This poor pub is desperately in need of a lick of paint and some new carpets, i felt dirty just walking in there! Shame because it has such potential given the location and size. OliverBell - 10 Oct 2011 01:38

1st time ever went in last night around 9.00pm after living in Hornchurch 51 years (33 years of legal drinking) - looking for post Tesco therapy. Walked out in under 10 seconds. Reasons; 1) Very smelly (ie; pre-smoking ban) 2) No decent beer 3) regulars making free with comments on strangers, therofore any potential customers being put off even if the first 2 points were not an issue. There is much potential for this to be an above average surburban pub, especially with businesses like Neopost, B&Q and Tesco right on their doorstep - I hope whoever owns the freehold wakes up to what the Crown could be and has rhe cojones to make it into a pub that I would like to give a rating of not less than 7 husband - 10 Jun 2010 21:38
Some good beers on tap and friendly customers and staff. The shame is the pub has so much potential, but it is in desperate need of a refit, which would really benefit it and might bring a smile back to the face of the Landlord! yodagrit - 31 May 2009 11:15
Music is great, lots of local talent and the jam night is fantastic on a Thursday, though your name can get scratched for a friend of the organisers. If your a local the landlord and lady are friendly. If your not then they are both rude. The place needs a refit, everything is tired, sponge showing on the bench seats etc. Could be a great pub, but no love has been invested so its just an okay local's pub. Shame really. snowangel - 25 May 2008 17:47
