The Red Lion, Hockley,jewellry quarter

This pub, like the clifden is pure quality. UAB is really a sign pointing out- friendly welcome, gorgeous ales and top quality interesting pubs. The kind I find hard to leave, which as an avid pub crawler can sometimes make life hard

Keep it up

The Old Fox, Birmingham

Decided to meet here with my mate the other friday as a change from the near by Dragon Inn. Was quite empty at 5.30 which is usually the best time for pubs up town. Enjoyed a pint of Slaters Why Knot, which was low abv and a good starter beer. My mate thought the place was run down and in need of a lot of work. I agreed that with a bit of work it could look much better though I wouldnt want another trendy place round here, that would spell an end to the real ales...

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Everyone I bring to this pub for first time just loves it straight off, from my girlfriend to my mates of all different ages and tastes in booze. They moan all the way on the 10 plus minute walk from the town centre, but this soon stops when soaking in this pubs atmosphere, enjoying the Bathams or even playing table tennis/football in the best beer garden in or around the City Centre. Was here last saturday enjoying numerous pints of Bathams and a burger from the BBQ, thought it was pricey at 4.50 but it was an awesome burger and I didnt mind as it was at the clifden. Will be back saturday nite if all goes to plan on my pub crawl, cheers

The Wellington, Birmingham

WELLINGTON is our usual meet up place for pub crawls and last visit on the 29th August. We were playing cricket in the alley behind with a plastic bat and ball and got quite a few people involved, regulars and newbies alike. Just shows that over a large selction of ales and ciders just how much fun you can have and that the atmosphere in this pub is top class. Cheers to everyone who got involved

16 Sep 2009 10:37

The Y Giler Arms, Pentrefoelas

Bathams owned pub! The only one outside the Midlands
And its quality, call me sad but I drove here from Brum on a day out just for a pint (well was going to close by betsy) and Its a gorgeous pub in beatiful country surroundings, and best of all they have Bathams (the best beer ever)

14 Aug 2009 10:44

The Waggon And Horses, Bewdley

Oh, forgot i stopped here, was driving so only had half a Bathams, just cant turn this beer down when its on!!!!

14 Aug 2009 10:42

The Cock and Magpie, Bewdley

Visited a few months ago, was def impressed with interior and quality of the pub. Had never been when in old condition but as last review, you really should try again if you have the same opinion as Millay

14 Aug 2009 10:40

The George Hotel, Bewdley

Been here a couple of times on visits to Bewdley
Its a nice large spoons with friendly staff
Really wish I could say more

14 Aug 2009 10:38

The Harborne Stores, Harborne

Used to quite like the stores a couple of year ago and enjoyed drinking from time to time in Harbournes very own wetherspoons. Made recent visit and noticed the below mention refurb which is obvious. They have done a top job and the value is still great....reccomended

21 Jul 2009 13:47

The Plough, Harborne

Is a top pub. Feels like a piece of Moseley has just been transported into Harbourne. Top quality beer garden and have been lucky with the weather on the last couple of visits. Great beer selection, wye valley butty bach and hpa on and on top form. 8/10

21 Jul 2009 13:44

The Sportsman Inn, Harborne

Despite many trips to harbourne and doing all the high st pubs, I made my first visit to the sportsman on a saturday a couple of weeks back. Enjoyed a nice pint of morrissey fox ale. Friendly welcome by the barman and the regulars even though we only had one... will be back im sure

21 Jul 2009 13:40

The Navigation Inn, Kings Norton

Just ate here with a few friends, all 3 of them had steak. due to the good 2.99 deal. Steak looked good and came with the usual trimmings, not bad. Only problem there was one steak knife left, 1 between 3, joke. And if thats not bad enough, the barmaid explained that due to people eating outside this time of year they are stealing the knives, what a good advertisement for the pub! Full of knife stealing customers....

On a brighter note pint of Davenports was very nice

21 Jul 2009 13:34

The Station, Kings Heath

Drove past the other day, now open again, will have to viist soon

22 Jun 2009 13:13

Tower Lounge, Blackpool

Its ok! YET MORE PLASTIC GLASSES

27 Apr 2009 08:23

Walkabout, Blackpool

Only 2nd walkabout ive been in, this place is very poor compared to Brum

27 Apr 2009 08:22

Scruffy Murphys, Blackpool

One of the cheaper pints I sampled in Blackpool, small place

27 Apr 2009 08:21

The Goose At The OVT, Selly Oak

The Goose now serves beer in plastic glasses, apparently police instruction for next couple of weeks after multiple incidents.
Have to say the Black Sheep at 1.59 a pint was still gud even in plastic

10 Apr 2009 11:30

The Wellington, Birmingham

Went here early sat, could not notice the below mentioned smell. Enjoyed the HPA and the Mad Goose which was quality. Really cant fault this pub for quality ales and choice, my only problem is sometimes Im spoilt for choice, cant be bad!

