Its more than 0.1 of a mile from the station!! I agree with previous comments regarding the up market lounge area and the gastro pub feel of the bar area. It could not be described as a locals bar, there are others nearby, but it is a fine building with a pleasant sitting out area to the front and it serves very well kept real ales from 6 hand pulls. The local Allendale brewery is well represented.

The first port of call on a rail crawl to Carlisle it was surprisingly busy for 11.30am on a thursday. Handily placed for the station this place is large and very well appointed inside and has a large and pleasant outdoor seating area should the weather permit. An extensive menu is available and 4 hand pulled real ales are on offer from larger national brewers.

The Black Bull, Corbridge
Its a mile from the station!!! Gorgeous from the outside, dark and cosy but spacious inside. Food is a little expensive (not too unusual in this village though) and well kept real ale from 4 hand pulls is on offer.
