The Fighting Cocks, Godshill

Really nice well run new forest pub, always busy yet always efficient, always smiling and very quick service.

Great place to take the family

The Ship Inn, Weymouth

Ok pub, one of the better ones, it may just be my luck but EVERY time I have been in they have run out of loads of stuff on the menu.

The Anglers Retreat, Staines

Bit dissapointed here, heard the food was good, I suppose it is if you like everything with chips and salad..

Nice atmosphere, just boring food and freezing cold inside.. LIGHT THE FIRES!

The Sir John Barleycorn, Cadnam

Been in here a few times and can never fault, always gone out of the way to accommodate.

Very Impressed

Amber Rooms, Loughborough

Nice friendly staff and service with a smile.

Would Highly recommend

The Harte and Garter, Windsor

I remember when you used to have to queue to get a table in here, now it is downright poor.

Terrible service, miserable staff and prices made out of phone numbers!

Basically a pub that thinks it can get away with it from the unsuspecting tourists.

0/10

The Hunters Lodge, Woking

Ok pub bit smelly needs a refurb..
Got annoyed when my Roast Beef turned up with a tiny portion and then two staff sat next to me with the biggest Sunday Lunches you could imagine..!
Will not be back and no I am not greedy, I am thin though maybe they thought I didn't eat!

The Devonshire Arms, Camden

** so things move on, its now a goth pub, get over it**

We have pubs for eating, meeting, getting p****d, straights and gays, and in the new century for goths..

Its called a sign of the times! MOVE ON STOP WHINGING

The Reef Bar, Waterloo

This bar is the pits!

Hot, sweaty and thats just the fat men waiting at the bar!

Two minutes in there and your the same!

And then when you go to the loo, lo and behold you need a code!

Good bye sharpish!

Bar du Musee, Greenwich

Oh for Gods sake stop using this site for whinging..

This pub is always busy, has a good stock of beers, wine and champagne and a cracking atmosphere, what more could you ask?????

So you have to wait for your order to be taken, its called sectioning, stock control, whatever!!

We all have our own job descriptions and believe it or not it works the same in a pub!.

I love this pub, good atmosphere, good range of drinks, considering how busy it is you don't have to wait to long..

Not yet eaten, but promise will try

The Pitcher and Piano, Richmond

Just spent all afternoon in this pub, great pub, service bad, more down to Wolverhampton and Dudley being tight on wage costs as the staff were rushing their ass off...

Two staff on the whole of outside on a hot day???

By the way some cleaners inside the pub, would be good ..., customers usually like to sit somewhere clean and tidy, just a basic requirement..

10/10 for the staff who remained really nice and pleasant throughout the whole day..
shame the menu is the same in the other w and d pubs just about 2 dearer in a P&P!

Loaf, Deansgate Locks

Good bar for after work drinks with a bottle of wine at 6.50.. Service can be slow.. don't eat though food is appauling!
Good atmosphere, decent people.

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

How can anyone give this pub a bad write up??, it has won Hampshire dining pub of the year numerous times, and has more other awards and acolades than the Oscars give out.
This is a pub that has not changed a bit inside but with its food and drink offering keeps up with the times. Yes I agree the manageress can be a bit stroppy, but look how busy the place is they have to retain some sort of order otherwise the place would go downhill.
This pub is perfect for anyone wanting away from the high street brands, and just disappear for a couple of hours.

The Ostrich Inn, Colnbrook

Hamburger, I think Innkeeper means Ostrich burger!
Exceptional value for money for this freshly cooked and prepared food. Try the Cod and chips it was 12 inches long!
Staff very friendly yet remain professional.
Can see it upsetting a lot more locals though as they focus more on food and more people from the surrounding areas start to visit.

The Haven Bar and Bistro, Lymington

Excellent mussels!
Tiny bar area though with only a few seats that the boat people take, so you end up being in the restaurant all night, oustside seating available if its good weather though

The Fisherman's Rest, Lymington

We arrived here desperate for a Sunday lunch, only to discover we were 10 minutes late, we must have looked terribly pale and thin as they offered us Sunday Roast and while it was being prepared gave us a bowl of rosemary roast potatoes to munch on ..YUMMY!