9 Apr 2009 15:58

The Hogshead, Solihull

Very cheap and even beating the wetherspoons next door for price. Nice John Smiths at 1.45.

23 Mar 2009 16:44

O'Neills, Solihull

Quality Oneills, been a copule of times but not on weekend

Great Guiness

23 Mar 2009 16:41

The Ladybird Inn, Aston Fields

Visited for second time on Sat, first since Bromsgrove Beer Festival 2008.
Enjoyed the Bathams, and very much a shame I was driving this time so could only have one. Also had Wye Valley HPA and The Usual. Nice boozer and right next to the train station. If your going by train to this years festival then this is a must stop

7/10

23 Mar 2009 16:39

The Vine (Bull & Bladder), Brierley Hill

mmhhhhhh bathams. Visited the Bull and Bladder on Sat, for a couple before a party at the waterfront. was looking forward to visitin after readig the reviews and enjoying bathams at the lord clifden, hockley. is now easily my favorite beer, that I have tried so far...and this pub was brilliant puring 2 perfect pints while chatted to some locals. Gud friendly service as well, cheers

22 Dec 2008 12:09

The Old Royal, Birmingham

dont think much has changed here since Beastlyrotters comment Oct07
there was agression with the guy serving us, especially as 1 out of the four had peanuts and not a drink. They were 1 a bag anyway so not exactly bad custom and the other 3 all tried the xmas ale Santas Tipple.

Very nice ale and infact once away from the bar was a good place to watch sky sports news and enjoy a pint.

18 Dec 2008 10:35

The Church Inn, Hockley

Visited as per my below comment on Sat, in fact went back after leaving.

Staff were friendly and up for some banter, especially the bar man who gave us the sugar, ha!

Food was value through and through, inexpensive and very nice. All day breakfast recommended

Thanks for a good few visits so far, unfortuantley the holdens ran out as we were ordering, though Mr Scrooge and Rockin Robin xmas special ales were very tasty

Cheers

15 Dec 2008 10:10

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Spent a lot of Friday nite ere, awesome time
Pub was quieter than any other visit but that didnt matter, we left at 11ish as was starting to get busier. Will stay later on next visit

Bathams was spot on again and again. HPA very refreshing and service/banter with staff was quality. Im def not a regular but have been made to feel welcome by all staff and regulars who also help make this pub awesome.

Cheers

15 Dec 2008 10:04

The Church Inn, Hockley

Nice! I liked it though was only passing on way to Lord Clifden
Holdens, very nice pint, will be back, in fact will pop in on pub crawl this Sat

11 Dec 2008 09:06

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

The drinks selection is good and you can easily read about evry single one by the time you get served. Once you are served, i reccomend the ales..Black Sheep was very nice on Sunday eve. As my previous comment the Budvar Dark WAS awesome and is no longer there, please bring it back... if anybody knows where you can get this please post here.
If not will just have to go back to Prague...
all in all its a interesting pub, nice at quiet times, hit it early in a crawl...

26 Nov 2008 16:21

The Dark Horse, Moseley

Do plenty of Moseley pub crawls these days and this pub is nice for a stop off, generally laid back atmosphere in here and as below good selection of foreign lagers, shame bout the ale...

26 Nov 2008 16:17

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

This is a good oneills, not many left though anyway...
Watching footy or the live bands on a friday is cool
Guiness sells well and tastes excellent here so worth tryin if you have avoided

20 Nov 2008 16:39

Barracuda Bar, Birmingham

Chavacuda, now thats how ive always known it, wen I jus turned 18 came here a few times, but soon left for snobs...

Was walking past with a few mates on a crawl and the tout said to come in, quid a pint and free entry, was ok with us wearing trainers, so cheap beers and played pool for an hour then left before being completely swamped by chavs

If this offer is on, then giv it ago, just dont get carried away and think its worth stayin...

20 Nov 2008 16:33

The Queens Arms, Birmingham

Nice enough pub, have been a few times, very ideal to stop off if heading from bennetts hill to the jewellery quarter or visa versa.

Strange occurence on one visit was a chav buying a bottle of Moet to take out!!!!

10 Jul 2008 15:26

Apres, Birmingham

Been here a few times when Ive gone the cinema...Its a smart place that have poured me a nice guiness before. Will mark 6/10 cus I do like it however will probs upgrade my mark when I visit for a longer session and grab a bite to eat....

