The second pub I tried in Corbridge was the Black Bull. It's a Greene King pub and at least the prices were more reasonable here than in the nearby Angel. Ales were Belhaven Golden Bay, Morland Old Golden Hen, Greene King IPA & Up The Wall Landlord's Choice. Had a mixture of local drinkers and diners. But was fairly quiet on this weekday afternoon. There is a tight car park at the rear, approached by an equally narrow passageway.

Its a mile from the station!!! Gorgeous from the outside, dark and cosy but spacious inside. Food is a little expensive (not too unusual in this village though) and well kept real ale from 4 hand pulls is on offer.

Pleasant enough interior - beer choice limited but Black Sheep (not again!) good. Highlight was local BBC News person Carol Malia dropping in - isn't she wonderful?*! Sorry - nothing to do with this site!!

Used to be great (mid-late '90's). Not so good now. Some staff good, some staff awful.

We stopped in here for supper and a couple of pints, and found the place to be much more of a gastro-pub than we'd expected. The beer was good and the barman quite friendly, but the food was mediocre for a standard pub, and not very good at all for a gastro. The meat dishes were just okay, and one of the ordered dishes, a vegetable pie, was still frozen in the center. As there was no staff to be found once we'd been served there wasn't a lot we could do about it.

The selection of drinks wasn't terribly exciting, but they seemed in good condition. Just don't go in expecting a culinary experience or exceptional range and you'll enjoy the place's friendly air.
