The Newshouse, Nottingham

We sailed into here last Saturday (although we have been here before). Nice ale selection and friendly staff. Baguettes were very nice! Pub was clean.

King William IV, Nottingham

Although a little dubious about the caged windows, we ventured in and were pleasantly surprised. A nice mix of clientele and a good selection of real ale. Ordered a couple of pints and cobs and sat in the garden - which was very nice for what limited space they have. Will defintely go back.

The Salutation Inn, Nottingham

We sailed into this pub last Saturday to be greeted by a load of chavs shouting. So we ordered up and then went into one of the snugs - which unfortunately smelt like 'old mens hats'. Just because this pub is ancient, doesn't mean the cleaning regime has to be! The beer wasn't too brilliant either.

The Black Lion, Scarborough

No real ale but were made to feel very welcome, the pub dog is a must, the lack of real ale was offset by the real dog! it was like drinking in the 70's when you used to get old slow frendly pub dogs of indiscriminate breeding.

The Ship, Scarborough

Very clean pub, pity about the lack of hand pumps, it was warm and welcoming on a cold and miserable day.

Lord Rosebery, Scarborough

It's a Spoons, what more can I say, the beers were Ok but on my visit there was a desperate need for a plumbers visit to the gents piss corner, hopefully this is not an ongoing problem.

North Riding Hotel, Scarborough

The beers on offer were in excellent condition, just as I've come to expect from Stewart and you must try the food. Great pub.

The Commercial, Scarborough

Pleasantly suprised in the quality of the two beers on offer, the pub was clean and the single member of staff was very attentive although a bit rushed off his feet.

The Angel Inn, Scarborough

Beer end of the barrel (hopefully) a very nice clean pub, I like this pub and will visit again. The smoking area is very good, warm and tidy(it was cold the day of our visit) bistro style aluminium chairs offset by a chrome shopping trolly, different!

Ye Olde Dolphin Inn, Derby

The Dolly may be the oldest pub in Derby but that is no excuse for gentlemens toilets that smell like a midden or are they trying to go for the 16th century theme pub? If so please make the prices reflect that (as in a groat for a pint) while on the price of beer, hey they don't all carry flintlocks and wear tri-corn hats do they!!

The Royal Oak, Chesterfield

We visited this pub earlier this year, not long after the new landlord took over. We were thoroughly impressed with the surroundings and beer quality and overall friendliness of the pub. We have been back on many occasions and it never fails to impress. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. We just hope that this pub goes from strength to strength as we are sick of seeing minimalistic, laminate floored pub chain uniformity!

The Old Silk Mill, Derby

We strongly recommend this pub if ever you are in Derby. The beer is always excellent - theres something for everyone and unlike before the pub doesn't stink of chips!

The Crompton Tavern, Derby

Always entertaining, beer always in excellent condition. This pub is unique as it also hosts ever changing art exhibitions. Worth a visit to check out the juke box which has the strangest mixture of music we've ever seen ranging from cool jazz to death metal with a little bit of classical in between and ska and punk etc etc.

Devonshire Arms, Burton-Upon-Trent

Theres a new landlord & landlady at the Devvie now. Nicki and Carl are a hard act to follow, but Kev and Tracey are doing very well. The beer quality is excellent and the pub is very clean. We can't believe that this pub was omitted from the Good Beer Guide this year - maybe political??

The Burton Bridge Inn, Burton-Upon-Trent

We can clarify the previous comment re: Lea29. The Bridge now has a new landlord and the atmosphere is much friendlier. The beer is always tip-top and pork pies are always available. We recommend the ploughmans lunch too.
