Visited early on a Saturday evening, when a live football game was showing on the screens. Busy crowd and friendly enough, extremely small toilets (very very cosy I must add), choice of beer was okay but my favourite Doom Bar had just finished and the barmaid immediately offered me something else. Had a very good pint of London Pride, poured perfectly and was very drinkable. Nice pub, good decor, price was reasonable, numbers were good...but here's 2 negatives...I asked for a Whiskey & coke for the wife, and was given a Jack Daniels without even being asked if this was the Whiskey I wanted, for the record there were at least another 3 whiskey's on display, the 2nd negative was that straight after the football ended & while the sound was still on, the bar staff put extremely load music on, like at nightclub level, quite strange. Maybe I'm just being a bit picky on the 2 negatives. I would certainly visit again when next in Leatherhead

Well here I was again, The Dukes Head, it’s been a while since my last posts so I thought I would have another go, so what's changed apart from not getting as much change as i used to, I seem to be spending less time in the pub as i used to but almost as much of my money, what's going on? do we have four tax rises a year now or something? maybe it’s just the Carlsberg that keeps going up a lot over the past few years, I'll have to cut down to one day a week drinking if the prices keep going up at this rate, I don't think they heard there was a recession going on, bloody bankers! sometimes I do think less is more, but to be fair there are still more expensive pubs in Leatherhead...well for the moment anyway and it is the THE BEST TASTING CARLSBERG IN LEATHERHEAD, even when I don't get a full pint for my £2.95, oh and don’t leave your drink unattended for more than a few seconds, even if its full and fresh it might end up in the glass wash, you don’t want to be paying £2.95 more times than you need to!

To me THE DUKES HEAD IS THE BEST PUB IN LEATHERHHEAD, it has the atmosphere that the wetherspoons desperadosly lacks (like the pun guys?) its still not quite as expensive as three of the other pubs in the town though it must be getting close now, the staff are mostly friendly, even the jobsworth with the long dark hair, even he's cool on a good day, especially when he's off duty, I quite like him then

The Pub has GOOD MUSIC AT THE WEEKENDS, this is good because I can never find anything I want to put on on the duke box even if I could afford to put money in it after i paid for my pints, the people who do the karaoke are really good, though I think they think its x-factor sometimes, and I sometimes wonder if they would sing all night themselves if they could get away with it, but they obviously like singing that's why they do it, and they are pretty good to be fair, almost as good as the famous T-bag and Medows (this is a must see at the weekend!)

the pub has had a slight refit in the last 12 months and is LOOKING PRETTY RESPECTABLE, they have plenty of large flatscreen tv's for the sports channels but I'm still waiting for my 3D TV to be installed, not that they would let me watch porn in the pub but I would be quite happy to stand in the corner with my over priced pint wearing 3D glasses....pubs should sell popcorn

so my cokes are getting smaller

oh sorry the good points..

great tasting cold beer with just the right amount of fizz

friendly staff*

good food... mmmmm food

great weekend music, though on karaoke you might have to sing yourself, sometimes I even sing**

all the sport you need with multi screen viewing (though a perminant tv outside would be good)

bbq's in the summer sunshine*
A sheltered outside smoking area with lights seating and heating
A new pool table in its own area separate from the rest of the bar
A dart board
Games machines
and board games…bored games? Do people still play those?

*friendly staff, fizz and sunshine are subject to availability, your drink maybe at risk if you spill it or leave it unattended or forget where you left it, my jokes and my singing may sound better when your drunk, pig skins taste great, peanuts may contain nuts, always read the label.
animals, idiots and amidults (half animal half adult) who cannot handle a drink, with verbally abusive diarrhoea maybe asked politely to leave.
The Dukes head is a Public House, we don't have a right to be in it, WE ARE ALL GUESTS in it.

I rate this pub 9/10

I went to this pub on 11/02/2011 and I have to say I had a great time!!
people that drink in this pub are so friendly and make your night the drinks are cheap and they had a DJ who was not too good at first but he soon understood what everybody wanted to listen too with there requests the bar staff could smile a bit more but who cares!! I had a fantastic time and cant wait to go back!! :D

Sometimes you walk into a pub look around and think "mmm.. this has charm" pity the miserable bar staff were lacking a bit of charm. To be fair it was lunch time and for a quiet pub if you want to sit on your own and read a paper not bad. One word of warning though stay away from the food unless you like eating hockey pucks on burnt bread rolls, it was suppose to be a burger, how can you get that wrong??? This place could be so much more it just needs someone with vision and at least a bit more cooking knowledge that being able to press a few buttons on a microwave. I give this pub experience 2 out of 10
