sad to say this has to be the worst one ive visited of 3/4 of the spoons ive been in..though to be fair to the present management it was a year after it opened..beer was poor and so was the service..probably improved immensley since my last visit but i can still taste the goddards that was sour..put me off.

13 Apr 2008 20:40

The Marble Arch, Manchester

i love this pub..always busy and the food..if a tad pricey always looks and smells gorgeous as its wafted under ya beaks while sampling the many flavoured beers...the ginger marble is second to none..even beating glasgows clockwork beer co...the sloping floor can be a bit hazardous if your a bit tipsy on the way in...they do a good cider from the barrel on the back o bar...anyone visiting manchester should include this on there stagger..short bus ride from shudehill interchange and the bus stops right outside the marble arch..always a warm atmosphere in here..worth a damn good visit.

13 Apr 2008 20:30

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

another excellent pub to compliment the shalesmoor pub circuit..superb beer friendly staff gorgeous sun trap garden..a lot of local people in here but the streets are desolate outside..there are quite a few citys that could benefit with the enthusiasm sheffield landlords have for there beers..once again another top notch pub.

13 Apr 2008 20:22

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

one of my all time faves at shalemoor..best cider ive tasted in ages and lovely desserts and sandwiches..the beer is well kept and the tram ride is a must to this area..its good wen youve got a plethora of other real ale pubs in the vicinty of this pub to get large groups out here..sheffields one of the great citys for real ale..this pub serves as a flagship with the rest of the good fleet of pubs in this marvellous city

13 Apr 2008 20:17

9 Apr 2008 21:19

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale

my memories of this pub was walking in one sat pm after the bus had dropped me off walking in and thinking they had a cheese selection on...imagine my surprise wen the cheese became stronger the nearer i got to the fire...to find...rows upon rows of hikers socks drying out over the fire!!!!!the hikers were having lunch!!!the beer was good...but that smell of cheese always reminded me of the olde dungeon ghyll!!

9 Apr 2008 21:11

The Trackside, Bury

nice old bar just down the slope from the station entrance..the perry is to die for and is a lot better than the bottled stuff you keep finding..cant understand though why the cheddar valley red is slightly less red in colour than wat i normally get..but good all the same..well read blackboard and a good range of beer and collection of pump clips to boot!!

9 Apr 2008 14:03

The Fisherman's Tavern, Broughty Ferry

gem of a pub if you follow the road over the railbridge from the post office pub to the bottom..all beers i tried were scottish and excellent and the place was packed wen i visited on the friday this april..has a nice atmosphere and plenty of bar staff to keep up with demands..found this village to be quite interesting as there was a lot of activity going on in the pubs..the royal arch is also worth a mention as its not listed here...two great pubs.

9 Apr 2008 13:39

The State Bar, Glasgow

now this is wat i call a lovely pub in the city..made the mistake in thinking the bar was downstairs wen i ventured in as there was a lot of people congregated round wat i thought was the entrance..wen i ventured down the bar man asked if id just arrived and the first drink was on the house..!!!but wen i saw the solitary handpump on with no clip i was about to walk out wen the bar man said "are you with the party?"wat party????...told him id just walked through the door for a pint..he directed me upstairs and im so glad he did...wat a cracking pub..the beer was excellent and couldnt fault it..staff were efficient and un obtrusive tv screens so you could chat..a must if your staying in glasgow just around from charing x station..defo worth a visit..the street level bar..!

9 Apr 2008 13:05

The Bon Accord, Glasgow

now this pub is a very good find if you dont let the traffic put you off..virtually can see it from charing x station over the by pass...barman was spot on for service i couldnt fault him as at one point he was serving 3 at once but he knew who was waiting...good selection of beers north and south of the border..had the footy on upstaris and wat sounded like a 70s disco downstairs..located in a funny place next to the library but wen you start to follow north street it looks like your going down the wrong way down the slip road..nice pleasant terrace..bit pricey for 2 70 a pint but you get quality and pay for it..a must.

9 Apr 2008 12:57

The Clockwork Beer Co., Glasgow

took me a bit of a find cos i came out the station at mount florida a different way...not a good start..but found it eventually..the ginger beer was out of this world at 5%...just as good as the marble arch in manchester for the marble ginger..was quite empty wen i went in which gave me time to look at the interior without bumping into people..woth the walk from mount florida..reminded me of those old pubs in london on the junctions at traffic lights..staff very friendly and beer served from fonts...good selection as well as there own..jolly good stuff!!

9 Apr 2008 12:50

The Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow

what bad things could i say about this???NONE!!!lovely bar with very helpful bar staff...well kept beer on my visit..i would definitly make this my local if it were a mile or so away..keep it up.

9 Apr 2008 12:39

The Evening Star, Brighton

this pub was one of my faves..still is..i remember the first day it opened and geoff was there behind the bar for those able to remember geoff..he used to play old radio shows on a sunday lunch along with free grub..always wore a leather waist coat.felt privelidged to be the first through the door..now its gone from strength to strength..but i still think geoff was the pillar of a small baby..glad its still going strong..keep up the good work guys
