPA for 150 and a very drinkable bottle of Chardonnay for 4.89?

You can even get a 24oz steak and chips for a tenner!

Project Orange, Battersea

Top drawer. I always go in there even if its for one when I am in the area!

The Anchor and Hope, Waterloo

I agree totally with the below. I only go there for the food and have for the last 3 times ordered said rib of beef. Comes with a massive plate of twice cooked chips and a half pint glass of bearnase. As it shoud be!

The food is fantastic and I could waffle on about the potato soup with foie gras I had there once followed by a whole roasted trout with trimmings!

No glasses of wine though it comes in half bottle caraffes (which I dont mind as you tend to lose track of how much you have drunk)!

Would not really go there for a beer though.

Red Lion, Gatwick Airport

Airport 6am waiting for a flight greatness! Wouldnt step foot in there if it was in the street though :P

The Bollo, Chiswick

7 out of 10 for food.

The Bollo, Chiswick

This pub is certainly improving. Not my kind of place to go and drink but I have eaten there 3 times and have loved everything I have been served. Time Out eating & drinking guide 2006 rates this place and had a 15% discount card for a few places this included and I plan to use it!

Spice Island, Rotherhithe

I agree having lived down there. If its the view you are after buy a decent bottle if wine and sit down there anyway as the river path is public!

The Pitcher and Piano, Fulham

:) I do actually go to this pub sometimes so I will post a 'proper' comment.

Very strange pub that is pretty much emtpy all week until Sundays when it becomes a meat market for all antipodeans. Its not such a bad thing as anyone can get lucky (at the time after 10 pints of snakey B) but the comments about getting to the bar/toilet/anywhere are true.

The Old Brick's Inn, Jyvskyl

Yep, I go to Jyvaskyla every year for the Rally (I live in London but my mother is Finnish)

You can find some rare english beers in here even though it is in middle Finland!

I love it!

20 Jun 2006 16:19

The Bell Inn, Aldworth

I used to live in the area and am now stuck in the middle of London. I cannot imagine a better pub in the world to while away an afternoon. Absolutely the best pub (that I have been to) ever.

The Seven Stars, West Kensington

Listen I am a working class guy myself. My definition of a chav is what I have found in here. This is a true story -

I went in there about a year ago in a suit to be told to f### off we dont serve people in suits.

Just because I am in a suit does not mean I am not working class ffs.

My previous visit was met with loud aggressive people who all looked like they were itching for a fight including the young landlord who I believe shares the same name as me. Read the reviews below. If you are not local you are not welcome in there.

I admit my comment is harsh and I apologise. I have just had 2 very bad visits there and the second time was worried for my wellbeing just because I was in a suit.

The Cumberland Arms, West Kensington

This is one of the best pubs in the area. Well kept ales and a decent wine list. Menu changes daily and is a good step above normal pub food. I like it.

Whoever said the tv was on was in another pub there isnt one in here.

20 Jun 2006 14:23

The Live and Let Live, West Kensington

I have to agree with most reviews. This is a horrible place and to be so close to The Cumberland next door I dont know why anyone would want to go in there.

Go to the Cumberland instead it is great!

20 Jun 2006 14:17

The Warwick Arms, Kensington

Been there only once on a recommendation of well kept ales. Quite a little gem if I may say so. The ESB was lovely and the staff helpful (and very attractive)! It seems like quite a locals pub and was quite empty which was a shame. I will certainly be going back soon.

20 Jun 2006 14:14

Kensington Arms, Kensington

Oh and the bar staff were also very attentive and friendly!

20 Jun 2006 14:11

Kensington Arms, Kensington

I have very recently discovered this pub and am quite impressed. Not a place to go if you want a traditional boozer as it is quite bright and airy inside. Looks like it is certainly geared up for food which I have not tried yet. Pretty good beers on tap I had a very nice pint of Becks 'Vier' there. Will certainly go back to watch sports and as the food has been well received below will certainly try the menu.

20 Jun 2006 14:10

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington

This is my local as a long standing Barons Court residence I only live over the road. About 6 years ago this was a really good boozer and I could easily while away a whole day in there with friends. A succession of poor managers and decisions have left this pub a pale shadow of its former self. It regularly runs out of beer and it even ran out of wine a few weeks ago. Twice this year the pdq machine has been broken and therefore cash only. One time it was on the same night that they had run out of beer! I wondered why they bothered keeping it open. The bar staff are inattentive and totally inept. Simple barmanship is looking who arrives at a bar next NOT JUST GOING UP AND DOWN THE LINE! There also appears to be a large amount of bar staff on the books when quite often only one is serving whilst 2 are chattting at the side of the bar. They all appear to live upstairs as well! Poor management and dont even get me started on the food. This pub has a great catchment area in barons Court and with a bit of simple thought could turn back into a great pub. It is really that bad I would rather drink in the 3 chavs down the road and that is saying something!

20 Jun 2006 13:59

The Seven Stars, West Kensington

The locals are the problem though. The pub is the local of the massive chav estate right behind it and nobody else is allowed in unless they are known.
