The Barford Inn, Barford St Martin

bit out of our way but have to report that when we popped in the atmosphere was really poor - unfriendly - do not think we would bother again! beer is not well kept and everyone looked so unhappy. odd place.

The Snakecatcher, Brockenhurst

young untrained staff - young man seemed to be confused by the request for a bloody mary and wanted to give me just tom. juice and vodka - he didnt know what tabasco was and a legthy trip to to the kitchen revealed none in the place. we had a sandwich which was just ok -but this is not a pub - the atmosphere is that of an amateur wine bar run by trainees.

The Kings Arms Hotel, Christchurch

this is now kings rhodes- a gary rhodes restaurant. we popped in for lunch-it was really nice- friendly and the food was really tasty and not too overpriced at all. it is not a pub by any means but for a nice meal without any pretentious staff it is excellent.

The Waggon and Horses, Lymington

to expand - for goodness sakes how does this pub survive - how will it cope with so many pubs closing? hope the few locals who were there when we popped in spend -a lot -as cannot for the life of me see why anyone else would stay for more than a very quick pint. no atmosphere - no good food on offer - a sort of sports bar but empty of anyone playing.

The Hare and Hounds, Sway

visited for a quick meal, just two of us, atmosphere like a chain pub really-staff in badged uniforms looking uninterested. I had a lasagne-sure it was a microwave job- certainly didnt taste home made. Ok for a quick drink but not really for us, just Ok.

The Red Lion, Boldre

popped in again-were welcomed like old friends! really like the atmosphere here, and enjoyed the food again. will be going back for pie and pudding night as was 10 each for the best venison pie ever and a treacle sponge that was definitely homemade! waitress made a mistake about our coffees but was genuine in her apology so that it ended up making me like her even more.

The Fisherman's Rest, Lymington

had a christmas get together with friends here. the food was ok but i am not convinced it was homemade, didnt have that individual look. everything average really, all ok but not special.

The White Horse, Milford on Sea

a lovely friendly pub with super-clean toilets.
I dont think we would eat here as it looks a bit chips with everything but the staff are cheerful and very welcoming.

The Haven Bar and Bistro, Lymington

typical dont care, we have a captive audience and will charge them what we like attitude here. food is ok but so overpriced and the whole impression is of a hobby pub run for the few regulars.

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

have to agree. tried the seafood bar and nothing fresh in the seafood line, only fish. the seafood starters all straight out of a jar. service slow and uncaring - had to ask for a drink twice then remind them about it. such a shame as we were really looking forward to some nice fresh shellfish.

The Fleur de Lys, Pilley

cannot agree with plumbpudding. the beer here is really badly kept. we opted to leave and pop to the red lion just down the road. happened to be special pie and pudding night, very busy, but they fitted us in and we had the best venison pie ever, they wouldnt disclose the recipe but it was yummy. very friendly there-completely different to the fleur-de-lys attitude!

The Crown, Everton

visited in the summer, not too bad but the service was very offhand and food ok but not outstanding. visited again, invited, in autumn and found menu exactly the same, not much choice, service the same, no real welcome or friendliness, and do they ever clean their beer trays they are filthy. not going again. the food again was ok but nothing special.

visited this pub with our friends this evening, it was fab! Really warm and welcoming, the food was lovely, really good venison steak and from just up the road too. staff were so friendly and obviously enjoy their jobs. the log fires were a boon as it was tipping down outside but the landlady still went to the garden to get fresh mint for my sister to hav mint tea. we will be regulars. recommend the puds too.
