Visited in daytime. Good beer, Bombardier and Youngs. Lunch good. friendly crowd. Lots of Charlton Athletic memorabilia.
The charming barmaid Valerie ran the show.

Oh Lord. Been a long time since I even throught about looking at someone in the wrong way in a pub, and I'm a fairly amiable chap who'll drink pretty much anywhere. Luckily I was with Australians (including my girlfriend) so rough wasn't a problem ;) Beer (Bombardier) was fine. It's a bit of a pit, and the loos are abysmal. Shame - could be a nice pub. The sepia prints of Charlton FC point to a happier time when football wasn't automatically accompanied by thugs and idiots.

I think the sign on the telly said it all: "LEGAL Sky/Setanta costs £[thousands] per year. You are required to purchase two drinks when sport is being shown. If you don't like it, p*ss off to another pub where they like showing sport for free." O-kaay!

Been drinking in here pre-match since about '94, but no longer. One of the reasons to go the Bugle was back room with big screen, but this is no longer open so its the Oak from now on.

Gone radically downhill. The toilets ought to be condemned - overflowing urinals, peeling paintwork, no paper. no doors on the cubicles at the gents' down the rear. The landlord is always drunk and frequently abusive especially late in the evenings. Don't even think about if on match days if you're not a Charlton fan, and even if you are, it's only a solution in desperation as the other pubs near the Valley (Royal Oak, Coach and Horses) have closed. The Antigallican serves away fans but has no real ale and a fairly clinical atmosphere. The White Swan in Charlton village is not the world's best pub either but the landlord is friendly and it has beer on match days. Best of a bad bunch.

The Bugle is well worth a visit and everyone is very friendly. Whether it is a Charlton / Millwall pub and with regards to the comments on 6th March 2007 I would have thought that all of the barmaids should be less covered up. This way the punters will forget how badly their team plays!!
