Buck Inn, Buckden

A lovely little pub. The staff really put the effort in with wonderful general chat, and helpful information (the gentlman serving the food even put a bow-tie on specially).

At the time of writig they are unable to offer anything other than bottled beerss, owing to problems with the cellar. Even so, they still manage to offer a range of good real ales.

Ample parking space available, and surrounded by breathtaking mountains.

Jude The Obscure, Oxford

A little bit over-crowded for my liking - it was difficult to find a seat and a bit too noisey, but good beer and a friendly feel pretty much compensate for it.

The Hobbit, Southampton

I will gladly argue that is one of the bast pubs ever concieved. A WIDE selection of real ales; an enormouse beer garden, in wich chips etc are served, permanent late opening etc etc. Simply fantastic!

The Bear and Staff, Selly Oak

The food's not bad either!

The Golden Cross, Harborne

It sells itself as somwhere to whatch the footy, not to enjoy a pint. It's generally a bit dark, with seating arranged to emphasise the view of the screens. It barely even selss real ales.

The Doghouse, St Peter Port

This pub serves multiple real ales, and with several pumps visible. It serves good quality food, indeed it's gettign on for a gastro pub. There are currently no pool or snooker tables, but there are apparently plans for extensions on the horizon. There is a fair number of outdoor tables and a certain amount of parking space available. The place is very mucha music venue with bands playing frequently. Consequently it also has good opening hours too (it was one of the only ones we could find open on a Sunday night).

The Pony Inn, St Sampsons

This pub has recently referbished, and now looks and feels like a resteraunt that happens to have a pub tagged onto it. Real ale is served, but the only pumps are in the resteraunt side. The prices are relativly cheap for Guernsey though. There is a wide screen TV and a pool table. There is ample parking here.

The Ship And Crown, St Peter Port

This pub serves real ale and has several pumps. It often shows sports events on several TVs, but none large screen. The size and location mean there is no parking fascility. Food of an unknown quality is served. Its size makes it a bit of a tight squeeze, especially if there's a popular football match on.

The Rockmount, Castel

This pub comes with another brilloiant feaature: a large window with a view overlooking the sea in a westerly direction. The sunset views are fantastic!

The Mermaid Tavern, Herm Island

Real ales are served, although there is only one pump on the bar. There is a pool table and good quality food is served in teh evenings. There is the slight complication of boats: You must be either staying on teh island or have your own boat if you want to be there in the evening. There are several several boats to the island most days. there are lots of outdoor tables. The geenral feel of the place is a little geared up to tourists, but it's still very friendly and welcoming all in spite of this. A generaly good pub

The Free Press, Cambridge

A traditional feel (tourist free) with high quality beers and a smoke-free environment. If it wasn't for the high prices and lack of space (to be fair it's most cosey than cramped) it would be perfect.

Eraina Taverna, Cambridge

This is talked about by locals as a resteraunt, indeed it has a resteraunt feel, and promots itself as a resteraunt. This is most DEFINITLY not a pub!