1 Jul 2008 16:30

The Red Lion, Birmingham

Viisted the Red Lion for the first time on Sunday 22/6/08. Was very impressed with the pub, the service and the food was top drawer tho maybe a bit on the expensive size for the portions...Had some good looking beers on and one of my fave beers Staropramen. Tho I did not get to try as was driving, which is the usual when I pick a pub to go to for sunday lunch. Will be back!

25 Jun 2008 12:42

Windsor, Birmingham

Cheap if you like lagers, well cheap for city centre and pub food good value. I quite like it here though its not my usual type of fave. Agree with below, not too different from a Wetherspoons.7/10

23 Jun 2008 08:57

The Camp Inn, Kings Norton

THEY TOOK THERE TIME
BUT AT LAST ITS BACK:....
THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDARY CAMP CHIP BUTTY
JOHNS LIFE HAS NOW BEEN FULL FILLED

PUB OWNED BY SAME PPL WHO RUN THE PRINCE OF WALES IN MOSELEY

REAL ALE AND WELL KEPT LAGERS, PUB HAS A LARGE BEER GARDEN AND LIVE MUSIC AT WEEKEND

GET THERE, HAVE A PINT AND HAVE A CHIP BUTTY

18 Jun 2008 13:46

Elizabeth Of York, Moseley

Good place to have a beer, have not ate at this wetherspoons but sure its usual spoons stuff. Beer is decently priced, the place is clean and the staff are friendly. When in Moseley always ere for at least one.

18 Jun 2008 08:24

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

The Truth09, its not first time raters, we were all there once, its one time raters. Meaning the person registers, rates a pub high, comments highly and never rates another pub all on the same day.
Hope that explains

PS, this pub is quality

12 Jun 2008 08:43

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

You see a lot of pubs fly up the ratings with help from one time raters as metioned by the giant below. I noticed on friday that this pub was topping the charts so with living in Brum i thought I would make my debut. And have to agree with all below comments that this is a quality pub. Has something for everyone and a top beer garden. Will be back for sure. 8/10

9 Jun 2008 08:27

Bohemian, Moseley

Your right, Mr TOMRIGHT, I apologise for my previous rant.

Though how come any one with anything good to say about this place registers for one day to comment on this one pub?

Including tomright, night and bebeT...friends of the pub indeed?

My review earlier on this pub was not harsh, just pointed out lack of individuality at a high price..
I will pay the price when its worth my time and taste

27 May 2008 10:01

The Kerryman, Digbeth

I would like to take back my previous review, This pub has gone completely down hill. Lost a lot of business to the dubliner and hennesseys. Music is shite with some regae depending on how many chavs are asking for it. Was ten peeps in ere at half 10 at nite on Fri 2nd May. Joke. Go elsewhere for better booze and atmosphere.

12 May 2008 08:29

Dragon Inn, Birmingham

Have visited this pub many times since it opened instead of Oneills. Its very useful for cheaper booze if on a pub crawl from City Centre/Arcadian through to Digbeth. As previous reviewer points out its a regular spoons in many ways. But I think its more like Briar Rose quality than Square Peg or Figure Of 8.

9 May 2008 10:54

Hopwood House Inn, Alvechurch

Went here to grab sum sunday lunch this wkend, was very good service and good value food. Good selection of beers but was driving but will be back on foot at some point im sure.

6 May 2008 08:36

The Bulls Head, Moseley

Always had a good guiness on my few visits. Will make the effort one day to see a band here

2 May 2008 10:42

The Village Inn, Moseley

Been here twice for food now, prety standard stuff, staff friendly enough and cant imagine the pub gets too much trouble, nice size car park so good for driving into moseley.

2 May 2008 10:38

The Crooked House, Gornal Wood

This pub is just awesome. Me and my mate were heading to a wedding reception in Himley and decided public transport and a country pub crawl were in the offing. And im glad we came here b4 I was too drunk otherwise I dont think I would of kept my footing. Top pint of Guiness here and my mate had a beer which looked well kept.

1 May 2008 16:24

Foxhunt, Hagley Green

Harvester bar/restaurant, good food like all harvesters. Cant really rate as a pub, but deffo worth a viist.

1 May 2008 08:25

The Black Horse, Illey

Top pub, your in the country but in reality just 10 minutes drive from Northfield/Frankley. We drove out, had great food and good beer. Was a nice day but was Feb, Reckon a hot day this pubs beer garden will be well worth wiling away some time in, will probbaly leave the car at home ;-)

1 May 2008 08:23

The Dubliner, Digbeth

Never went in the Dubliner b4 the fire, howeva was very quick to try out and have been a dozen times since re opening. The bar staff are relly friendly and they do the best Guiness ive had in Birmingham. Can be rowdy if Small Heath have just played a game.

