The pub and restaurant had a cosy feel to it. The merlot tasted very nice. The service is dependant on the waitresses. One of the waitresses was helpful. Another waitress when asked a simple question about the menu was very abrupt. I ordered Sausages with Leek, Mash and a Sauce. The sausages arrived over cooked and parts of it were burnt. When I told another waitress about the meal at the end a casual sorry was received from her. Nothing else was done. I will never go back to the restaurant and do no not recommend it to anyone.

Visited last evening and found this to be a pleasant pub with good food and friendly service. Beer range disappointing with Courage Best and Directors plus the ubiquitous London Pride. Rather expensive, though.

I met up with a relative for lunch some weeks ago and decided to eat outside as it was a really nice day. Were told by the waiter that the wait for food would be 30 mins as a party of 30 were expected (never heard or saw this "party"). When food arrived it was actually 45 mins later - there was a new waitress who didn't even bring us cutlery and the food was terrible. This was the second time I had been to the George and Dragon but I will never go there again. I even wrote a letter of complaint to the manager but got no reply !

I wish I had read the reviews first - at my suggestion we met friends at George & Dragon for drink and meal - we ordered 3 meals & one snack - two of the meals were awful and one was below par - my homemade steak & kidney pie was the worst I have ever had - I left more than half - 3 of us had the same disgusting vegetables - luke warm disgusting cabbage (yeterdays?), dried up carrotts and awful new potatoes that had been overcooked & kept warm (yesterdays?).
As for service, well it was amateurish - when asked for some lemon to squeeze on fish the waiter said "What?" - when we explained he brought us a wedge of lemon in his hand - when asked for some more he did the same again so I complained - no apology - dishes were cleared when we were still eating - no-one asked if we wanted sweets or coffees - in disgust we left and went to The Grasshopper for coffee - service there was excellent - we will never be returning to the George & Dragon, and we suggest you avoid it aswell !!!

Ate here today (Sunday) after not visiting for about a year or so. We were looking forward to the great roasts that we remembered from our previous visits. Staff very helpful but that was the most positive aspect of the whole visit, husband shocked at the price of £3.30 for a pint of London Pride and my £5 glass of wine was very sour, should have sent it back really. We are aware of the whole not being able to order drinks at the table and find it bizarre as to why the waiter/ess can't get them for you but we were aware of this from previous visits. The roasts were quite good portions but not as spectacular as before but meat dry, uninspring vegetables consisted of soggy cabbage and overcooked carrots, potatoes hard and old tasting too. Didn't remember it all being so pricey before either, maybe it was but was worth it back then, most certainly not now. Won't be visiting again.
