Pub is finally under new management.

Went tonight - the first time in ages - nice atmosphere - little bit quiet but I hope it'll get better - or maybe turn the music up a little. Food menu was not the most imaginative - pub classics only - but went for the safety of a burger which was actually surprisingly good with awesome chips!

Good range of ales.

Will definately be going back now.

Would be interesting to see what you base your comment on becs83 as you`ve not made comments on any other pub.
Do we put out a Roland alert ?????

I don't normally post reviews on this sort of site, but I visited the Cricketers over the bank holiday weekend and had such a lovely time that I was really shocked to see so many negative reviews on the site. It was a great place to go for a proper pub lunch in the sunshine, and I'll definitely be making a return visit. The staff were all lovely too, so again, really surprised by other people's reviews.

We went down for the pub quiz for the first time on Thursday a couple of weeks ago and had a brilliant time. It starts at 9pm which was great, we had some food first (I'd recommend booking a table because it was rammed) and then we played the quiz. There was a good mix of multiple choices, brain teasers and a news round which everyone in our team could have a good go at. The small prize goes each week but there is also a jackpot which everyone can win (this rolls over each week until it is won so even though we are rubbish at quizzes there is a chance we can win, which is really nice because we always loose the quiz!). The bar staff were lovely and there was a good selection of wines by the glass. I was surprised reading some of these comments because I thought the landlord and landlady were great. We'll definitely be going back.

This is certainly not a pub that we would recommend. Having taken the trouble to visit the pub earlier in the day to book a specific table, we were disappointed and indeed incensed to find that our table was occupied by another couple upon our arrival. The table not only had a reserved sign on but also our name. It is inconceivable that the other couple and the pub staff were not aware of our reservation. We were made to feel the guilty party and our complaint to the manager was poorly handled. We have no intention of visiting the pub again as there are far nicer and more welcoming public houses in the vicinity of The Cricketers.
