I like this pub and contributors who allege anywhere has a lack of atmophere should examine their own personality... I am warmimg to it over the Old Bank which seems to value Chelsea fans for televised games over friendly groups wanting a few beers and a chat

I agree with the comment on the stairs to the loos, but the loos are decent compared to some places.

Wouldn't really use this as my local as not enough atmosphere and very little if no live music.

Safe enough for lone females though.

i have only been in here in the afternoon midweek and it was practically empty by then. however, i found it was very comfortable settings for a pub and the staff seemed pleasant. nice selection of beers, but i would not like to be here in the evenings or weekends when it get very busy, because i can see it getting overcrowded and too smoky.

Nothing much wrong with this place really it just seems to be suffering from too much competition. It doesn't even seem to get that busy on Big football match days. It's hard to put your finger on why it seems to have died off. Maybe most people have the same attitude as me, you tend to just walk past it on the way to somehwere else without really giving any thought to going in. Saying that i did venture in a few weeks back and didn't mind it, the staff were welcoming and the beer was OK. We only stayed for one though as there didn't seem to be a reason to stay. I actually think that one day the number of pubs in Sutton will begin to lessen and I'd probably put this at the top of the list to close first, pity as there are worse pubs in Sutton, trouble is there's also better ones

I agree with morchuboo, it is a nice enough place, nothing special.

However, this is a glowing recommendation when you compare it to most of Sutton High Street's other pubs (I use the world 'pubs' here in the loosest possible sense).

If you really are unfortunate enough to find yourself in Sutton on a Friday or Saturday night, then head here. It might just save you from getting robbed/stabbed/the clap.

And as bionicdog alludes, the stairs to the toilet are very steep, and get steeper as the night progresses.
