Definitely not closed, but not exactly overly furnished inside. Possibly because of the England World Cup game in the evening, but furniture was at a premium.
Very limited lunchtime menu (World Cup bar snacks at £2 per option - not too bad considering) and an uninspirational selection of beer. Had a somewhat vinegary pint of John Smiths.
Great place to watch the football if you're a lager drinker, but I won't be heading back in a hurry.

Dont normally write these but thought had to put something on to warn people about this place. Took my mum for lunch there on Monday, without doubt the worst customer service ever seen in a pub. Ordered 2 dishes with a side order of chips. The 2 main dishes took 35 minutes to arrive, and the extra chips didnt turn up-till the meal was finished. Lasagne was burnt, with the side salad being non existent..
The young idiot barman was very rude, and when we asked to see the manager he went downstairs, came back and said "yeah she in the kitchen now she be up bout 20 minutes". Not exactly good behaviour from a manager. We left before she came up, safe in the knowledge we would never return!

Went in the during the week footy was on the box.No atmosphere, did notice some of the idiots looking at you as if you had three heads.People like that dont wory me,but for someone less robust it could be intimidating.Crapbeer and crap service. Will avoid due to the beer, better off going to the Five bells!

Not tried it in the week but at weekends probably not the place for a relaxing drink unless you like getting eye-balled when you go to the toilet. Although opens late and this place can seem like a good idea after six pints.

Nice enough inside, some big plasmas, nice enough crowd, good prices. There is a blonde barmaid who needs to be pushed out the door though and a manager who needs a dry slap. Busy (but not crowded) and she is the only staff member on, 10 mins to get a drink. She makes a dog's breakfast of porung a Guinness and it tastes the worse for it. She doesn't aknowledge the fact you are looking to get a drink (no peripheral vision, god knows if she has spotted you, and no I was not waving a twenty note around like I was in a strip joint) and they will not get more regular custoemrs if they neglect anyone who is not a regular to serve the regulars when it is bloody well my turn to get served. Smiling and fawning over regulars at the pool table end of the bar while treating others like something on her shoe is not good customer service. Grrrrrrr.
