King William IV, Ewell

Haven't they knocked this place down yet??

Awful place and the awful landlady who once barred me and a friend for having a fight with each other (neither of us knew what the hell she was on about??!!) is now at the Swan in Wimbledon, so that should take a dive soon ..... great!

Broadway Bar Cafe, Tolworth

The bar staff seem friendly enough if a little un-motivated but then i would be unmotivated if i was serving aggressive chavs for a living.

It's ok in the afternoon because there's no-one there but once school turns out i would avoid if i were you!

The Green Man, Putney Heath

wow, i worked at this pub more than a decade ago and their was a couple of guys barred for terrible behaviour.

A hate campaign ensued .... with young's receiving letters from several unknown individuals with bogus claims against the managers.

Some of the posts on this page remind me of that.

Strange LOL

The Hop Pole, Wandsworth

I used to visit this pub all the time and from reading recent comments i imagine it is as good now as it was way back when!

The place was always packed and is the best 'local' pub i haver ever visited somehow attracting a wide range of people, it could be a little intimidating when you walked in and the whole pub looked at you but this was genuinely because of the incredible community spirit which revolved around the pub.

Was a unique and excellent establishment, hope it hasn't changed!

The Jenny Lind, Wimbledon Common

@wbafc_beer

Bet that dude you're asking about was Tony.

Oh what a character and brave enough to drink in the Jenny Lind too, i would only EVER visit that pub under his protection!

The Emma Hamilton, Wimbledon Chase

Oh dear God no.

This place is worse than any you have visited, trust me.

I was riding past on a bike when a wobbly 40 something stopped about 50 yards ahead of me giving the 'evil eye', i slowed right down and moved into the other lane on the carriageway as i passed, only to be greeted with outstretched arms and " you nearly F****ing ran me over you C*** come on, i'll F***ing kill you" before duely walking off into the EH for a nice pint and philosophical chat with his chums.

This was at 5pm on a sunday.

And yeah, there were baby chavs in the play area.

Classy!

O'Neills, Wimbledon

definitely one of the scruffier o neils i've seen but it's ok.
last visited about a year ago and found it a bit odd that they advertised guiness red as an upcoming new drink when they've sold it for years and the sun bleached food menu out front was nothing more than a peice of white paper ..... the assumption i made is that the management here isn't very good and if you want clean tables you should probably avoid but if you don't mind roughing it, the pub is a perfectly acceptable place to hide for a few hours.... unless the footaball's on - but that's wimbledon all over.

The Quill, Putney

Haha i worked here for a few months but left because i was scared of the customers.
The place was so bad, would you believe that when the manager jumped ship i was offered the chance to run the place (and me just a child back then)

I ran alright!!

Dread to think where the customers go now .... would feel safer knowing they were still swinging from the fixtures in the quill!!

The Jolly Gardners, Putney

I visited this pub years ago on a saturday afternoon and left before getting served when a pint glass came through the (closed) window.

Hope it got better!!

The Grapes, Sutton

Visited on a monday night and the pub looks great, a living-room type place and obviously renovated recently.
Unfortunately the staff on this occasion were pretty useless, doing their best to make a group of strangers feel like, well, a group of strangers really!
There was a fantastic range of ales, all 'coming soon' !! and the pint my friend tried was of very poor quality just going limp in the glass after a couple of mouthfulls and never quite clearing.
A game of 'catch' between the people behind the bar was interrupted by people waiting to get served a few times and the guy who served me was so bad i was speechless when i returned to my table ... no aknowledgement, he just raised his eyebrows at me and as i began giving my order he simply walked off after hearing the first drink and ignored the rest of my order so it was ONE.....DRINK......AT........A.....TIME (and he still managed to get one wrong!!??) then the price was said at me and change handed out without a word!
The manager was simply not a manager, letting the staff do as they pleased(if anything he seemed scared to upset them) and during a pretty long visit i only saw tables cleared twice (by him, i presume so as not to put the staff out) and not wiped the entire evening so no surprise that no-one was eating!.

I can't overstate how good this pub LOOKS but the feel is very much of a 'locals only' philosophy even though it is in the middle of town and customer service is as bad as i've seen. I certainly won't waste my money going there again, there are far better pubs to visit if your willing to look for them !
