Had a lovely meal here a couple of weeks ago, on a nice sunny day. Sat in the garden, and ate the biggest Ploughman's I have seen. I did wonder why nobody else was having starters. Had a nice pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord, and a guest ale called Fuggle De Di, I think, from a brewery on the Isle of White. Definately will pay another visit. hampshirehog - 8 Aug 2008 20:45
Only been once. Normally an ale drinker, but don't like Ringwood (why don't more places have Badger?!) sat in the garden on a fairly miserable day in July. Can imagine it would get very busy as it's such a nice place (though the staff were more concerned with the locals than us...which is fair enough I suppose). There is a climbing frame for the kiddies, but while I was there the kids playing outside were fairly well behaved. About a million times nicer than the forest heath. In future I will take the extra ten minutes to walk up there for a pint while waiting for a train! popiellajones - 14 Jul 2008 22:07
Great Food & well looked after beer. Always a friendly atmosphere. A meeting place after work for farmers, thatchers fencers & city types trading jovial banter. An ecleptic mix of forest people enjoying life. Nice open fires in winter & a lovely garden for the summer royalmarine1 - 6 May 2008 16:19
This pub was written abt time and time again in the guest book of where we were staying. I have to say it lived up to it's reputation, the food was fantastic. Being a vegetarian is a bit of a pain and veggie options are usually bland and unimaginative 'goats cheese' dishes - not here. I had the most amazing quorn and mushroom pie which i have never seen on a menu, which was homemade and so tasty. There were quite a few veggie options which was great! 10/10 and would def pay another visit claudinechris - 27 Apr 2008 18:17
