We were totally appauled by the service in this pub. The food was served with key ingredients missing and when he asked for the food to be added we got nothing. Literally nothing, no replacement for the forgotten food which we had payed for. No apology, no smile, NOTHING!!! (Well she did shrugg her shoulders) The atmosphere was dead. Avoid this pub at all costs!!

What a pity.
Had an evening meal in the "quieter bar." It seemed that the staff couldn't wait to get rid of us so that they could set up for breakfast in the morning. It's also a hotel.
So we went into the other bar. No connecting way through, so you have to go outside and go in again.
It's a large bar with fruit machines. pool table at the end. A band "Bucket of Blues" were playing. Might be all right if they sack their drummer!! He seemed to think that it was a 'who can play loudest competition.' Several people came and went because he was so intrusive.
Skinners beer was good, but wasn't impressed with the 35p charged for soda in a white wine spritzer.

My wife and I visited several times during the week commencing 14th June 2008. Good modern day pub - nice enough venue with mos cons such as quiz machines etc. Ate outside by the harbour once - chose it because the other options seemed so expensive. Had two straightforward meals - nothing fancy - and they were very good.....with outstandingly quick service even though they had a wedding reception going on inside. Also went to the quiz on Thursday evening - great fun (though a rather dour presenter). For the non-arty-farty types an overall good pub (see also my comments on Atlantic Inn and Ship Inn). For the purists I can see that it wouldn't suit, but I liked it.

What a disappointment. We opted for this venue for early dinner on a windy and rainswept June evening. Just the sort of venue ideal for the conditions and spectacular scenery.

Sadly, we found that its outstanding location on the historic Porthleven harbour is all it has going for it (oh, but it does sell draught Cornish Rattler cider!!).

Awful food, very bland which matched the lack of atmosphere within the premises. Avoid at all costs - there are far more beautiful places nearby. Don't be swayed by the relatively inexpensive menu or specials board. The bad experience left a nasty taste in the mouth together with the blandness of the dishes.

Back in the day, I am assured this was a great pub. Now, however, it's no more than a boring chain pub with little or no atmosphere. There's nothig wrong with it, but there's nothing right with it either.
