Church Inn, Chelmorton

Another fantastic meal last weekend, food and drinks excellent. Service brilliant - nothing is too much trouble. Very nice setting too. Look forward to returning soon!

The Roebuck Inn, Mobberley

Not bad food, but by the same token not exactly overwhelming. Cider was unimpressive, surely pubs these days can offer something other than the over-commercialised stuff that you can buy in any supermarket?? Service friendly enough very attentive.

The Ship Inn, Styal

Not a bad pint of Bombardier served by a misery-bottom of a Landlady. Looks grubby compared to what I remember it being like 20 years or so ago and could do with a bit of a tidy up, especially outside.

The Gurnards Head, Zennor

Simply sublime. Great drink and excellent, reasonably-priced food. When I die please scatter my ashes in its fireplace.

My favourite place to eat in Cornwall.

The Tinners Arms, Zennor

Tries too hard. Nice enough food, but you don't have to offer foie gras with virtually everything on the menu. Maybe you do to justify the prices, who knows. Not bad all in all, but not as fancy as it would like to be, nor as homely as it's setting suggests. I'd drive right past and continue to the Gurnard's Head every time...

Church Inn, Chelmorton

Went back again on Monday whilst visiting my parents and if anything the Church Inn has got better. Fantastic food and drink. Landlord can't do enough for you. Can't wait to return.

The Bears Head, Sandbach

Indeed it does gouldeneye and this continues inside. Alas, the food is not very good at all and the service wasn't up to much either. Makes us realise how lucky we are down here in Cornwall. Bears Head scores 2/10 - Must try harder.

The Dolphin, Penzance

Enjoyed my visit here. Nice roast, welcoming service and good drinks. Will return.

Royal Castle Hotel, Dartmouth

Really friendly, good service. Beers good, if a little pricey. Nice place to stay with really good food.

The Halzephron Inn, Gunwalloe

Dreadful service and ordinary, over-priced food. Very isappointed after many recommendations from friends.

The Star and Garter, Falmouth

Had a very enjoyable meal in here today, with great service to boot. Will definately return.

The Pandora Inn, Restronguet

Fantastic setting. Food average at best - not bad but doesn't command the prices they charge for it. One barman was friendly, the other downright obtuse. Drinks were fine, not a great deal of choice mind.

Yr Hen Llew Du, Aberystwyth

Another great place where locals and outsiders get on just fine. Good atmosphere and decent enough drink.

The Pier Hotel, Aberystwyth

Really liked this place, but not sure why. Friendly locals!

30 Oct 2009 18:46

The Cambrian Hotel, Aberystwyth

Death Star!

Yr Hen Orsaf, Aberystwyth

Nice building but terrible service from what I remember. Ordered some food which didn't turn up for over an hour. Went and questioned this with the manager and he simply plonked my money back in my hand without word of an apology. Not one of JD's best...

The Packet Station, Falmouth

Don't like it. It has no soul at all.

30 Oct 2009 08:40

Harbour Inn, Porthleven

Good beer but terrible service. Go to the Ship instead!

30 Oct 2009 08:27

The William IV, Truro

Bad food, though the drink was ok. Not much different to a Weatherspoons pub to be honest. No character or atmosphere at all.

29 Oct 2009 14:01

The Hawkins Arms, Zelah

Good food and friendly staff. Enjoyed my visit here. Will return.

25 Oct 2009 20:20

The Golden Lion, Port Isaac

Good food, lots of character and decent drink. Would recommend.

25 Oct 2009 20:20

The Drunken Duck Inn, Barngates

Lovely food. Full of complete prats when we went in though.

19 Sep 2009 22:09

Red Lion Inn, Hawkshead

Food was expensive when we went, but very, very good. Service was spot on as well Can't wait to go back.

19 Sep 2009 22:07

The Saracens Head Inn, Symonds Yat East

Lovely place. Food is fantastic and the setting truly amazing. Gets busy, especially in the summer but well worth the visit.

19 Sep 2009 22:05

Fox & Hounds, Comford

Yikes, went back in view of it being awarded "Cornwall Dining Pub of the Year". Wish I hadn't, the food was dreadful this time round - cold veg with the main and cold bread and butter pudding for afters!!! Revolting!

19 Sep 2009 22:02

Church Inn, Chelmorton

Great pub. Cracking pint, good food and a friendly welcome.

16 Aug 2009 17:44

The Crab and Ale House, Truro

Not bad, friendly welcome and drinks were fine.

16 Aug 2009 17:22

The Blue Bar, Porthtowan

Great place, very quirky with good events schedule.

16 Aug 2009 16:35

The Ship Inn, Porthleven

Great pub. Food is very good, if a little expensive. Beer is excellent, though a few more choices would be better. Setting and views are spot on - a pub with loads of character.

16 Aug 2009 16:30

Golden Lion Inn, Stithians Lake

Have been a couple of times. Despite being old, the pub has very little character at all. Food is probably the worst I've eaten in a Cornish pub.

16 Aug 2009 16:28

Fox & Hounds, Comford

Thought the food was average and quite expensive, good drinks though. Concur with stelladrinker's comments about the service. They had a nice log fire on the go when I was there in January mind!

16 Aug 2009 15:39

The Beehive Bar, Helston

Dreadful place. Poor beer, stinks and is full of chavs.
