If I lived in Eastbourne I would be torn between this pub & the Victoria as a local. I have rarely been adopted as an honorary regular so swiftly & warmly as I was here. The ribald banter between staff & customers, healthy laughter echoing down the street & a friendly dog made my visit a huge pleasure. Sadly only John Smith's was my only drink choice but the company made up for that. Top pub.

A happy, by chance find in Eastbourne.

Let's start with the negative - some of the upholstery could do with renovating. For me, however, that's not important. This is a lovely pub with fantastically friendly and enthusiastic staff, friendly locals, plenty to look at on the walls (including toilets!) and an amazing garden complete with aviary. Loads of sport on the telly, too!

found this pub by off chance searching for a pub which would show the second leg of the play offs as the manchester derby was on half way through...the crown and anchor up the road offered to show it upito 1 30pm but would hae to turn it over...the landlord here let us watch it right through to penalties which was mostly welcome...great pub..my mate said the broadside was gorgeous and good value..good locals pub and well run and thanks again t the guvnor for letting us hijack one of his screens..cheers mate

This is a proper football pub. No need for wallpaper, just stick the old football sweeps that weve had on the walls. 2 screens can be found at either end of the bar ready to kick into action at the mere mention of the word FOOTBALL. I was in my element, but the misses wasnt so keen so we sat out in the garden. There is a covered area at the back of the pub, but the radio playing through the speakers was a little irritating when the adverts came on. There is also a large decked seating area in the centre of a larger garden. It was a shame that it was raining as I would have liked to have had a closer look at the avery that was chirping away. There is also seating outside the front of the pub.

I found the staff to be pleasant and the pool table and dart board to be an added bonus. There were 2 real ales on and a few standard lagers that were very nice.

I would recommend this place and Ill pop back in next time Im in Eastbourne and a match is on.
