The Queens Head, East Clandon

Closed on Sunday night - bid odd but it is out in the sticks so fair enough I guess.

The Bulls Head, West Clandon

Seemed like a nice friendly locals places - only went there cos the Queen's Head was closed for the evening - but no regrets nice country place full of life.

The Delme Arms, Fareham

This place was once my local, but a few landlords later and it has crashed. Thermo-nuclear bright lighting and a dusky pink ceiling. The Landlord is a nice chap, but I think eats wasps for breakfast as he always looks p*ssed off. Beer has improved and is now quite paletable, but way too expensive. Saturday a few weeks back myself and 3 friends had the lounge bar to ourselves - this is not a good sign.

Ye Olde Ship Inn, Guildford

I have been here many times for an eveing of relatively drunken behaviour with a big group of friends and always had a great time - food equally good. Went there around a month ago at Sunday lunchtime for a change - just as good, menu does not appear to change for Sunday which i a change but not a show-stopper.

Caters well for all, a few locals, rambers and those few shoppers with legs enough to reach it. Only down side is if you don't sit next to the pizza oven then it can be a bit cold.

The Fareham, Fareham

Once got served a really off pint here and the landlord refused to give me an exchange all the "locals" were drinking the same point and said it was fine - clearly they will drink anything in Fareham, just to keep in with the Landlord.

Still that was a long time ago and it seems like a good place now, quite lively and a few big tables with great cheese and garlic bread.

Lord Arthur Lee, Fareham

Weatherspoons rubbish

The Delme Arms, Fareham

Good fire in the lounge bar, but changed hands a few times in the last 5 years and gone down hill each time. Not the Xmas eve haunt now cos it is just too pink inside, it is like taking part in some wierd birthing ceromony. Also not as cheap as it should be given it is a crud location.

high mark though cos I used to got there a lot and it has served me well in a few times of need.

The Falcon, Clapham Junction

Good beer, vague east european bar staff, BIG screen.
Pint here, meet your friends and go somewhere else nicer. So it always gets on the plan for an evening out in CJ, but you try not to stay long.

The Jolly Farmer, Worplesdon

Only been here once when my train got stuck at Worplesdon. Nice sunny day sit in the garden, nowhere near any traffic with a golden pint of Cheswick, could not get better ! It is surrounded by heath land so good for ramblers.

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

Really good place, slightly different range of beers, inc 1664 Blonde which is smooth. Well worth getting a crowd of your mates together for and drinking, or hit the Tapas which to be honest HAS to be the way forward in food.

All Bar One, Guildford

Ok place if you like badly served, expensive Stella being spilt all over you by the massive throng of sheep.

Still one of the few places in G'ford that opens late at the weekend and does empt out a little when the clubs start to fill up around 11.

The Boatman, Guildford

toooooo expensive. OK (I guess) during the summer because of the really good deck over looking the river. But basically just a pub in the winter, and a pub that charges waaaaaay tooooo much for its ordinary beer.

Ye Olde Ship Inn, Guildford

Not been since the new chef turned up (see comment below - not from me !). Certainly until there it was ACE. Pizza oven working overtime turning out fantastic range of pizza and home made coslaw which is realy good. Top range of beers and actualy for once in a pub some good wine.

The Keystone, Guildford

Didn't this used to be called The Cannon and was a total dive full of under-age drinking.

I am sure it is totally different now

The Frog and Frigate, Southampton

I was there with Pauly all those years ago and a blinding time was had by all. Back then couldn't knock it jammed full of Newcastle Brown drinking college kids all trying to sing louder than Derek. On reflection location may have been a bit of an issue, but who cares when you are having THAT much fun.

The Kings Head, Guildford

Good range of beers, and a big bar. Not enough seating inside so best in the summer. Good Sunday grub as I remember, but a bit studenty/college on a week night. I am sure the lasttime I was there the most asked question was "What did you get in your A Levels" Huh Bothered !

The Cricketers, Guildford

Not bad at all - good range of beers, ok garden and good food. Sunday afternoons good go very nicely here

The Astolat, Guildford

Used to live really near this so went there a lot. Now I don't and I am releaved to see no other pubs appear to be this bad !

30 Sep 2005 13:26

The Lyceum, Strand

Bin here only once, but it was right after work so the expecation was it would be jammed (as the Wellington next door was). In fact there were about 7 people there. Typical Sam Smiths so great beer, very cheap and this time no annoying crowds. Can't beat it for a London pub !

Shhhh don't tell anyone !

30 Sep 2005 13:24

The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

Too busy full of city types. Having said that they like to get their credit cards out and put them behind the bar (some ego thing I guess). The bar staff often take this to mean they are willing to buy beer for anyone that wants one. given how cheap it is their credit card bills won't be that bad.

Cheers City Types - spread the joy !

The Princess Louise, Holborn

Cheap beer - a very pleasent dive.

30 Sep 2005 13:18

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

Top place, cheap beers just WAY to busy after work.
