| I found this pub to be great !! loved, the beer was well kept, it was friendly and was just what we needed for a few beers on a Saturday afternoon. Although quite awkward to find, once you get there its worth it. I sampled hobgoblin, Rooster and Deauchars all of which were in good condition. | Micklegate is one of the main drinking/clubbing streets in York and this is a nice quiet (although not too quiet) haven just off the main run. Not a massive range of beers but what they have is always good - I can't remember ever having a bad pint here - and served by friendly staff. A definite advantage - at least for a smoker or anyone who likes to drink al fresco - is a good-sized, covered and heated beer garden that is comfortable and often has a good atmosphere (the beer garden does often seem to have a faint smell of metal polish, which is intriguing but not unpleasant.)
