Devonshire, Balham

The pits - the only good point is the naff furnishing and the pretentions of being the american bar at the savoy will soon ware thin as the economic down turn bites into its prices and average food. It is a pub in Balham and will, I guess, soon return to being one. At the momment, its like an old bird that has just had a face lift and bob job. At a distance it may attract a little attention, but at the end of the day it is still mutton dressed as lamb, the tits will soon become saggy and when the face looks like an old boot, despite new boot, will continue to look a old boot.

The White Hart, Crystal Palace

the concept of service in the pub has died - i think the staff would rather cut their wrists than pour a pint or simply acknowledge you with a smile. Are they are all manic depressives or is it simply inertia - the management - they must hate their customers as they simply seem to want rid of them

The Porter and Sorter, Croydon

just waited ten minutes to get served by staff that seem to have something else to do apart from the simple art of serving a pint. I used to love this pub - now - well vomiting would be a more enjoyable experience.

The Kings Head, Tooting

The pub was good, but something has gone very wrong. Its not just the football, but the surly, brash bar staff who seem they have got something else to do. Some how it seems to forgotten who the customers are and they are leaving accordingly.

The Plough Inn, Croydon

If you want to go back in time go this pub. Full of smoke, sweaty arm pits and beer bellies, it reminds you of the late sixties or early seventies. You can even expect Alf Garnett to walk through the door or dream that your on a set for the Sweeney. There is nothing wrong with the beer or service, if a little brash, but I cannot work out what the Chinamen with a demented grin, is doing in the corner. He never buys a drink.