25 Apr 2008 10:43

Bohemian, Moseley

Message to bebeT

Rant begins

Re your comments below
"And in regard to the comments below stick to if your worried about prices you obviously don't earn enough thats the reason places like Metro bar, Shimla pinks, Tu Chai, New Bond Street and now the Junction do this to keep you out and away from people like me."
"single beautiful girls like me and my friends"

Get the hell out your own arse

Earn enough to drink here? Its just about value for money especially when your a lager/guiness drinker like myself. I dont mind paying top prices when the selection and quality is there, but what you have at the Juction is nothing unusual, standard booze at high prices and if your the kind of prententious person who is happy with this then I think many ppl will agree this is not the kind of bar worth visiting

Rant over

23 Apr 2008 10:01

The Man On The Moon, Kings Norton

Made my long awaited visit on Sat for sum lunch.
Pub is now Cornerhouse like the Hazelwell. And it looks quality inside and out. Dissapointed I never had a beer as was driving :-(

Service was excellent and food was great value
Will be back soon im sure

23 Apr 2008 09:11

Bohemian, Moseley

Now re-opened as The Junction.THEJUNCTIONMOSELEY.COM
Visited for a quick pint yesterday. Very smart inside and good service. No unusual beers though so might aswell go the wetherspoons and save yourself some dosh. On the other hand does open till 2am on Fri and Sat, just not sure what kind of music.?

26 Mar 2008 09:45

The Lickey Banker, Rubery

Been here twice, its my mates local boozer. Its a small pub that seems friendly enough I guess for a quick pint. Thats all though, a quick pint and then on the way to town

11 Mar 2008 11:45

The Dog Pool Hotel, Stirchley

Have not looked at the comments on this pub recently, however you can tell I disliked from my previos comment.I saw DRAHCIRSKIs comment and thought ill give another go. Yesterday me and 2 mates went here to play pool and have sum pub grub, and a group of chavs started fighting amongst themselves. And its exactly like berol describes below, the manager watching helplessly on and the staff just couldnt stop them. Staff seemed friendlir than previous visits.

25 Feb 2008 08:35

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

Budvar dark on draught is awesome.
Nice pub generally and always busy on my few visits.

7 Feb 2008 15:09

The Mountaineer, Kings Heath

Since moving locally to this pub and after reading the below comments I stayed away thinking YES it does look like the kind of place to have pics of dogs playing snooker.

Howeva did venture in once in December,
Has a pool table
Is generally clean and well looked after
Staff were friendly
Prices are average
Locals seem okay, no stares etc

Wud go bak but only if all my other locals are closed down

30 Jan 2008 12:17

The Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath

Agree totally with below comments, best pub in kings heath and for quite a bit around.

30 Jan 2008 12:07

, Digbeth

Cant complain when you walk in this grade 2 listed building and enjoy a nice cold pint. been good on my viists... Beer well kept and the pub has recently been awared as per comments below...recommended

The Crown, Birmingham

Have to reduce my rating from 6 to 4..
Went in here just after smoking ban and even though im a non smoker I wish the smell of smoke was back covering the stench of the toilets.
Come on sort it out!

18 Dec 2007 16:35

Cobbs, Birmingham

Comments below some up this pub perfectly. Have known about and walked past this place many times, never being tempted in.. Though this was where we paid a visit Friday just gone. Beer prices really good and pool tables 50p a go. No real ale but ok price on the Newcy Brown. Will probably be bak as on route from Arcadian to Digbeth.

Seaman Max

17 Dec 2007 12:29

O'Neills, Birmingham

Actually opened as a normal Wetherspoons, called the Dragon Inn. Very nice and now a lot more open between the 2 rooms. Beer decnt prices as all Wetherspoons and given the Arcadian area best value for Money. I like it however I will downgrade my rating to a 7 from a 8 as when this place was an Oneills it had music and a better atmosphere on the weekends. Seaman Max

17 Dec 2007 12:21

Adam and Eve, Digbeth

If anyone can post a schedule of upcoming music for this place then please blog on here or message me. Cheers, seaman max

12 Dec 2007 13:26

The Old Crown, Deritend

I visited the old crown for the first time in almost 2 years this previous saturday.
The pub was very busy. I was quite impressed with the range of clientele. Mixture of locals, young indy crowd and the occasional friendly chav. Service was good on my visit unlike review below from dirty panda. Though could easily be different on next viist.

12 Dec 2007 11:51

The Spotted Dog, Digbeth

This pub has been a recent addition to my regular stop off around digbeth. Good music on the night, awesome Pint of Guiness and good friendly atmosphere, one of those pubs where theres locals yet anyone is welcome... 7/10...

