We usually visit the Hungry Fox in Beal but this pub is not much further away. We decided to try a different place and our Nephew told us that the Jug inn was very nice. Our meal was lovely this is such a cosy little place, a real hidden gem is what my husband said and i have to agree.

Called into this pub after a recommendation from a friend who uses it regularly. Was welcomed by a very friendly older gentleman who I assume to be the landlord. He was offering a lovely range of real ales (Black Sheep and a dark mild with Wakatu by everards and a Theakstons). Tried the theakstons and the sheep, the latter being the best i've tasted in yorkshire! I sat in a very full dining room and ordered from a comprehensive menu. The food was served in good time and was nothing short of outstanding! I was also led to believe that the chef that evening was not the regular guy but one of the owners. Full marks! The place was small but buzzing with a lovely jovial atmosphere. If more pubs and restaurants utilised this particular pubs strategy then there would certainly NOT be so many closing. Full marks again to the Jug. Outstanding!

A nicely located pub, recent changed hands. Previous vists were enjoyable, choosing from a limited supply of real ales accompanied by good pub grub style food.
The new owners appear to be offering more choice on the ale front, along with a more ambitious menu - it bodes well and I look forward to more visits.

well, looking at the comments its over 3 years since i last visited the jug, back then it was quiet, there were only 1 or two real ales (volume brands) and the food was okay. What a surprise i got on returning recently. There are now three real ales on regular rotation with a regular that according to their knowledgable beer expert, is usually Black sheep, but they are experimenting with some real classics, the Tetley's Mild is outstanding and the rotated ales and a quick scan of the ales board shows that there is some really good ale passing through this pub. The real change here though is the food, some creative fusion dishes and although probably not the cheapest in this area was outstanding, much busier than i remember as well with two likeable, charming and friendly hosts. we were so impressed that we turned up for Sunday lunch the following weekend only to be disappointed that we could get a table for the next four hours. Make sure you book for sunday lunch, it was packed to the rafters when we went. Very nice place that makes us think we may be venturing over this way more often

No local pub can come close to the Jug for quality food, the dedicated restaurant is pretty unique for the area and the food beats local competition hands down. I'm sure drinkers may consider other pubs in the area, although the cask ales on sale are well kept by the landlord, who appears to be a frustrated real ale man.

Where this pub REALLY beats the local competition hands down is the food, there is some serious talent behind some traditional and some more adventurous dishes that appear on the menu. This is definitely NOT pub grub, no piles of chips here. The Jug have found a niche in the area. There arent many places to go if you want a proper quality meal in the local area but the Jug offers easily the best food in the area, with a mature and friendly crowd of locals this really is the only place to go south of selby if you want something nice to eat! excellent

Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated little pub. The food here is excellent, the lasagne is one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Very friendly staff, especially the chef/landlord and his wife. Beer good. Well worth a visit.

nice enough place but quite pricey for the area and the service wasn't the best, took a long while to get served. didnt try the food but what i assume was the restaurant looked full. not bad, better pubs in the area though

Excellent food, served in a very hospitable environment.

Beautifully decorated & furnished country pub done as it should be.

Avoid the George & Dragon at West Haddlesey, and go to the Jug. It beats the G & D hands down in all areas.

recently opened up again and the interior is lovely, sadly limited real ale selection but the food is worth a visit alone.
