Tried this place out whilst staying at the excellent Hedges Farm Cottages down the road. Small two-bar pub with the front bar mainly for food. Friendly locals and and three very friendly pub dogs which they let out into the back bar late in the evening. Decent beer, and the one meal we had there was good. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Tried the pub out for it's winter preview menu night on 11th November. Really good food and fantastic value. As a result very busy which meant service a bit slow but worth the wait. There are various "speciality evenings" during the week, e.g. 2-4-1 steak nights on Mondays (prices already good anyway), Italian nights, curry nights, etc. etc. Excellent pint of Ringwood's best. Other Ringwood beers on offer too. Lovely old pub. Log burner in big inglenook. Front "bar" area primarily for eating but can drink in rear bar. Despite living only a few miles away for the last couple of years this was our first visit but certainly not our last. Highly recommended.

I have always liked this pub although I don't get out much but when we went for lunch today (last Friday before Xmas !) the place was deserted and the fire was unlit and the heating was off. Despite this we stayed for lunch as we had phoned and booked. Our main courses were nice and the chap in the kitchen can obviously cook, but there was a slight unloved air about the place and they ran out of cola (yes I have children, it wasn't for me) while we were there, then when we came to order pudding there were no puddings ! This kind of spoilt things for us as it was a special meal and we felt that they could have warned us when we booked.
They said that they were not doing puddings at the moment. There was no manager around and I got the feeling that the staff were messed about so I bit my tounge a bit and paid the bill though paying so much to eat in a cold pub that then does not let me order a pud did rankle a bit.
Hubby wonders if place is being run down in order to sell for private house ?

Was about to drive past but decided to pop in for a quick one. For a Sunday lunchtime it was surprisingly empty. The menu looked good and smelled appetising but as we were en-route we opted for a quick pint - Ringwood - very pleasant. Nice village pub in a lovely olde English village. Pleasant beer garden and we spotted two plates of previous diners - one cleaned up, the other with the food hardly touched. Intrigued to want to go back next time we are in the vicinity.