12 Dec 2007 11:46

The Wellington, Birmingham

After a couple of months not visiting the wellington, I decided to make it first stop on a pub crawl...

Well worth it as usual. I had a pint of ALElujah. Which was quality, in fact probably enjoyed it better than any other real ale ive tried. IMO

Will need to make sure viists arent restricted to once every months or so. Maybe just every time im in town :-)

12 Dec 2007 08:24

The Camp Inn, Kings Norton

Well the new owner has been here a couple of months and the place still dont do chip butties (sorry John) though generally impressed with service of beer and the quality every time i visit....now looking forward to 1pm when I can go the Camp and have a beer :-)

7 Sep 2007 10:55

Three Horseshoes, Stirchley

I do like this pub as a meeting place and for sports, My comment below was agreeing with previous comment as I had witnessed fights here and almost got tangled up in 1 myself, and to anon.. when i went past in my taxi heading home last saturday there were cops everwhere outside and fights kicking off outside, this was just past closing at 1, so i guess it neva went on inside so is a lovely pub

23 Aug 2007 15:33

Pear Tree, Kings Heath

Best thing bout moving from Northfield to Kings Heath, theres more pubs and especially when that includes a 'spoons', and a nice one. Good service on my few visits, good range of beers at good prices as expected. 7/10

27 Jul 2007 11:08

The Station, Kings Heath

Lived in Kings Heath 2 months now and made my 1st visit to the Station yesterday but only for 1 drink. Looked like a proper local with plenty of character.. will be back to have a few soon.

27 Jul 2007 11:07

Pennyblacks, Birmingham

This pub has gone up from a 6 to a 7 in my ratings after last visit. Cracking pint of Staropramen supped by the canal on a hot day.. will be back soon

25 Jul 2007 11:43

Hennesseys, Digbeth

Went here on Saturday 14th. Refurb has made this place look awesome, unfortunately they forgot to include a dance floor! Outside seating brill for smokers, and upstairs area open for a relaxing drink. We paid 3 to get in as entry charged after certain time. If you remember this place how it was you might be disapointed as run down hennesseys was wkd. Try for yourself.

19 Jul 2007 07:59

The S'oak, Selly Oak

I first visited this place in 2003. And it does not seem to have changed, chaviest pub in Selly Oak, always a few street corner asbo boys find there way in here...I only pay early eve visits to play pool etc when Pub Crawling the area, Friday nights used to be cool with decent DJs but last time I wet on a fri was 2004. Worth a try as this place is deffo for sum ppl, just not for others.

13 Jul 2007 11:07

Bristol Pear, Selly Oak

This pub usually is quite welcoming and a lot less crowded than the barrels, was in her last on sunday, the lager is flat like the barrels so some consistency. Smallest pool cue in the world(not a certified fact)...pub ruined for me by the fact I watched England lose to Portugual her last summer.

13 Jul 2007 11:00

O'Neills, Birmingham

The pub will be a JD Wetherspoons when it re-opens, maybe a lloyds no1 given the area

9 Jul 2007 08:10

The Bull Ring Tavern, Digbeth

Shocking little boozer opposite bull ring market, small and dingy...and poor service. Many better pubs not far away as you can see so avoid.

9 Jul 2007 08:09

The Sun on the Hill, Birmingham

Paid this pub a visit yesterday lucnh time.. expensive beer tho for sumwhere so quiet and during the week.. food was okay and 2 for 7.50 on the rump steak made this place worth the visit.. when in town reccomended for food, but beer at the Briar Rose and the Wellington(o yeah) so much better value for money
Seaman Max

6 Jul 2007 09:41

Yates's, Birmingham

Was ere for first time yesterday and was more than happy with service, and staff seemed friendly but then again it was my first time and i will probs agree with previous comments on my next visits...nice pint of heineken tho :-)

6 Jul 2007 09:38

Sobar Noodle Bar, Birmingham

This bar is cool and my fave in the arcadian centre. Very pricey but such a cool place and the music was accompanied by a sax player last time I was in here.

3 Jul 2007 16:31

Poppy Red, Birmingham

Smart bar and friendly service, upmarket feel about the place and the prices(unfortunately) but thats what you get in the heart of the Arcadian area, since Oneills closed all near by bars have high prices. Must say tho good lager selection here and nice crowd

3 Jul 2007 16:27

The Kerryman, Digbeth

This bar is prety cool on a Friday and Saturday night. Good music, free entry and 3am finish. Try the vodka slush :-) can be good drink when already very drunk. This was the final stop on our last pub crawl and we left around 3ish after enjoying the music and the beer..
I have been here on quieter nights and still friendly atmosphere... if your up town or in digbeth try for yourself.

