The Lord Wimborne, Poole

Turn around ........Walk out...

Spotted Cow, Poole

Was here over the weekend, had a decent pint of Fortyniner, and sat outside watching all the tourists in their strange summer clothes.
This Spoons is far better than the Lord Wimborne up the high street

Tip - use the bar upstairs, you get served quicker and use the Loos upstairs, they smell much cleaner.

The Pulpit Inn, Portland

Horse and Farrier Inn, Threlkeld

I have nothing negative to say about this Pub.

We stayed one night(should of stayed a week!) at the end of August. It was a great experience. Comfortable room and loads of hot running water, just what we needed after wandering round the lakes all day.

A couple arrived after us while we were sitting in the bar on our second pint of Ale, after 10 minutes they came back to reception saying they would like to move rooms as theirs was too small.....i wanted to say to them..Erm....This is a 17th century Inn with loads a character, What did you expect?...if you want a huge room try a characterless Travel inn..
Our room was fine....at the end of the day it's for sleeping in and getting washed and changed in....you are not expected to live in it all day. There is a bar and restaurant downstairs to relax in, failing that, there is the whole bloody Lake District outside the front door....Oops, sorry for the rant.

This Dog Friendly Jennings pub has a great selection of Real Ales on, Along with the Jennings Ales was a couple of guests Ringwood Showmans Tipple and Marstons seasonal....i tried a few that day and night..All were in tip top condition, so well done on that.

The food....Wow! there was plenty of it. After a starter and their speciallity Lamd Shoulder, It was that tender the meat just fell off the bone. I had no room left for dessert! The staff were very polite and friendly, they were always on the lookout to see if we needed anything without being intrusive.
One member of staff stood out for us, Didn't get his name, he was the Carribean Lad. We arrived mid afternoon and were greeted by his big smile, the whole time we were in the bar he was constantly working, never standing around and always smiling, Our evening meal, he was still working (and smiling). Always making sure diners had everything they needed.

Looking forward to my return soon!!

Six months on with the new team at the helm. I thought id give it a visit again.
And once again i was not dissapointed.

The 49r was superb! Well Done!

As for the Food...Well what can i say?
The Chef is a talented Young Man.
His Homemade Lamb and Mint Pie served with Handcut Chips was spot on.
If you haven't been here yet..get over it's worth the trip

i'm back on Friday for the Live Music...Can't wait!

Bridge Inn, Grinton

Travelled back to my home turf from Dorset to visit family. Decided to go to the Brigde Inn for lunch and a pint.

Couldn't believe it......Walked into the Pub and found Ale from my local brewery, Ringwood Best! But i fancied a change and went for the Jennings Cumberland..Lovely pint.

Bar was warm and welcoming, by the look of the bar, there is an everchanging selection of Real Ales on offer.....Fantastic

Food was delicious and reasonably priced, i could have stayed there all day. But..... Alas .....had to visit the parents and the outlaws!

It's great to see that Marstons take over hasn't affected these country pubs and swamped the with their own Ales..

The Crown, Winterborne Stickland

Just changed hands....Food back on the Menu at last!

All four Ale pumps are back on the go serving Ringwood Best, Fortyniner, Boondoggle and Old Thumper. I had the Boondoggle , it was superb!

At last it looks like this Pub has people running it that know what they are doing! i can't wait to see what is in store for this place

Tan Hill Inn, Keld

Used to travel up from outside Richmond to visit this place. I loved its remoteness, it's warmth and charm.
Sadly moved away to Dorset for work. Always said i'd visited the Pub whenever i come up to visit Family.
taken me 20 years to get back to the pub, but i wasn't disapointed, it still has that certain something. Great place, warm, friendly, fine food with Theakstons and Black sheep the stuff i was weaned on!
you can't get better than this!

The Baker Arms, Child Okeford

great little friendly pub. great Ringwood Ales and 2 good ciders. food is reasonably price and tasty, beware they don't take cards!...bring cash. or you may find yourself rummaging in the gents urinal...which doubles up as a wishing well!!

26 Mar 2008 16:04

The Dolphin, Blandford Forum

Has to be the best pub in Blandford. It has a fantastic selection of ever changing real ale.
i love all the mish mash of furniture, it gives it heaps of character.
From day one of visiting the pub, both myself and my dog have been given a warm welcome.
As for the food..it's great. It's under priced for it's quality..try the Chef's homemade Italian burger, topped with mozzerella cheese and red onion served with spicey wedges for less than a fiver!

The Fleetsbridge, Oakdale

I've worked in the pub trade on and off for about 24 years. I used to work in this pub about 18 years ago when my father ran it.
Last weekend i thought i'd pay a visit to it to see how it changed...Downhill is my thought.
Even before i got inside, i was less than happy, i had parked my car in a bay, one of four half taken by overflowing wheelie bins....and RATS!
Once i got in there it took a while to get served, the bar wasn't that busy. the staff seemed to be in thir own little world, looking for guidence from the a wall in front of them.
Finally got a pint and went and sat down in a corner,to quietly enjoy it, but it wasn't up to the required standard i would expect from a bitter.
Half way through my pint i was approached by a man and asked if i would remove my hat as the cameras couldn't see my face. by this point i was ready to leave, i'd had enough.

what annoyed me the most was being asked to take my hat off,
if i was an elderly gentleman in a cap..would he ask me to take it off?....probably not.

if i was a lady wearing a hat.. would he ask me to take it off?....probably not.

if i was someone suffering from cancer wearing a hat..would he ask me to take it off?....probably not.

if i was muslim woman wearing a face veil..would he ask me to take it off?....not a chance!

So, why me? why was i discriminated against?

So my message to the manager.
sort out a fenced off area for the bins..first impressions count.
Wake up the staff, make them earn their money.
keep the beer tip top.

and carefull on policies, because one day you may be accused of discrimination.
