The Ladywell Tavern, Ladywell

I love this pub, with its range of good beers, wines and atmosphere.

Sadly I have to the note the disappointing downhill slide of the food service which I can no longer give the benefit of the doubt. Prices have increased but food has gone from delicious to ok and mediocre, often served up overcooked or cold.
also the excellent stamp card scheme (an incentive which rewards the customer with 10 off a meal after 10 purchased meals) has been suddenly shelved without a notice, leaving embarrassed staff explaining that cards cannot be redeemed. I feel that existing cards should be honoured for loyal customers.
I hope that someone is listening who can turn around this underwhelming food experience. Cheers.

The Marquess of Anglesey, Covent Garden

I bought a cheese and pickle sarnie to go with my beer yesterday. Looked and tasted bland, lifeless and really cold, like it had just come from a packet out of a fridge!...And for the best part of 5 terrible value!

What happened to your food, Youngs?

The Prince Albert, Greenwich

OMG! What happened to this once decent traditional boozer?! Ok so it needed a bit a decoration, but they have managed to also strip out the lively atmosphere and all the customers as well. There were only us and tons of chairs and tables, it was like having a drink in a furniture showroom! The beers didn't taste that well kept either, didn't stay long. What a shame!

Crown, Hornchurch

Some good beers on tap and friendly customers and staff.
The shame is the pub has so much potential, but it is in desperate need of a refit, which would really benefit it and might bring a smile back to the face of the Landlord!

Brockley Jack, Brockley

Tasteful redocoration. Lovely cheap meal, good choice of beer & good value wine, friendly staff also. Think having a full restaurant area and they had run out of some desserts shows its popularity.

The George & Dragon, Westerham

Went in there for some dinner, immediately told we had 10 minutes to order food, as restaurant was shutting at 8pm. Was then asked after 1 minute if we was ready to order!

Not one is going to rush me when I am paying them, so we walked out and went over to the Kings Arms Hotel instead for a lovely meal.

The Jolly Farmers (ex jordan), Lewisham

Great pub, good beer and ambience.

Food really good as well, but menu seems slightly topsy turvy at present with sandwiches served in the evening, main meals at lunchtime, and curry is on a sunday. Maybe I'm just old fashioned!

The Ladywell Tavern, Ladywell

Pub has been shut for about 10 days now. Hear it was end of lease?

Hope it gets new owners who give it a proper refurb back to a traditional-looking boozer, but I fear it will end up as flats, as most closed Lewisham pubs do these days.

The Ladywell Tavern, Ladywell

Half of the pub is now a fine dining establishment, with cocktails & expensive prices to match, and surprise surprise it was empty when I last looked in.

Bearing in mind that there has only been crisps on offer as food before, maybe some simple pub grub fare would have been a better first step?

The Angel Hotel, Lavenham

Stayed at The Angel at the weekend. We've stayed here regularly over the last 10 years and the food is outstanding as ever, great choice of drinks, staff friendly, efficient & make you feel very welcome.

However, on this occasion we were surprised to receive a cheeky unnotified charge on our bill for our fried breakfasts (which were previously included in the weekend tariff). As this place has been recently taken over by the Maypole Group, I hope this isn't the first change of many to turn this Hotel into a cash cow, whilst stripping away its uniqueness.

The Masons Arms, Upminster

I used to go there 'back in the day' when it was a crazy pub, so I thought now its a restaurant it would be very different, but only change is a lick of paint & lots of tables & chairs, but all empty & no atmosphere, as we were the only ones eating!
My companions' meal of sausage & mash (8) I was told was excellent, but my steak (at 15) was overcooked, tough and bland - could have got better at a Wetherspoons for half the price!
The service was a bit half-hearted and sloppy, e.g. I was given the wine list and no-one came back to ask if I wanted any, and had to chase for a steak knife.

Overall I felt this place was selling pub grub at restaurant prices, but it does have potential...