3 Jul 2007 16:22

Malt House, Brindley Place

Went here for the first time on Saturday, was the best stop out our 10 pub crawl. Good beer, decent prices and my mate had sum food which looked good. Will be bak ere many times im sure

25 Jun 2007 08:43

Waxy O'Connors, Birmingham

I have been here maybe a dozen times, all on weekends. Very nice pub, friendly staff, decent drinbk offers on a few occasions. The music is good and generally play what you request. Is a good place to stop off for a pint when heading down broad st, however on a few occasions has been a good place to spend the night.
In my oppinion (tho I can understand the Plastic Paddy comment if aimed at Oneills) apart from the name its not really Irishy(if thats a word). Head down digbeth for proper Irish pubs, proper Irish party atmospeher and better beer

18 Jun 2007 08:51

The Figure of Eight, Birmingham

This pub is a cool place to wile away sum time, decent spoons and located in the middle of Brums most buzzing nitelife location. Cheapest beer on weekends to rest of Broad St

14 Jun 2007 17:08

The Brasshouse, Birmingham

Had a refreshing bottle of Corona in ere, very nice inside, dont go Broad St too much but worth making this place a regular watering hole when I do...

14 Jun 2007 17:04

The Briar Rose, Birmingham

have only used this place on a few occasions and I agree with below as one of the better 'spoons'. Good service, and good beer.. had a good ales list the othere day tho this is probably a one off festival, use the Wellington 2 mins up the Hill for Ale and all round better pub. Nice tho

12 Jun 2007 08:45

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Im not yet a fan of this place at all. Looks very nice from the outside and is generally clean etc inside which is something I have found in all ember inns, yet this place just seems like a squashed version...no open places which I like in pubs...its all tables and chairs which make it seem like a restaurant so it might as well be. Beer is ok and prices are same as all Ember Inns. The food is alright thoughh and not bad value just expensive compared to The Hazelwell which is much better and just 5 minutes walk down the road

5 Jun 2007 16:45

The Adventurers, Aston

Been here once, UP THE VILLA enough said

30 May 2007 09:43

The Hazelwell, Birmingham

top pub, carrying on from my previous review, very impressed, beer prices spot on. Pint of Black Sheep 2, and so is Carling .... Monday all day offers 1.49 Carling, Carslberg, Fosters and Worthingtons. Cheap and expansive looking menu. 16oz Steak for 6.45 looks worth a try. 7/10 and will get better

30 May 2007 08:59

The Hazelwell, Birmingham

reopens today after half a mil spent on refit, looked around inside on sat and seems good. I have just moved local to the hazelwell and will deffo try a pint at sum time this evenin. And from what i saw they had Black sheep ale on draught, a fave of mine in the bottle but will be worth a try. Cant rate it yet but early expectations are high

29 May 2007 16:34

All Bar One, Brindley Place

Nice pint of Staropramen, 2.90 is ok but not exactly the cheapest pint there is, expected up town and in Brindley Place. Good place but takes the edgy pub sting out of a crawl as this is place has a bar/cafe feel about it but worth going all the same.....

29 May 2007 13:41

Revolution, Birmingham

This place is known as Vodka Bar and only serves the purpose of vodka during a session. If out living it up on Broad St is a good stop off, and as im out for my mates b-day 2nite will be in here. Warning the Chili Vodka is a killer.

The Goose At The OVT, Selly Oak

Been coming here quite regulary for the last few years. Cant say a bad thing really. Its not the best pub but its certainly the cheapest. Great starter pub or even for a cheap session. Nice food at decent prices and good service. Its clean and rarely gets trouble so all in all 7/10

The Crown, Birmingham

Good laugh everytime I go here. Good mix of ppl. Often only stay fdor one or 2 whilst toruing about town. Was in here on Sat 12/5. Good early evening atmosphere and good lager. Still cheap Newcastle Brown ale. 6/10

O'Neills, Birmingham

Is closed?

15 May 2007 12:20

The Big Bulls Head, Digbeth

Was in here for first time in ages on Sat. Well a year anyway. Played sum pool and drank sum beer at a good price. Typical little pub where me and 3 mates enjoyed our time before moving onto the Kerryman next door and then Hennesseys to finish the night/early morn. Will be bak for a starter pint or 2 again. Handy for the Sanctuary/Bar fly next door.

