This is a fairly typical Wetherspoons pub in terms of frontage and layout - not a complaint, just an observation. Plenty of ales to choose from at the bar, including a chalk board listing the Christmas ales selection. I went for a pint of the Festive Thirty Five by Titanic Brewery, at 5.0% and priced at £2.45. It was quite cloudy when settled and quite hoppy. Very pleasant and of course an absolute bargain. Staff I found to be friendly and chatty. Shame I couldn't stay and sample all the ales! A good Wetherspoon's pub within tottering range of my accommodation. Had final pints & dinner on both days I was in Scarborough, Bombardier @ 2.20 on day one to wash down a pretty good hot dog. My notes on day two suggest the pint was "mystery", not sure if that was a brand or a brain fade. Anyhow it was OK with a steak. While I would never consider a session in a Wetherspoon's, their consistent offerings are a boon for tourists without imagination. Like me. Queenslander - 5 Sep 2014 00:35 |
Not too bad of a Witherspoons. Food OK, staff a bit grumpy. Manager did nothing to stop a couple of deadlegs constantly pestering customers for money. DrHeadstone - 14 Jul 2014 19:08 |
We had a disagreement with one of the bar staff who insisted that food finished at 10.45 and not 11 as it states on the posters, so we left and went for a curry! mcroyal - 5 May 2014 23:15 |
Popped in while waiting for a train - must have been 7-8 ales on the go (how many pubs in Scarborough offer that and at those prices?). I had Wooden Hand Cornish Knocker which was well kept and very drinkable. kernott1 - 14 Sep 2012 21:20 |
