The Wentworth Arms, Mile End

Popped in for a very quick drink on my way to Dagenham. What an amazing pub. Kind of place you read about or see in Eastend TV programs. Loved it. Really friendly and made everybody welcome. This is a real pub, run by real pub folk. If tourists wanted a proper example of a London pub look no further, but I guess tourists swarming all over it would ruin the atmosphere. Shame no real ale, and that's why it loses one point.

The Red Lion, Sittingbourne

Visited this pub on 25th November 2006. Although I thought the Bull over the road was pretty nice, I think the Red Lion is Sittingbourne's best boozer. It's a fine 15th Century public house, with excellent facilities, a good choice of drink, and very good service. I could have sat in this pub for most of the day, but with match to take in, and several other pubs to sample, alas, I couldn't. Well done the Red Lion, although the competition in Sittingbourne is pretty poor, you knock the socks off most other pubs in the town. Also a nice beer garden to the side, but beware, there is a food area at the back, which on this day, was packed with kids!

The Cricketers, River

I love The Cricketers. White Army!

Prince of Wales, Hampton Court

Average pub, not the best service, although the barmaid was quick enough to serve her mates. Thought about eating here, but then thought better of it. Saying that however, as a pub, the atmosphere wasn't bad, and the choice of drinks good - personally I'd walk over to the other side of the road and sup in the Albion.

The Albion, Hampton Court

I really liked the Albion. Went in on a Bank Holiday Monday, and although it was busy, the atmosphere was really good, footy was on the TV, a good selection of beer and excellent service was received. Sat near the back where it looks like an Indian take-away with tables, but that didn't alter the fact that this pub should receive excellent reviews.

Summoner, Sittingbourne

Rubbish service, dirty tables, rubbish food, about 16 complaints being dealt with - just another typical Weatherspoons pub. Why do I bother?

The Bull, Sittingbourne

Classy establishment, could of sat in here all day long. Comfy sofas, big TV screens showing sports, excellent service. Well done the Bull.

The Running Horse, Leatherhead

A nice, old-fashioned boozer, may it never change. Full of the older kind sat around the smallish bar. Good service, especially when we asked where the other boozers in Leatherhead were "well youve got the Pen.." "yep been there", "the Edmu..." "yep been there too", "well that leaves us and the Duke..." "you're joking aren't you? four pubs?, people in the Head must be going off there heads".

The Dukes Head, Leatherhead

Four pubs, surely not? Dukes Head was the busiest, and had a quality pool table area. Big TV screens, ok service, bit worried I was gonna be stabbed, but never mind. At least we had discovered people in Leatherhead! Not a bad atmosphere considering, but anything was better than what we had previously encountered in this shabby little town.

The Edmund Tylney, Leatherhead

Very quiet Spoons pub. What goes on in Leatherhead? Do people live in these parts? In the bar, there were two workers, a chavy family, and me and my mate. Very typical Spoons, go there, have a couple of drinks and leave asap.

Penny Black, Leatherhead

Agree, it's for the younger generation, which I still consider myself to be part of. Comfy seating, good service, nice decor. Kept the rain off my head, although it was very quiet inside, mind you, it was a Tuesday afternoon. After walking around Leatherhead and realising there were only four pubs, I went back a little bit later on, when the pub was a little busier, and the music sounded good.

The Old Manor Inn, Walton on Thames

Very small pub, approaching the River Thames. Despite a limited drink choice, the staff are friendly, the pub is clean, although fairly old style. Not much room to move, but a nice, slow paced local.

The Wellington, Walton on Thames

Surprisingly small pub, which looks a lot bigger from the outside. However, it's clean, choice of drinks is high, the pubs has a pool table and plasma TV, and the service is very friendly. There isn't really much more that can be said - probably the best pub in Walton high street area, but competition is poor. Get down to the river!

The Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames

A nice riverside pub, although I certainly didn't catch any 20lb carp from inside! After watching the Mighty Whites beat Walton Casuals 2-0, I took the short stroll along the river to the Weir. As the above pictures show, the location is, like The Angler, superb, and it would be easy to sit and lose yourself at one of the tables for a whole day. Inside, the decor is slightly dated, however the staff are friendly, and there is a fair range of drink to choose from. I sat down in the consevatory area, and despite the fact a dog (on a very long lead)kept annoying me, I suppose the pub can hardly be to blame. Would be fantastic in the summer.

The Swan, Walton on Thames

After visiting the Bear and Weatherspoons, The Swan was a welcome relief. Although the bar area is small, there is much more room around the back, possibly the food area only. However, despite the bar maid not being the friendliest in the world, and a lack of drink options, the pub is clean (especially the gents!!!), and the decor is spot on. Ouside, the beer garden is the pub's best point. Like the Angler and the Weir, you can sit back and watch the River Thames flow by, which is fantastic on a hot April day, and probably even better in the summer. Although the pub isn't directly on the river, the view is superb.

The Regent, Walton on Thames

Another typical Weatherspoons pub - try to avoid if possible. Head to the waterfront where the pubs are nice, and people are beautiful. If you have no money, however stay here! How long have Weatherspoon pubs had TVs in them, was the first question I ask? Step inside, you're greeted by the Weatherspoon's smell. No smiles from the bar staff, no surprise there, but my mate, as ever, was well chuffed with how much his round cost. Wade through the tramps and dossers to a seat, get comfy and watch the world go by.

The Bear Hotel, Walton on Thames

During a visit to Walton on a recent away day outing, I had the total misfortune to stumble across this so called pub. From the outside everything looks nice and normal. As soon as I stepped inside however, I was hit by a terrible, dirty musty smell. Not a good start. I ordered a drink from a limited selection, however, the barmaid managed to give me something else completly different. Nevermind. Off to sit down, through the freaky looking locals, to a table which had a nice slection of bottled mustard, salad cream and tommy k on it. Considering the sun was beating on down through the window, I didn't consider this poor food hygiene at all......! I placed my backside on a seat that had been ripped apart, possibly by a dog, possibly by a freaky local, not sure, and drank out of a dirty glass.....nice.

The one positve thing I can say, is that this pub will live in the memory and is now a legendary place between mates - everytime I think of Walton, I am going to think of The Bear, possibly the worst pub I have ever been into - well done!

The Anglers, Walton on Thames

I don't know what other people are talking about when they slate this pub. In my opinion, The Angler is by far the best pub in Walton. I just couldn't find a fault with the place, and the location just by the river is fantastic. The decor is second to known, and there is plenty of choice drinkwise. Service was standard, however, it was clean, and I would have been more than happy to eat the delicious looking food that was being prepared. If you like your pubs dirty, smelly and smokey, don't come here, if you're a normal person, this is the place for you. Prices are high, but I'm more than happy to pay out to drink in a clean, friendly, lively, and attractive setting.
