This one's history now. I remember it back in the '70's when I worked on the Kentish Independent newspaper - Christ, did we put some money over the counter!

The Eagle, Shooter's Hill

Been in here a couple of times recently, last time new year's day at lunchtimes. It's now almost completely refurbed. The landlord was friendly enough and he seems to be making a real effort. They have themed evenings, live music etc. and do food.

My local since I abandoned the White Swan, the other pub in the village in desperation. Lee and Bernie run a good pub and the bar staff are always friendly and helpful. I've never had any problems here. Service always quick, even on match days.

RogerB's review is still accurate but the paint smell has gone. I stopped using the place early this year because of a lack of heating and foul toilets. Maybe it's improved now - I hope so but somehow I doubt it!!!

Visited here 06/09/06. Took part in the W.A.N.Q quiz!. Really friendly pub with decent beer. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Pity we didn't win the quiz but at least we were runners-up!! Try this place if you're in Romsey.