The Lost and Found, Birmingham

I enjoyed this pub when i went for the first time on Sat. Only had 1 beer, a nice affordable pint of Staropramen. I have almost been in here on several occasions but i seem to prefer the wellington or the Briar Rose. Though i will be returning im sure. Me and my mate sat in the board room with creaky chairs and a coat hook which was cool and out the way of a crowded bar area. Mrbeerbelly is right about the toilets which seemed like a labrinth. good pub 6/10

The Gun Barrels, Selly Oak

CRAP BEER AND OVERPRICED WITHOUT YELLOW CARD.

Is great for watching football. Watched Liverpool win the Champions League in 2005 and watched England v Sweden and Ecuador at the world cup. Top atmospshere with singing and no trouble. During the Ecuador game they had outside bar serving bottled beers and a BBQ.

When i have been here on the evening i dont tend to enjoy this place. Cant explain apart from the before mentioned poor lager, which gives stomach cramps easily.

Reccomended for Sport but try the Goose at the OVT for nice beer at cheap prices.

The Tap and Spile, Birmingham

Nice pub with cool layout and right next to the canal. Decent prices considering just off Broad St. And always had a nice pint.

16 Apr 2007 14:44

The Shakespeare Inn, Birmingham

This place is a good pub, and the no smoking factor does not make this place empty. Although all pubs will be that way soon. Nice beer at decent prices considering city centre. Its a good pub to disapear in whilst shopping and good for a drink whilst on a crawl. Not tried the food but seems good prices and usual chain offers. 7/10

16 Apr 2007 08:49

Three Horseshoes, Stirchley

I AGREE WITH PREVIOUS COMMENT- CHAV CENTRAL THIS PLACE ON FRI AND SAT. IF YOU CAN LOOK AFTER URSELF THEN THIS IS A NICE PUB. NICE BEER AND DECENT SERVICE. HAVE NOT YET TRIED THE MENU BUT ALWAYS LOOKS GUD, WILL PROBABLY TRY THIS W/KEND B4 HEDIN UP TOWN. THE MUSICS GOOD AND DOES HAVE LATE BAR. POOL TABLES AND PLENTY OF FRUIT MACHINES WHICH ARE BROKEN AS THEY ONLY TAKE MY MONEY. RECCOMENDED BT WILL ONLY GIV 6/10

The Trocadero, Birmingham

Finally went in here on Sat. It was nice to dissapear from busy high street and into a proper looking pub.
The old management from the Brighthouse (Hill St) run this place and seems friendly and clean. Cant comment on night time as was only here for couple during day. Will go again whilst touring town.

12 Apr 2007 16:59

The Wellington, Birmingham

On Sat was having a all day session and could not help but visit The Wellington twice. Never had an ale on these visits but more than satisfied on previous visits. Drank Pure Czech lager.... top class, I like my lager and Pure Czech was awesome. And yes Mattyboy the pubcat is pure novelty!!!

If you live in Brum and like your beer then there is no excuse not to like this pub. Its a proper pub with proper drinks.

12 Apr 2007 16:54

The Newt and Cucumber, Birmingham

Firstly is this place not just called The Newt?
Everytime i go here i cant see a reference to Cucumber...This is the pub under the ramp isnt it??

For my review, i like the beer and great screens for watching sport.

Good service upon my visits but mainly due to large bar and empty seats.

6/10

12 Apr 2007 16:47

The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham

I like this pub. As pointed out in many reviews the interior is great, its clean and they pore a nice pint. Only downside is expensive, but hey what do you expect when they attract tonnes of office workers every lunch time and Friday eve. I visit from time to time when touring pubs up town which is a kinda hobbey. Will stretch to 6/10

4 Apr 2007 16:29

The Corner House, Birmingham

Its alright. Overpriced considering quiet even on a Friday night. Just had the one passing pint. Wanted to play pool but got a dirty look when I put a quid down. Will probably go again bcus at least you get served fast which says a lot for town. 5/10.......

4 Apr 2007 16:26

The Camp Inn, Kings Norton

New owners soon
lets see what its like.....
No chip butties for now so will not go so much

4 Apr 2007 15:14

The George and Dragon, Coleshill

Nice food, nice prices and friendly atmosphere, coleshil is a bit out the way for me being from South Brum. Always nice beer aswell, 7/10

3 Apr 2007 16:22

The Old Mill, Northfield

It has a pool table at 60p a go, thats the best feature. Nice beer garden so will be better on a sunnier day for sure. 3/10

2 Apr 2007 08:20

The Black Horse Hotel, Northfield

What can you say about this pub? At the end of the day 3 users have rated it, this is the first comment and thats only bcus im enjoying filling in some blank spaces on BITE.On the plus side its got beer at decent prices and they sell Newcy Brown Ale, and the spirits are good value. Now i cant put the whole bad side in but the clientele(regulars to u and me) are shady, the facilities etc are in shite condition, and the booze is not well kept. I have been in ere enuf and on nights(chavtastic) etc to have this opinion. I meet my mate ere b4 we go town as his close to where he gets off the bus and 5 mins from my house. But we agree its a deffo 1 pinter. Now my review hasd gone on a bit longer than expected, sorry bout that. 5/10

