Doctors Orders, Nottingham

A nice place for a good beer and general lack of lunatics. The ordering system and specialised beer range will not be for everybody, but its a great place for a chat and a well cared for pint.

The Fox and Crown, Basford

nice food, if a tad overpriced, but the beer is really poor. The Alcazar beers, being always warm, old and with a dodgy smell, are a real let down. Thank god they're generally confined to this place.

Cucamara, Nottingham

Utter crap - but hilariously funny if you're prepared to roll with it and drink enough long island iced teas , and pretend you're in some nice NYC cocktail lounge.
Possibly where a vast number of the local kids were conceived.

Trent Navigation, Nottingham

I really love this place in the summer - sitting out by the locks watching the boats. Decent beer too.
Should be a lot more popular than it is - buts it's off the beaten track.

The Cock and Hoop, Nottingham

Always a bit of nice respite from the meat markets of the Lace Market. Always a couple of decent ales on too boot.
Menu slimmed right down nowadays, and if you dont eat steak, youre kinda stuck.

Has an atmosphere a bit like a funeral wake though, so dont go in there to party.

Canal House, Nottingham

Great in the summer - truly one of the best canalside beer gardens in the area.
Bit so and so if you take that out of the equaiton though.

The Keans Head, Nottingham

Before we even get onto the bber - you MUST dine here. Simply one of the best places to eat in town, and that includes the restaurants!

Ever changing selection of brews, and a good bottle selection cover all the bases. Young, friendly staff ensure a pleasent stay.

The Cock and Hoop, Nottingham

Good show all around. Like stepping back into a more civilised era. Limited beer choice, but well looked after.
Menu used to be very good, but now seems to be limted to variations on steak. Still, always a relaible meeting point and guarnateed friendly service.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

Truly Nottingham's (if not the UKs) mosy overhyped pub. This tourist trap serving ever so average tasting beers seems to always make it into the guide, as anyone who dared speak bad of it would be accused of heresey and burned at the stake. I can think of practically no worse place in Nottingham to enjoy an evening.

On the plus side, it brings in crowds of tourists who line Nottingham Council's coffers via their tax. You are paying for my trash collection, and road improvments, and it serves you right you fools!

The Approach, Nottingham

This place realy does offer something to everyone. From cocktails, ales, decent lagers and a good menu. It manages to pull it all off without being too towney!
Great comedy nights from time to time!

The Bentinck Hotel, Nottingham

I love this palce purely for its seediness. A welcome change if heading back to the station after being forced at gun-point to the lace market bars.

The Newshouse, Nottingham

great beer, though sometimes dodgy-esque local clientele not giving the warmest of welcomes.

King William IV, Nottingham

Definately one not to miss on a serious ale crawl. Despite being a 5min trot out of town, and not accepting cards (nb-carrying large wads of cash in this part of town is not reccomended...unless buying heroin there of course) rewards greatly.

A nice mix of people as well - all ages welcome at this true no nonsense pub.

Tantra, Nottingham

what a pretentious dump - shuld be burned down. Preferably with anyone who rated it >5 locked in.

Newmarket Inn, Nottingham

Nice and clean thanks to a well needed deep clean. Though Im a real fan, this place only keeps 1/2 on - though in generally good condition.

No, the real draw for this place is for a spot of people watching on the weekend, where you have prime view of Nottingham's finest pish-heads staggering into that shit-hole 'Oceane over the road.

The Lion, New Basford

Still one of may pubs in town - well worth the tram ride out of the centre. Seems to have survived being taken over, beer range seems to have shrank a bit though.
Stunned this isnt in the good beer good, compared to some of the total piss-holes they did include!

12 Sep 2009 18:42

The Moot, Sneinton

Used to be great, and kept the beer at its best. Something's been going down lately though. Beer now of much lower quality, and tendancy to play "the greatest hits of utter shite dance 1994" during the day.

The Railway Inn, Mansfield

brilliant - one of the few places in Mansfield Town where you wont get stabbed. Small risk of being talked to death by drunken oldsters though.
