Well sited Wetherspoons on the quayside with two storey eating and drinking accommodation. Now known as The Quay, standard Wetherspoons interior and food offering. As suggested by previous reviewers there are only four or five real ales on here which is low for a Wetherspoons. Bar staff are friendly and clientele appear to be generally more presentable than the usual dole queue scroungers / drunks / smelly old men etc drinking Guinness at 8am as can be found in many of this chain's establishments.
Well located for a couple of pints to slake one's thirst after a day walking round the particularly dry Brownsea Island - the ferry docks opposite the pub!

Now called the Quay. As the name suggests, this Wetherspoon is located on the quayside. The pub is very deep but the bar is relatively small. It had only 5 real ales on the bar, the least I have ever seen at a Wetherspoons. The beer I chose Sunset Red was very good. Plenty of seating and fairly comfortable.
Slight head-way on the beer front from my previous visit. Highland's, Scapa Special, Boondoggle, 49er and the usual Ruddles and Abbot.
Lovely ice cold cider on hot day. Nice place good setting.
Below par on the beer front with 4 out of 5 being boring standard offerings and one a bit more adventurous. We ate and would have stayed longer but the lack of beer choice ensured we moved on.
This has got to be the best pub on Poole Quay, when compared to some of its other overpriced, ostentatious neighbours. The 5 or so real ales are normally served in excellent condition at an affordable price, especially when compared to the exorbitantly priced vinegar normally served up in the nearby Lord Nelson.

Not a bad boozer great for watching the bike nights, better than the shit hole in dover.
A much pleasenter pub than The Lord Wimbourne. Great views accross the harbour. A large double deck pub which has just had new toilets and a part refurb. Beers were good, no problems there for us, and they were all on. Different type of punters here, and not so full. Nice small beer garden on the front on a summers day were you can watch the multy million pound playboy yatchs being built at Poole quay. Nice!
Don't come here for the beer. 5 handpumps on the bar. One had the usual 'coming soon' label, three others were the normal spoon regulars - Greene King crap. That left one guest ale, Goffs Jouster - not that good to want a second pint. Sit upstairs, it is brighter than below. Well, it is if you sit near the window.
Was here over the weekend, had a decent pint of Fortyniner, and sat outside watching all the tourists in their strange summer clothes. This Spoons is far better than the Lord Wimborne up the high street
Tip - use the bar upstairs, you get served quicker and use the Loos upstairs, they smell much cleaner.

I actually like this pub a lot and for a Wetherspoons I love it. (try the 8 bells in Dover and you would understand). We come to Poole twice a year for the bike nights and there is nowhere we would rather be. The plastic galsses mean we can buy cheap and wander amongst the bikes. Cheaper by far than the other two pubs, also had great views of Brownsea Island.

went in twice during my stay in poole a large pub with seating area.on the first vist mid october late afternoon the weather was good for that time of year so was able to sit outside and looked at the quay area, the pint of ringwood old thumper was of good quality and taste. i thought one of bettet jd pubs

The building is a pleasant wharehouse conversion with large upstairs and small outside area. I have found the ale selection here to be a bit poorer than that at the Wimborne. Could be so much better

Brilliant in a bad way, or so bad it's good perhaps. I've visited some bad Spoons (as well as good) in an attempt to unload the CAMRA coupons, but this is a classic. Firstly the beer, rubbish and uninspiring, then the Staff, snap. Now the best bit, we witnessed probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen in a Spoons. There was a fully blown Wedding Reception going on in the back, the Bride & Groom were at the head of a group of tables gathered together at the back end of the pub and the cake was in front of them. There were urchins dashing around as they always do at receptions and the food was being micro waved by the Staff, seemingly at their usual pace. Not wanting to intrude, we moved upstairs, but really I wanted to stay on for the speeches, the lager seemed to be going down well, although perhaps 10 pints of wifebeater might be an inappropriate order. Good luck to them in the future and I hope their lot improves. Priceless.

A hidden gem on Poole Quay! If you forget it's a Wetherspoons with the usual slow service and microwaved food etc, you can go upstairs and have reasonably priced drinks while taking in fantastic views of Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour.
With the neighbouring pubs jacking their prices up yet again to almost unaffordable prices, this place does have its attractions. Some brilliant real ales on tap at times which makes a change from the overpriced ubiquitous Ringwood Best which nearly everywhere else seems to serve. Nice to be able to buy a couple of pints for less than 4 after being ripped off in the Lord Nelson for 2 pints of dishwater.
In line with the decline of Poole nightlife, this place was all but empty at 8pm on New Years Eve. There were three guest ales on, two from the local Ringwood brewery, but the Fortyniner was served so cold that frankly, I could have been drinking anything. The interior is of the typical Wetherspoons style and is notable only for the vast amount of (often empty) space afforded by the large traditional front area, rear lounge section and upstairs bar. Probably best appreciated in the summer with a few tourists making up the numbers and the possibility of sitting out on the Quay.

