The Old Windmill, Coventry

excellent beer. When I was there last month it had a weirdy alky woman sat there drinking wine to her heart's content. Seems to attract all sorts, but the beer was excellent. I'll be back.

The York Arms, York

I've been here several times over the last 2 years on crawls and whilst it's supposed to be a gay bar I really haven't seen it myself. Am I blind or is it just a normal pub? It looks normal to me and is only 1.40-ish a pint (March 2007) so who can complain?

The Minster Inn, York

This pub should be part of the 'campaign for real toilets'. It's one of maybe 3 pubs in York where gents have to go outside to go to the gents.

Sadly tied to W&D these days, not as much variety as in oldentimes, but at least they have lost the John Smiths bitter.

The Elephant, Fenchurch Street

I decied that instead of visiting a station bar at Fenchurch Street on my Monopoly crawl (still continuing) I should visit the nearest pub in the GBG. Frankly I was disappointed. As its Camra 2007 entry suggests the beer (Youngs Special I drank) was good, but the pub itself was so-so. I went to the Lamb at Leadenhall Market to make up for it. which was good :)

The Ackhorne, York

This is my local, every Sunday night for the quiz (Team Y.O.G.). The rest of the week I'm everywhere and anywhere in the UK.
The beer is always excellent, with about 5 real ales on. It has changed hands recently and the first couple of weeks in March has run out of beer by Sunday night... no good to me. Had to make do with 2 real ales to choose from. Fortunately they still had Roosters Yankee all night.
p.s. for non-Vikings, the pub is pronounced 'Acorn'

The Three Horseshoes, Witney

This is a restaurant. I was in on a Monday night, all but 2 tables (a big pub) were laid out for dining, so I had to sit in a weeny corner of the bar. No-one was in there to eat.
A travesty of what pubs are for. This could be a lovely pub with the good quality of the beer, but just not set up for drinking. Won't be going there again... try the Eagle instead.

The Eagle Tavern, Witney

On my small pub-crawl of Witney last night this was my second and last pub (after about 3 more in between).
Compared with others on Corn Street it sells an excellent selection of real ales at reasonable prices in a traditional venue with not too much noise. Compare my review of the 3 Horseshoes.

Hunters Bar, Ealing

The only pub on the Hanger Lane Giratory. Useful for visitors to the Holiday Inn Ealing. Is a Bar, not a pub, has no real ale, but has 2 Polish beers on draught (Tyskie and Lech, both of which I like), at 2.80/pint 27/3/07. Sorry I'm a Yorkshireman. All the local off-licences describe themselves as Polski sklep 's, and sell Polish beer, I got bottled Tyskie at 1.09/500ml.
