The owners here are seriously passionate about beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. Beers on 28th May 2017 were Robinsons Dizzy Blonde, Titanic White Star and two from the Beartown brewery in Congleton, Man up and my favourite, a top notch Peach flavoured ale called Peach Melbear. The latter is seriously recommended and among the best I have tried (Even up there with my number one Cleopatra from the Derventio Brewery. Chic and trendy, but in a good pub way!

An impressive building on a corner on the main through-fare, The Oakwood catches the eye and oozes the charm of bygone days. The Front and side is nearly all floor to ceiling window, with traditional lamps hanging down on the inside. I don’t know the history of this place, but believe it has recently had a make-over, giving the interior a real period feel. You almost feel at times you are in a friend’s house than a pub. Now the important bit; the beer is excellent both in choice and quality, the staff polite and the whole pub friendly and welcoming. Robinsons Double Hop, Unicorn and the excellent Dizzy Blonde, along with there White label porter, with a rich, malty taste @ ABV 5.0%, along with many craft lagers, inc. Blue Moon. Give it a go...

Has had a heavy makeover in fairly minimalist style. Nonetheless good separate drinking areas, comfortable and Robinson's ales - including the tasty stout - in fine condition. 8/10.

Called in the Oakwood last night, the first chance since the pub was given a full on makeover. The beers from Robinsons are still on good form, especially the double Hop. However, the pub has gone for the trendy wine bar look - with slate tiles and textured wallpaper. It was rammed so must be doing something right!

Was closed for refurbishment late in 2014. Re-opened with an Olde Americee look seemingly targeted at the types who would otherwise traipse to Mcr city centre.