Had a really good meal, all 3 of us, with great drinks at a clean table. Only hassle was had to replace the cutlery as it had dried food on it!
Better than the weatherspoons in the High Street, but thats like saying Leporsey is better than AIDS...big selection of ale although all completley ruined by the incompetant staff..some who were coversing about how they were going to "kick someones head in" before one of them served me. Usuall hospital standard weatherspoons food...
Greatly improved in here, tables are cleared and wiped down frequently. There is still a painful wait for drinks though, particularly if the people in front of you all want bloody coffee and my usual gripe about the real ales being too cold still applies.
Once you get used to the plastic glasses it's quite pleasant typical spoons feel to it and of course the obligatory cheap drinks which never fails to impress
Typical spoons pub in a nice location for sitting outside on summers evenings.
Two "Spoons" in Poole - this is the better one. A limited selection of chilled real ales (cheap, though) for a Wetherspoons. Don't order food if you're going to catch a bus! The grub is the usual Wetherspoons fare, but I've waited for an hour on two occasions for my order to arrive... Not great.
Have got mixed feelings about this place. The real ales are normally in excellent condition, albeit too cold, and cheap. Service is often dismally slow-there never seems to be enough bar staff on. Tables remain stacked with dirty plates and glasses for hours on end. Due to the low prices the pub tends to attract the lower end of the local clientele. If you like microwaved food, this place is for you-only steaks etc are cooked fresh-you may as well buy yourself a Billy-no-mates meal from Iceland for 1 and microwave it yourself in 8 minutes rather than waiting up to an hour for it to be 'nuked' in this pub when it's busy!
The service is a bit slow at busy times and the up-keep of clearing the tables could be better. The food has improved but was disappointed that the price of the wine on tap has gone up dramatically from just a few weeks ago.
Not the worst Spoons in the area (that soubriquet goes to the Lord Wimborne) but the ales are kept too cold, the service is slow and table clearing only happens occasionally. Good points are the usual Spoons prices and a relatively benign clientele.
Lovely looking interior to this building with an upstairs and downstairs bar, great ale selection.9/10 Only thing that slightly let us down was the speed of service.
Another dreadful weatherspoons chain pub. I ordered two breakfasts here one morning, which came to over 10 including coffee and Orange juice plus an extra charge for TOAST!!!. Sausages seemed to be of the low quality catering variety, and the egg was undercooked. I wouldn't venture back here again.
What a crap pub! nough said.
It's a shame that such a historical building be used for such a unkept pub! Visited for food at about 5pm on New Years Day and every single one of the tables outside were stacked high with dirty coffee cups. Which, I hasten to add were there when we passed at about midday! Food was ok though and the drinks are cheap so i suppose that counts for something.

Went there New Years Day (I know - but it was a hair of the dog) The queue for the beer was long (1 barstaff) The queue for coffee was as bad (1 barstaff) For food I was told there would be a 45 minute wait (1 chef) We decided to just veg out in there and wait for the food, the food took an hour in the end
Had there been anywhere else open that would do a fry up on New Years Day, I would probably have asked for my money back and gone there. Was half cut again by the time the food turned up

went there just before 4 o clock, so not the busiest time of day. Asked for the table to be cleaned 3 times was eventually done.Ordered the roast got told there was no chicken sowould be turkey instead, when came to the table it was chicken. When ordered the deserts told they would be 10 minutes after asking several members of staff what was the delay finally got fed up and asked for our money back, which was given with out a fuss.I,ve been to Witherspoons many times ,but after this experince it will be along time until the next time.A word of warning the heating doesn,t work and i hasn,t worked since before christmas

The recent beer festival saw me in here to sample the real ales, they had 3 running & all were nice (the Hobgoblin particularly so) We decided to head off to the Lord Wimborne to see if they were running any different ones. DISASTER!! - goto the Lord Wimborne page to see my thoughts on that, suffice to say we returned to The Quay pdq
Big barn of a place and it looked like they had been keeping horses in there. Tables were grubby and not wiped down and tables weren't cleared. Because of the cheap prices this place seemed to attract the chavvy pikey dregs of poole when i went in here on a sunday afternoon. The beers were excellent i had one of my favourites the ringwood this place just needs a clean and a much better clientelle the wetherspoons in bournemouth is so much better why are some wetherspoons better than others.
Massive pub with some very good ales at astoudingly good prices. All somewhat ruined by serving them too cold, being a bit of a real ale purist I challenged the manager on it once and he curtly informed me that the celar was EXACTLY the correct temperature (guess thats too cold then)

Probably one of the worst pubs on the Quay. It's not terribly bad in itself, only it is always packed and it is a Wetherspoons, so apart from the prices, I would go to one of the others.
Plus it would help if the foreign barmaids in here actually served what you asked for

Been to this pub a few times now. It's a vast place on 2 floors and always seems to be fairly busy. Must be one of the cheapest pints on the quay and the punters reflect that, usually heaving on Tuesdays with the bikers on the quay. Usual Wetherspoons food (do wish they'd stop using oven chips) have had the steak a few times and it's pot luck if it's cooked as you asked for it. Well appointed with flat screens for sports fixtures. The gents on the ground floor are tiny for the size of pub, suggest you use the ones upstairs. Small outdoor seating area.
