Navigation, Stafford

I visited this place a couple of weeks ago while on holiday and have to say that this place really has fallen through the floor since the most recent reviews.

When I arrived, I walked into one of the bars, only to be rudley told by the Landlord that this bar was closed (no notice on the door, only a table which had been placed haphazardly to block the entrance from the other side). I then went into the bar that was open. There were only 2 other patrons there. I went up to the bar but the landlord had disappeared so I waited a few minutes. I then set up my laptop to surf the internet and the Landlord reappeared with the question "do you want a drink?" asked in a similar rude fashion.

I ordered a drink, drank it, surfed the internet and then went back to the boat, deciding that I would not be eating there.

I did find out subsequently that the landlord is new but was previously said to have come from a pub in the red light district of Bradford (although I do not know if that is true or not). Either way he has a lot to learn about simply being a landlord. He did not make me feel welcome in any way, the atmosphere is miserable and the plant pots on the outside of his pub had flowers in them that were long dead and dried up. There was also a banner advertising Christmas booking for 2014 (which just about says it all really).

As you may have guessed, this pub is a dump and should be avoided. I don't know what the other pubs in Gnosall are like but I am sure they are a darn sight better than this one.

Bermuda Park, Nuneaton

Horrifyingly average. Food is expensive for what you get. Been once but won't be going again.

Swan Inn, Fradley Junction

This pub has been named as one of the best on the canal network (and it's worth seeking out if you're not on the cut).

The food is excellent (especially the mixed grill). The book shop in the basement is worth a look too.

The Cock Inn, Sibson

Lovely pub (and one of the oldest in the country). The drinks is good and the food (although on the pricey side) always excellent.

The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall

Had dinner in here on Good Friday. I know this is a Weatherspoon's pub but the least anyone could reasonably expect is food that is hot and tastey. The management of this place evidently fail to hit those low standards. The mixed grill I had was luke warm, tasteless and terrible. I would rather eat a three week dead rabbit than eat in this dive again.

The Man in the Moon, Stanmore

This must be one of those rare Wetherspoon pubs where they seem to be doing things right. The food was good and the service was quick, despite the fact that they were very busy.

The Dirty Duck, Stratford Upon Avon

Very nice with lovely food and within easy reach of the RST.

The Captains Cabin, Piccadilly

Nnce, friendly pub serving good value food. Very handy for Piccadilly and Leicester Square.

The Old Wellington Inn, Manchester

Went to this pub on the 14th of December, 2006 before the Iron Maiden gig at the MEN Arena. I ate in this pub in 2001 and thought it was rather good. Alas since then it seems to have fallen through the floor. There was nowhere near the right number of waiters and the waiters that were on duty need to go on a course of attending to the customers needs. I entered at 4.50PM, ordered food at 5.15PM and was still waiting at 5.55PM. It was busy but wasn't like you couldn't move in the pub. I tried to attract the attention of the staff who ignored me. I decided at this point that at the current rate of progress, dinner would more likely be breakfast. Next time I will vote with my feet and go anywhere in Manchester but here.