More expensive than anywhere else round the area but I would pay double to receive that service again.

WELL DONE!

The Mayflower, Lymington

I have been here in the height of winter when you look out from your bedroom window over the marina to see it covered in frosty snow, and then been down to breakfast in front of the real fire.

I have also been in here in the height of summer, with the bbq going, few ankle biters too many, but the more you drink the less you hear them!

Excellent food in the restaurant which is a kids free zone.

Good all round pub all the year round.

10 Aug 2005 18:18

The Rack and Tenter, Moorgate

The pub has been taken over by Wolverhampton and Dudley and Jane has gone. Now do you wonder why it has gone down??
I remember when you could hardly move in here.

8 Aug 2005 13:21

The Three Tuns, Bransgore

Always find here a bit hit and miss, its so picturesque outside but 1 in 3 visits is usually really poor.

8 Aug 2005 11:03

The White Buck, Burley

This is without a doubt the best pub in the New Forest, yes it may be a drive to get too, but it is seriously worth it. Good selection of drinks including fine wines and real ales, and the food is amazing, I have been going in here for 6 years and never once been dissapointed. You may wait a while for your food as it is freshly prepared and cooked, but when there is over 200 people in there, who do you know can cook meals for 200 in less than 1/2 hour.
Would highly reccommend this pub, to any visitor to the New Forest.

The Hawley Arms, Camden

The history of this pub, is that is was a proper rough hole, full of druggies and bikers, I should know it closed down in 1997, had a refurb and reopened in the July of that year as a gastropub by ME!
Greene King bought it the following year.
I visit quiet often usually on a Sunday and even though its now had a lick of paint it has still got the quirky character of 8 years ago, I LOVE IT, well done to the current owners, food is great, staff are a credit to you. And thats from someone who is very critical of her very first pub she opened. WELL DONE!10/10 from me!

Rocky O'Reillys, Prague

A breath of fresh air to Prague if you get sick of drinking budvar and pils!, staff speak good english too, and even though it gets full of blokes on stag weekends they are kept well under control, even though there was only 3 females in there I felt quiet comfortable and really enjoyed it!

3 Aug 2005 15:38

The Fire Station, Waterloo

Lovely characteristic pub, slightly overpriced (9) for two drinks, only bar staff on who I felt really sorry for as he had about 100 people in the pub and outside. All the same good atmosphere, didn't eat but may try next time.

3 Aug 2005 15:34

The Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames

The only few good things about this pub, is the location and the jugs of Pimms. The food is average but what is scarey is the amount of men covered in tatoos with their tops off with their pitbulls under the table and kids screaming everywhere. Lots of potential lousy at the moment.

3 Aug 2005 15:24

Casa, Bournemouth

Even though this pub now needs a bit of money spending on it, it still is probably the best place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Never any trouble in there and always decent people.

3 Aug 2005 15:18

Royal Oak, Fritham

I love this place its like drinking in your own front room, appart from your front room is probably bigger!
Lots of well kept real ales, all on the back bar, and the best Ploughmans around, wether you visit this pub in the height of summer or a deep cold winters night when it is all snow around it, you never want to leave.
Its like a proper chocolate box pub.

3 Aug 2005 13:11

The Ostrich Inn, Colnbrook

Travelling round on a Sunday looking for a good home made Sunday Roast and stumbled across here, what a find!!, Even though the place does look a bit old and tatty it fits in with the atmosphere and history and the Sunday Roast was excellent!.. Highly recommended

Bonds, Mayfair

***Now under a new manager, watch this guy turn this place around!, *** He will bring life back to it, I have known him for a while and his track record, GOOD LUCK !!

White Hart Inn, Stockbridge

Good pub, with excellent beer tasty food, relaxed atmosphere, very very friendly landlord and landlady....Worth a visit, bedrooms are very nice and clean too!