Chapter 2

I really am bored

30 Mar 2007 13:30

The Dog Pool Hotel, Stirchley

I like the fact the beer is cheap but this pub is a joke, not only does the Manager close the bar when he chooses so does the stuck up assistant manager, who speaks to customers and fellow employees as if they are scum, I was in there at 10.50 on Sunday, waiting at the bar as last orders is 11, there clock is fast and it did say 10.56.( it was definately 10 to 11 ) The barmaid said be with you in a second, and the next thing i know the assistant manager is closing the bar so he can pour himself a pint, he said its now gone 11. I said i was at the bar b4 11, and the barmaid agreed with me. He then dismissed her and still refused to serve me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PUB THEN MAYBE IT WILL HAVE TO IMPROVE

27 Mar 2007 09:04

The Navigation Inn, Kings Norton

I work in Kings Norton and have been going in this pub since Jan 06- so a while after previous review. Super probably is 12 so can only drink on Park benches. Or is just an alcoholic. This pub as a good atmosphere all round with good beer, wadsworth 6x and good value pub grub. Nice place for Family during day and nice mix of friendly people. On the night there never seems to be trouble, always new people and regulars so not too wild wild west. When footy is on there is a good atmosphere even to watch the scores wind in on Sky Sports News on a Saturday. Go there and you wont be disapointed.

22 Mar 2007 09:24

Gosta Green, Gosta Green

Best scream pub I have been in, although i can only compare to the Gun Barrels and the Bristol Pear(both in Selly Oak). The beer was better, and the service was faster than the Gun Barrels anyway, (the Pear is dead unless the footy is on). Will go back.

13 Mar 2007 08:12

Hennesseys, Digbeth

I think it was May 2006 when I first discovered Hennesseys. Me and 2 mates had been doing an accidental pub crawl after the first 2 pubs had crap beer so we moved on and then became restless so moved on and on. We arrived at Hennesseys about half 8, it was quiet with a dozen people, no music had started, so we jumped in a taxi to broad st, howeva the bouncer said come back b4 1.30am and you can stay till 4. This was on our minds so we did. And now we go at least once a month. Good DJ if Joe Pasquale is there, good beer, free entry and 4am finish. Class

12 Mar 2007 13:02

The Beeches, Northfield

This pub is terrible, glad its closed. Never been in as cant make it to the door, i think if you can make it to the door without being harrased by some jumped up kids who have 20 asbos and fall into the SCUM category then your probably SCUM anyway. Absolute Pond Life. Cant comment on the beer. Lets hope if it does reopen that they employ bouncers who are allowed to shoot SCUM, so then other people can enjoy the pub. As there is not many in Northfield.

9 Mar 2007 13:23

The Great Stone, Northfield

A nice pub when its warm enough to sit in the beer garden, I had the day off yesterday and for a little while the sun was shining. Me and my brother walked down and both ad a nice cold pint of beer. The pub itself looks nice both outside and in. Not sure about the crowd on the evening but there are worse. 6/10

9 Mar 2007 13:19

The Old Hare and Hounds, Rednal

Nice food, nice day time pub and always busy. Had a couple of nights in there and enjoyed the atmosphere so not bad, bit pricey for Rednal, but then again the Oak Tree is expensive and the beer is not as good 7/10

6 Mar 2007 09:35

Toad At Bullring, Birmingham

Not my favourie pub by a long shot, however when they have them in stock, the big cigars are nice. The beer is poor though and Fosters is the only affordable lager which says it all doesnt it?

5 Mar 2007 16:18

The Camp Inn, Kings Norton

Nice Chip Butties, ask my mate John, he has one every day.And they get better. Friendly staff though they dont like the French. Nice lunchtime pub, and top Carling. Spot On

5 Mar 2007 16:15

O'Neills, Harborne

As all Oneills, nice beer and good atmosphere, bit pricey compared to the harbourne stores but then again 3 times the atmosphere.

5 Mar 2007 16:05

The Selly Park Tavern, Selly Oak

Had a top night in there last night, has to chuck us out at the end as was having a great laugh. Came close on the quiz with 43 points, winner got 45, reccomend this pub to anyone. Nice clean facilities, nice beer and a rugby themed real ale every week it seems, last week we had dirty tackle and this week it was swing low. Serves food till 9 as well. 8/10
