The Hotel Continental, Whitstable
The beer formula and cellarmanship reportedly used in 2010 seem to have been abandoned, in favour of things apparently less reliable, alas.
The front elevation is now painted white-and-grey too.

Ah, Randolf, my dear old multi-login punchbag, at least I've been to the pub.
You?
It still looks as rough as it did when paul commented too, but you wouldn't know, would you?

For what, exactly, were you hoping, paul154?
Tyson versus Ali?

Pearsons Arms, Crab And Oyster House, Whitstable
The locals this time seemed to include a pair of lard-arses, discussing the good old days, when they used to push-and-shove for the Millwall FC-following shambles.
Get back to the Wall.

The Famous Corner Pin, Long Eaton
The postcode and hence the map and nearby pubs are wrong for this pub. It should be NG9, not NG6.

If you want a proper pre-curry pint, then this is the place, but you knew that, didn't you?
17 May 2017 16:37
The Steamboat used to run a folk club too, don't know if it still does.

The Duke Of Cumberland Hotel, Whitstable
I'll be back in Whitstable soon, so a more detailed review is to follow.
17 May 2017 16:34
I should add, that the Bridge nearby is pretty good too, so good for a tour.
17 May 2017 16:33
It's world's better than the one over the road, that's for sure.
17 May 2017 16:31
I've not been in this pub since about 1980, and every time that I walk past and look inside I am reminded why.
17 May 2017 12:30
Yes, a fine, much-improved pub. Better-than-usual food, and a good, well-kept ale selection. Well appointed interior.
17 May 2017 12:28
Young crowd, Brains generally well-kept, quite smart. Spacious. Solid enough.
17 May 2017 12:24
Just a tad rowdy, harsh lighting, and not my vibe. I might be yours though.
17 May 2017 12:14
One of the better city centre pubs. Changeless, atmospheric and reliable.
17 May 2017 12:09
You won't find a better pint of Brain's, so that's OK, so long as you're not fed up of Brain's.
Carpet seemed a bit smelly, but generally well-maintained.
17 May 2017 12:05
Excellent place. Traditional tiled interior, good pints of Holts and well-run.
16 May 2017 17:27
The only pub which shows up at the map location is the Barge, long ago called the Lord Nelson.

The Famous Corner Pin, Long Eaton
Always used to be of the few local pubs to be found open at 2200 on New Year's Day, even when it was snowing and ten below zero. Let's hope that it's still the same on that point.
16 May 2017 12:12
It's a "purpose-built" pub in a residential area, but not a down-at-heel one, and the pub reflects this.
16 May 2017 12:06
Let's hope that competition with the nearby Steamboat improves matters at this isolated spot.
16 May 2017 11:44
If you do come off the M1 at j24 to go to this pub for lunch, then you're better rejoining at j25 by far.
16 May 2017 11:42
Cosy, friendly locals pub, but catch visitors from the quite busy road are just as welcome. Decent enough pint of Marston's.
16 May 2017 11:40
The place to which drinkers escape is the White Lion, or "Top House" as it is known.

Pearsons Arms, Crab And Oyster House, Whitstable
When I went there were a few locals who were discussing "Just A Minute", and some tourists mocking them.
I suppose that's OK then, Cpt. Ralph?

The Duke Of Cumberland Hotel, Whitstable
This enjoys a very prominent position in the town. Far too prominent for my liking. I gave it a miss.
15 May 2017 17:55
How long are those pork pies to be kept there at room temperature, then? If you're happy to eat them after a fortnight, well, good luck with that.
15 May 2017 16:10
Can't find any connection with "You Jane, me Tarzan" and all that, but there's a nice pint to be had here.
15 May 2017 15:57
Great vibe, good beer and curries. Mind you don't get lost in it.
15 May 2017 15:55
What's to dislike? History, beers, atmosphere. It's got the lot.
15 May 2017 15:54
This was one of the first pubs that I ever visited.
It's been turned around rather since the last review, fortunately.
15 May 2017 15:46
This is perhaps the most Welsh-speaking pub in the immediate area, and again is Brains-free.
Give it a go, it's friendly to all.
15 May 2017 15:44
Evan Evan's is rather like Sam Smith's, Shepherd Neame and so on to me, but this is a pleasant pub with good food and a decent garden.
It's another pub in the locality popular with Welsh-speakers.
15 May 2017 15:41
A range of real ales, quite jolly, frequented by plenty of Welsh-speakers.

Thanks slerpy. It's not just me then.
And what ever does he mean by the "texture" of a pie? Is he fumbling about for the word "consistency" perhaps? I've never come across a hessian-covered, or a woodchip wallpaper-wrapped pork pie, but there's always a first time I suppose.
