This place has changed hands again. It is now called the pasta and pizza pub. has anyone been there?

The Blacksmith's Arms, Donnington

This was a classic failing country pub. Now run by a very professional team. Two proper chefs. Food very good. Not nasty pub food, not cheap but high quality. Some good real Ales and a nice atmosphere.

The Alexandra, Worthing

Now reopened with a holding manager. Local opinion views the prospect of turning the site into social housing as too tempting.

The Last Resort, Worthing

Terrace has sea view and is possibly the best place in town to watch the world go by-at least in the summer. Decent new chef and very professional management.

The Clifton Arms, Worthing

Only days or weeks to go before this 'community' pub is lost to the community. Rent has not been paid, and the Landlord is not noted in the industry for its charity work.

As they say-use it or lose it!

The Alexandra, Worthing

Sadly as predicted- now closed for the forseeable future.I suspect the propertyu given its size will be turned into (social) housing.

Clarks Bar, Edinburgh

Used to live round the corner in early eighties. Visited this week, delighted to find nothing had changed in 25 years. A proper pub with all that is best about the bar culture which appears to be alive and well in Scotland but has been smothered by family friendly and themed pubs South of the border. Good beer, company and atmosphere. If it was not so cold I would move back.

The Spinnaker Bar, Chichester

Recently changed hands and is now run by the family who own the Tandoori nights restaurant in Chi. Was previously very good quality (in the evenings) but expensive for both food and drink. But the new owners appear to be after the trade not just from the multi-millionaire owners of expensive bits of plastic sitting in the water outside but passing trade and locals. Prices have dropped and meals are now more reasonably priced.

What is good about this place irrespective of ownership of the place is the setting. It is a very pleasant spot to watch the world go by,especially on a summer evening and with some interesting walks nearby.

The Alexandra, Worthing

When Tony Harriss had it,this was a pleasant well managed pub. It is sad to see it being run by people who do not appear to have the slightest idea of how to run a pub and who appear loathe to get out of bed and do a days work. Their days(in the trade) are presumably numbered. Avoid unless you are doing some kind of anthropological study.

The Half Brick, Worthing

As a local a couple of facts need clearing up here. The landlord is not a cockney and may possibly be offended by the suggestion that he is. Also, the connection with the George and Dragon was via the then leaseholder. The current landlord, (who is now also the leaseholder) had nothing to do with the desecration of the George and Dragon.

The Gun Inn, Findon

These reviews were true at the time. The pub has now (2007) been taken over by a brewery. With that comes all the mediocrity we would expect in Britain for both food, service and attitude and skills of the management. What a pity, a fantastic place once now sadly like most other places, essentially another franchise.

The Village House Hotel, Findon

Just taken over by the most experienced and successful publican Worthing has ever seen-Tony Hills-ex the Hare and Hounds and still running the Last Resort on the sea front. The day to day responsibility for management is with his son, but hospitality appears to be in their DNA. Food is by the talented Oliver Silverthorne. A winning combination if ever there was one. The Brewery knew what they were doing when they asked Tony to move in here. Had a couple of good meals here.
