| LOL so this is where everyone hangs out in the area nowadays ! If I were 10yrs younger & still hanging around in Surrey i'd prob be socializing in this place. Imagine this place gets heaving on a warm summers evening (when we get em tht is !) bit like how Thames Court in Shep use to get "back in the day"... Within walking distance frm the Weir to walk off a lunchtime meal & thn go inside & hav a coffee 'n a natter (or visa versa - we dnt want to be giving The Weir all the credit- hav written enough reviews about thm!) darting the kids with their canoes going into the water along the way & bloody cyclists (who sometimes need to keep their speed down! as it's a narrow path in places). Handsome staff always a must! Nice Expresso's - soz can't comment on the grub as yet to try - but it is a popular place & if you manage to get one of the tables directly overlooking the River then your lucky! ENJOY PEEPS! | We re-discovered the Anglers in December last year, used to use it years ago but it went down hill so we stop going. Since December we have been back a number of times. The food is fantastic, top notch. The atmosphere is great, really good mix of people, they have a good selection of beers and normally 2-3 ales. Dont expect 'fast food' service on a sunny day, the place is generally packed...be prepared to wait a little, it will be worth it. They also have a really nice upstairs area looking out over the river which can be used for parties. With respect to the previous comment on football shirts I think their policy is 'no football shirts' no matter what country/team it is, along with no vests, and no topless drinkers. britishtakeaway - 15 Oct 2009 10:19 |
| My partner walked into the anglers and asked for a pint, the bar tender behind the bar refused to serve him because he was wearing his england shirt and said it was policy not to serve any one wearing an england shirt, but if he was wearing a spanish or portugese shirt then they would be able to serve him. I think this is wrong as this is england not spain or portugal and we should be able to wear our countries shirt with pride! bubba20090315 - 28 Jun 2009 23:36 |
| service for food not that fast but was nice. Can we revert back to serving food on plates rather than boards though, that is just silly. It's a nice pub though, great location, I would come back. TheGP - 22 Dec 2008 09:05 |
| Fantastic food, fantastic staff, fantastic service. The location is perfect and the atmosphere is delightful. I was served within minutes (by a very attractive waiter!) and really enjoyed my lunch at the anglers. Would highly recommend to other people. Great value for money too! monkey123 - 4 Sep 2008 16:59 |
