Very friendly and enthusiastic young bearded chap (assistant manager?) here.Bar service incompetent however, with short measures, request for top-up necessary, spillage by bar server, and a distinct lack of smile, enthusiasm or personality.Harveys okay, but staff in need of some motivational tweaking/appropriate recruitment.
In conclusion-adequate, just.

Had a fantastic Thai curry prepared by Alan, the new landlord.
It was very tasty, and had a friendly chat with him whilst enjoying a few ales.

Went for a wedding breakfast last Friday, great food, very helpful staff, nice drinks.

Beautiful frontage leaves one unprepared for this thoroughly dreadful place with a strange smell, though not a whiff of class.Atrocious institutional food served up with florid 1980's menu descriptions.What sort of person is the owner of a place like this?Someone who knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing perhaps.

The Plough, Upper Dicker
New management have given this pub a spruce-up, and a more classic country hostelry feel.Good beers from Sheps, and a menu with proper food on it.
